Both have published evidence of voltage compatibility across regions, but that does not mean either is sold everywhere. Check the exact regional model, plug adapter, local warranty, and stock before buying.
What flat iron can also curl your hair?
The shape of the iron matters: rounded outer edges make it easier to turn a straightener into a curling tool, while a dedicated 2-in-1 design makes that use more explicit. The two options below suit different priorities.

This is the more direct match if you want one tool designed for both jobs. The voltage detail here comes from the editorial guide; official voltage specifications for the relevant regional model are not established by that source. Confirm the model and its voltage instructions with T3 or the seller before using it abroad.

Does “available everywhere” mean you can use it anywhere?
No. Electrical compatibility and retail availability are different things. A universal- or dual-voltage tool may adapt to a destination’s electrical supply when used with the appropriate plug adapter, but that does not guarantee local stock, a local warranty, or compatibility for every model sold under the same brand.
ghd’s US Help Center says: “ghd stylers (excluding model 3.1b) and the ghd curve® range feature universal voltage, meaning you can use your product in any country using the appropriate travel adapter as the product automatically adapts to the correct voltage.” The same page advises checking the destination’s voltage and identifies products with different limits: the ghd air and Helios hair dryers, and the US-purchased Duet Style, work only where 110–120V power is available. Do not assume one tool’s voltage behavior applies to every product in a brand family. Check ghd’s overseas-use guidance.

“Available everywhere” should therefore be read as a travel-voltage question, not a promise that the product is stocked in every country. Before a trip or purchase, verify the exact model, destination voltage, plug shape, seller inventory, and whether the warranty applies where you live.

- Curling ease and result: Decide whether loose waves are enough or whether you want a tool whose outer shape is specifically designed to curl.
- Plate shape and width: The barrel or outer edge affects how easily the tool turns through a section; plate width also affects how much hair you can work with at once.
- Heat control and hair texture: Check the available temperature settings and whether they suit your hair. Section size and texture affect how a tool performs in practice.

Is a wet-to-dry straightener a substitute?
Not if your main goal is a flat iron that can curl. Dyson describes the Airstrait as using high-pressure airflow to straighten hair as it dries, rather than as a curl-focused iron. Dyson also says it should only be used in the region where it was purchased because it is engineered for that region’s voltage.
