If you missed Jimothy, Epic’s documented Sidekick alternatives include Peels, Bonesy, Spike and Lil’ Raptor, alongside a broader roster of companions. But Epic’s reviewed official material does not confirm how Jimothy is unlocked or whether he is still obtainable as of October 3, 2026. Treat any claimed unlock method or deadline—including a connection to the Dumpster Dive Sprite—as unverified unless Fortnite or a direct Epic announcement confirms it.
Which Sidekick should you choose instead?
Epic’s first Sidekick lineup offers several different looks and character types. These are cosmetic companions, not gameplay upgrades: choose by the style you like, rather than expecting one to be stronger or more useful than another.

Epic’s developer documentation lists more companions, including Doggo Jr., Cuddle Team Jr., Mothman Jr. and Teacup Chi-Pup. That roster shows there are additional styles to consider, but creator documentation alone does not show that a Sidekick can be purchased by players now. Epic’s Sidekick documentation
What to know before choosing a Sidekick
Physical appearance locks in
Epic Support says you can customize a Sidekick’s appearance one time after obtaining it. Once you lock in those physical traits, they are permanent; duplicate copies in your Locker must have unique appearances. Names and accessories are separate: Epic says you can change those at any time. Review the appearance carefully before confirming it. Sidekicks can join several experiences, with an island caveat
Epic lists Sidekick support for Battle Royale, Save the World, LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, Fortnite Festival and developer-made experiences. In a creator-made island, the island developer must enable the feature: “Sidekicks can only tag along with you if the Island Developer has enabled Sidekicks in their island.” Epic Player Support: Fortnite Cosmetic Compatibility
Epic also announced in June 2026 that creators can use Fortnite Sidekicks through UEFN’s NPC Spawner, with a restriction on using licensed Sidekicks as NPCs. That is creator functionality, not a way for players to unlock or buy a companion. Epic’s UEFN announcement

How to check whether Jimothy is available
- Look in Fortnite for Jimothy’s own quest or unlock requirements. Follow only the in-game description for the current season; do not assume an unlock method based on a Sprite or other item unless the game explicitly connects them.
- Check for a deadline in the quest details. A seasonal task may have a time limit, so distinguish a stated end date from speculation.
- Check the Item Shop for alternatives. Shop rotation and regional availability can change. Bonesy’s historically listed 1,200 V-Bucks price is not proof that it is in the shop now.
- Use Epic announcements for confirmation. The reviewed Epic material does not establish Jimothy’s unlock method or current availability, and Epic’s October 2026 Fortnitemares update describes the Dumpster Dive Sprite as finding restorative food in a hiding spot without linking it to Jimothy.
