The best foldable phone for photography is the one whose cameras and image processing suit the scenes you shoot—not the one with the biggest megapixel figure. Compare main, ultrawide, and telephoto coverage, then check real sample photos, video modes, and how the folded and unfolded screens help you frame a shot. The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold family illustrate different strengths, but the available evidence does not establish a universal camera winner.
What matters most in a foldable phone camera
Lens coverage and optical reach
Start with the rear camera system: what the main camera handles, whether the ultrawide is useful, and how far the telephoto can reach optically. Optical zoom uses the telephoto lens rather than simply enlarging a crop; stabilization can help reduce blur from hand movement. Compare the stated optical zoom and stabilization for the exact model, not just the resolution printed beside each camera.
Image processing in the scenes you shoot
Megapixels describe sensor output, not the quality of the finished photo. Exposure, color, skin tones, fine detail, noise reduction, and the handling of movement all depend on more than resolution. Android Central’s comparison of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Galaxy Z Fold7, Honor Magic V5, and Oppo Find N5 notes that processing can change the outcome, with differences in zoom and text detail. Treat those results as reviewer observations from the tested phones and software, not a standardized ranking of every foldable.

Video and foldable-specific shooting
Check the exact model’s video resolutions and modes, stabilization, and whether the mode you want works with the camera you plan to use. Foldable screens also change how you can shoot: an outer-screen preview can help frame a rear-camera selfie, while tabletop or hands-free modes can make a folded phone useful as its own stand. Names and behavior vary by manufacturer and model.
How to compare camera samples fairly
Specifications narrow the shortlist; sample images help decide whether a phone suits your eye and your use. Compare phones in similar lighting and from similar distances, using the same framing where possible. Examine the original files or full-resolution samples rather than judging only compressed thumbnails.
- Indoor and night scenes: Check exposure, color, noise, and whether fine details remain natural.
- Moving subjects: Look for motion blur and whether faces or other important details stay sharp.
- Portrait distance: Compare how the main and telephoto cameras render faces and background separation at the distances you actually use.
- Distant subjects and text: Check detail at the telephoto’s optical range and at any higher zoom level you expect to use. Digital enlargement is not equivalent to optical reach.
- Video: Review footage for stabilization, exposure changes, and the resolution and frame-rate options available on the specific model.
A reviewer comparison can reveal useful differences, but it reflects the tested devices, settings, and software. It does not guarantee the same result in every scene or establish a universal winner.

Foldable features that can improve the shot
Using the outer screen to frame
Some foldables let you use the rear cameras while viewing a preview on the outer display. That can be handy for self-portraits or group photos because the rear camera system is available for framing. Google lists Dual Screen Preview among the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s camera features. Samsung says Galaxy Z Fold phones support familiar camera settings and modes while folded or unfolded. Motorola’s 2026 Razr Fold user guide describes an external-display camera preview option. Check the instructions and feature availability for the exact model before relying on a particular workflow.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesUsing the hinge as a stand
A phone that holds a partially folded position can support tabletop or hands-free framing without a separate stand. Google calls out Tabletop Mode for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Whether this is useful depends on the shooting angle, the stability of the surface, and how you prefer to control the camera.

- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
Composing and reviewing on the inner display
The larger inner screen can make composition and image review more comfortable, while the cover screen may be easier to use when you want to keep the phone folded. Consider the grip and screen you would actually use: a wide, unfolded device may be less convenient to hold for a quick shot even if the display offers more room.

| Model or family | Documented camera details | What the evidence does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold | Google lists a 48 MP main camera, 10.5 MP ultrawide, and 10.8 MP Dual PD telephoto with optical image stabilization and 5x optical zoom. Its listed features include Pro controls and hands-free astrophotography. Google also highlights Add Me, Best Take, Camera Coach, Made You Look, Dual Screen Preview, and Tabletop Mode. | The listed 5x optical telephoto is a feature-based reason to consider it if longer optical reach matters. It does not prove that its photos outperform every competitor. Feature availability can vary by market; consult Google’s specifications and Google’s announcement. |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold family | Samsung support says Galaxy Z Fold phones can use familiar camera settings and modes while folded or unfolded; some earlier generations had an under-display inner camera. | Samsung’s 2026 Singapore guide lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with a 200 MP wide, 50 MP ultrawide, and 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, plus 8K recording. Those are regional manufacturer specifications for the named model, not a specification for every Fold8 variant or market. Check Samsung’s camera-use support page and the Singapore Fold8 Ultra guide against the phone sold in your region. |
| Motorola Razr Fold (2026) | Motorola’s 2026 user guide describes an external-display camera preview option. | This supports a framing use case; the guide does not establish comparative image quality against Google or Samsung. See Motorola’s user guide. |
For an additional comparison, TechRadar’s guide, updated 24 July 2026, also notes the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s 5x telephoto as a distinction against the Galaxy Z Fold7: TechRadar’s foldable camera guide. That comparison is a useful reference, not proof of a camera winner across all models or shooting conditions. Google’s feature descriptions are manufacturer claims; for current market availability, consult Google’s Pixel camera feature information.

A practical checklist before choosing
- List the scenes you shoot most—such as travel, family events, indoor gatherings, night scenes, or video—and compare samples from those situations.
- Confirm the main, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras, including optical zoom reach and stabilization, for the precise regional model.
- Check whether the phone offers an outer-screen preview, tabletop or hands-free shooting, and the video modes you need.
- Try the folded and unfolded grip if possible. The inner display may help with composition and review, but comfort and control matter while taking the photo.
- Compare durability ratings, software support, price, and availability for your market separately from camera specifications. Manufacturer launch pages do not establish current retailer terms.
