Diablo IV is the best starting point for friends who want a co-op action RPG with a story campaign, dungeons, and cross-play. Blizzard advertises cross-play and cross-progression, and its feature overview says dungeon parties can include up to four players. Because the current landing page does not spell out every supported platform pairing, confirm that your exact platforms and editions can join before buying.
For shorter, replayable roguelike runs, consider Ravenswatch if your group includes Xbox players. Deep Rock Galactic is a useful adjacent option for groups who would enjoy a co-op shooter, but its cross-play depends on storefront: Xbox and Windows Store versions can play together; Steam cannot join them.
Best cross-platform co-op dungeon crawler: Diablo IV
Blizzard’s current Diablo IV page advertises cross-play and cross-progression. Its feature overview describes both campaign co-op and instanced dungeons for parties of up to four.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The campaign suits a group that wants a shared story rather than a sequence of disconnected matches. Blizzard says campaign progress syncs to the party leader, so friends can play through the story together while following that leader’s progression. The dungeon party size makes it a natural fit for a small group looking for loot-focused action RPG play.
#1 Best Overall
- DYNAMIC DUNGEON BUILDER: Modular tiles and evolving layouts create a new adventure every session. Double-sided cards become rooms or gear, so the map shifts as you explore. No two playthroughs are ever the same.
- TEAMWORK AND TACTICS: Choose from 8 unique heroes and work together in this fully co-op experience. Share loot, combine abilities, and coordinate strategies to survive enemies and defeat the boss.
- SMART CARD SYSTEM: Every card has two uses—expand the dungeon or boost your hero. This dual-purpose deck system drives deep decisions and exciting trade-offs with just three cards in hand.
- PLAY SOLO OR TOGETHER: Designed for 1–4 players, with solo rules built in. Whether you're flying solo or gathering your group, the scalable difficulty and quick sessions make it perfect for all setups.
- BIG FUN, SMALL BOX: Fast setup, quick turns, and replayable modes packed into a compact box. Perfect for weeknights, travel, or casual groups who want a dungeon crawler without the bulk or burnout.
Cross-play is advertised, but check the exact pairing. The current official page retrieved for this recommendation does not provide a detailed matrix of all platform and storefront combinations. Before purchasing, verify that each friend’s platform and edition are compatible with the others. The page also lists a Battle.net account and internet connection as requirements; platform, edition, and purchase details can change.
Best for roguelike runs: Ravenswatch
The Xbox listing for Ravenswatch identifies online co-op and matchmaking for two to four players, as well as Xbox cross-platform co-op. That makes it a candidate for groups who prefer replayable runs to a long shared campaign.

- Best-selling Unstoppable Game Engine combined with a powerhouse IP like Dungeon Crawler Carl.
- Compatible with the OG Unstoppable game!
- A roguelike, momentum deck-building game set in the world of Dungeon Crawler Carl!
- Crafting cards levels up your abilities, but also boosts the threats you face!
- The next game in the best-selling Unstoppable Series.
The compatibility evidence here is specific to the Xbox listing: it does not establish every Xbox-to-PC or Xbox-to-PlayStation pairing. Confirm the supported connection for your group’s platforms before buying, rather than assuming that “cross-platform” means every version can play together.
When Deep Rock Galactic fits—and when it does not
Deep Rock Galactic’s official cross-play page says Xbox One and the Windows Store version can play together, but Steam does not cross-play with those versions. The Xbox listing describes it as a one-to-four-player co-op FPS.

- PLAY SOLO OR WITH A FRIEND – One Deck Dungeon is designed for solo play or 2-player co-op, making it the perfect single player card game for adults who want a deep, strategic challenge any time, anywhere.
- DUNGEON-CRAWLING RPG IN A CARD GAME – Battle monsters, dodge traps, and level up your hero across 5 iconic dungeons. Intuitive mechanics capture the thrill of a tabletop RPG without the complexity or setup time.
- FAST 30–45 MINUTE SESSIONS – Each game plays in just 30 to 45 minutes, so you can squeeze in a dungeon run on your lunch break or while traveling. One of the best compact travel games for adults on the go.
- ENDLESSLY REPLAYABLE – Choose from multiple heroes and dungeons for a different challenge every game. Expand your adventure with the Forest of Shadows expansion for even more variety and content.
- PERFECT GIFT FOR BOARD GAME LOVERS – An ideal gift for RPG fans, strategy game enthusiasts, and solo board game players. Great for ages 14 and up. Compact box fits easily in any game shelf or travel bag.
It is a co-op shooter, not a conventional fantasy dungeon crawler. Include it if your group mainly wants cooperative missions and the platform pairing works; skip it if you specifically want a fantasy action RPG or your friends are split between Steam and Xbox/Windows Store.

How to choose for your group
- Match the game to the kind of co-op you want. Choose Diablo IV for a shared campaign and dungeon progression, or Ravenswatch for roguelike runs. Treat Deep Rock Galactic as a shooter alternative, not a fantasy crawler.
- Write down each player’s platform and storefront. For Diablo IV, verify the precise pairing because the cited current page does not enumerate all combinations. For Ravenswatch, the cited Xbox listing establishes Xbox cross-platform co-op, not universal support. For Deep Rock Galactic, check the storefront restriction before inviting the group.
- Confirm party size and practical requirements. Diablo IV’s described dungeon parties and Ravenswatch’s listed online co-op both accommodate two to four players. Blizzard’s Diablo IV page specifies a Battle.net account and internet connection; check the current listing for the platform and edition you plan to buy.
