Choose Birkenstock’s Regular/Wide width first. Birkenstock recommends Regular for medium-to-wide feet and maps it to women’s C–D and men’s D–EE in its US fit guidance. Two current US listings that explicitly offer Regular/Wide are the Arizona Soft Footbed Birko-Flor sandal and the Boston Essentials EVA clog. Width labels are not a universal fit guarantee, so measure both feet and verify the exact size and width on the product page before ordering.
The best Birkenstocks for wide feet right now
These are the clearest options in the current US catalog for shoppers who need Birkenstock’s wider width. The official pages establish the available width and construction; they do not provide independent tests that would justify ranking one for comfort or durability.

Arizona Soft Footbed Birko-Flor in Regular/Wide
The Arizona is the straightforward sandal choice. Its product page lists both Regular/Wide and Medium/Narrow, so select the Regular/Wide option when your measurements and foot shape call for the broader footprint. Birko-Flor is the listed upper material, and this version uses Birkenstock’s soft footbed.
Boston Essentials EVA in Regular/Wide
The Boston provides clog-style coverage instead of an open sandal. Birkenstock describes its EVA as water-friendly and says the design is built on the brand’s contoured footbed. The US page lists Regular/Wide; check the live size selector because availability can vary by size.

Regular or Narrow: which width should you choose?
Birkenstock’s US instruction is explicit: “Choose Regular for medium to wide feet or Narrow for narrow to medium.” The same guide maps Regular/Wide to women’s C–D and men’s D–EE. Those are Birkenstock’s width equivalents, not a promise that every model will fit every foot identically. Read the BIRKENSTOCK US Fit Guide alongside the specific product listing.
- Start with Regular/Wide if your feet are medium-to-wide or you routinely need a broad toe area.
- Consider Narrow only when your measurements and the footbed shape indicate a narrower fit. Birkenstock says Narrow is for narrow-to-medium feet and notes that it fits many women’s feet, but that general guidance does not replace measuring.
- Do not size down to remove side space. The brand’s FAQ says substantial room at the sides may indicate that Narrow is appropriate, while some side space should still remain and your foot should not ride up against the rim.
The width outline in Birkenstock’s guide is filled for Narrow and outlined for Regular. Use that visual together with your measurements rather than treating the women’s or men’s label as a guarantee.

How to measure for a wide-foot Birkenstock
- Measure each foot, because left and right lengths or widths can differ.
- Use Birkenstock’s US fit-guide size chart, which gives foot-length and foot-width measurements in millimeters for individual sizes. Width values change by size, so do not apply one measurement to every size.
- If you use Birkenstock’s printable template, print at 100% scale and check its scale with a ruler before standing on it. The Fit Guide provides the template and instructions.
- Compare the larger foot with the chart, then confirm that the exact product page offers that size in Regular/Wide. Product selection and stock can change.
Check the fit before you commit to long wear
Open both straps fully before putting on an Arizona, or loosen the opening on a Boston. Your toes should not touch the footbed edge, and Birkenstock advises aiming for about ¼ inch of space around the foot. The foot should sit on the footbed rather than riding up the side rims.

These are the manufacturer’s instructions, not independent test findings. Stop and reassess the size or width if your toes contact the edge, your foot spills over the footbed, or the side rims press uncomfortably.
