Fire Stick does not come with one fixed package of channels. Fire TV is the interface for finding content from supported apps and subscriptions; on a compatible Fire TV Smart TV, it can also bring in live television from a connected source such as an antenna. What you can watch—and whether it costs extra—depends on the app, your region, and your device.
This guide explains how to find Fire TV’s live and free content, what Amazon’s examples do and do not tell you about specific channels, and how to check whether a title is included or requires a separate subscription. It focuses on the U.S. examples in Amazon’s guidance; availability can differ elsewhere.
What “Fire Stick channels” means in 2026
People often use “Fire Stick channels” to mean anything they can watch through a Fire TV streaming device. But Fire TV is an access and discovery interface, not a single Amazon-owned channel package. Live programming can come from supported apps and subscriptions. On a Fire TV Smart TV, a connected live-TV source may also appear in the experience.

Amazon describes its Live area as a way to watch live content from supported apps and subscriptions. Its developer documentation also says, “Amazon does not build channels or assemble schedules.” In other words, the service or source supplies the programming; Fire TV can help surface it. Free, live, and on-demand are not the same thing
Fire TV has both a Free area and a Live area. “Free” describes an access or payment model; it does not necessarily mean a program is live. A free service may offer on-demand films and shows, scheduled channels, or both. A live channel, in the stricter sense, is scheduled programming that plays in a set sequence, like traditional television. On-demand titles can be started whenever the viewer chooses.
Amazon names Pluto TV and Tubi as examples of free streaming services available on Fire TV. That confirms app-level examples, not the current channel roster inside either app. Their catalogs and any scheduled programming should be checked in the apps themselves, since availability can change and vary by region. Amazon’s Fire TV features overview provides the examples and notes that app availability varies by region.

Examples of services available on Fire TV
Amazon’s overview lists Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max among apps available on Fire TV, and names Pluto TV and Tubi as free streaming-service examples. This is a platform-availability list, not a promise that each app offers linear channels, that its subscription is included with an Amazon membership, or that its catalog is the same in every country.

How to find live programming and tell what it costs
Browse Fire TV’s Live area
Open the Live area from the Fire TV home screen to browse live content from supported apps and subscriptions. Amazon also points users to the home-screen On Now row; on remotes with a Guide button, pressing it can open the channel guide. What appears depends on the device and the services connected to it. Check whether a title is included with Prime Video
Fire TV search results may include Prime Video titles, add-on subscriptions, other subscription-streaming apps, and free ad-supported services. Amazon says titles included with Prime Video carry a “Watch Now with Prime” option. If a result instead points to another app or an add-on, do not assume access is included in a Prime Video membership. Amazon’s Fire TV Prime Video help page describes the distinction.

How to add an antenna source on a Fire TV Smart TV
The channel-scanning steps below apply to a Fire TV Smart TV connected to a live-TV source. They do not turn a standalone Fire TV Stick into an antenna tuner: a Stick by itself does not provide the television’s antenna input.

- Open Settings.
- Select Live TV, then Channel Scan.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to scan for channels.
- Open the channel guide to browse the results. To customize it, choose Add to Favorite Channels or Add & Manage Channels, as available on your device.
Amazon documents this process for Fire TV Smart TVs. Menu names and the visible experience can vary by device. Its guidance is available under Watch Live TV on Fire TV.

Why your Fire TV lineup may differ from someone else’s
- Region: Amazon says app availability varies by region, and its named app examples are U.S.-specific. A service or title available in one country may not appear in another.
- Device: The interface and available features can differ between a Fire TV Stick and a Fire TV Smart TV. Antenna scanning is documented for the Smart TV, not for a standalone Stick.
- Service and entitlement: A result may come from an ad-supported service, a paid subscription, an add-on, or Prime Video. Seeing an app or title in Fire TV does not establish that it is included at no additional cost.
- Channel integration: Amazon’s linear-TV integrations are available to select partners, and its Live tab is not present in every marketplace. Developer documentation describes guide scheduling information of up to 14 days for an integrated channel; that is a platform capability, not a guarantee that every app or device exposes a 14-day guide.

Is a Fire TV Stick required?
No. Fire TV is also built into Fire TV Smart TVs, and the available features depend on the device. If you want the Fire TV interface on a television that does not have it built in, Amazon lists the Fire TV Stick HD (2026) among its streaming media player devices. A Stick can provide access to supported streaming apps, but antenna channel scanning requires a compatible Fire TV Smart TV and connected live-TV source.
