If you want animated films based on fighting games, start with Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, TEKKEN: The Motion Picture, and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. They are the strongest evidence-backed feature-film picks here, but the available sources do not support a reliable ranking of ten distinct films. This list focuses on feature films—not live-action adaptations, shorts, or series—and ranks the four by fight readability, newcomer accessibility, use of game characters and lore, and fit between tone and audience.

How this list is ranked

The ranking weighs four practical questions: Are the fights memorable and easy to follow? Can someone unfamiliar with the games understand the story? Does the film make meaningful use of recognizable fighters and lore? And does its tone suit the audience it is likely to attract? These are editorial judgments, not critic scores or a claim of consensus.

The sources establish four useful candidates, not ten equally well-supported animated features. JustWatch’s June 27, 2026 roundup discusses three animated films, while Warner Bros. identifies Scorpion’s Revenge as an animated film. A separate JustWatch article focuses on live-action movies; its broader praise for animation and the Mortal Kombat animated series is not a film-by-film assessment. JustWatch’s animated-film roundup and its UK fighting-game movie list should not be read as a definitive animated-film top ten.

The best-supported animated fighting-game movies

1. Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1994)

This is the best starting point for viewers who want recognizable fighters, distinct abilities, and a story whose motivations are relatively accessible. JustWatch highlights its fight sequences, character abilities, and use of the game’s lore. That combination makes it the most rounded pick among these four, especially for someone who wants the feel of Street Fighter II without needing a guide to the franchise first.

2. Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture (1994)

Choose this one for an original story set in the Fatal Fury franchise rather than a direct retelling of a game’s events. JustWatch singles out its animation and combat, making it a strong option if visual action matters more to you than close adaptation. Its original-story approach also gives newcomers a way into the film without requiring them to know a particular game plot.

3. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge (2020)

This film centers on Scorpion’s revenge while bringing him into the tournament story alongside Raiden, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Johnny Cage. Warner Bros. describes it as the first film in the animated Mortal Kombat Legends series. It is the pick for viewers drawn to the franchise’s fighters and tournament setup; the premise also gives newcomers a clear character-driven entry point. Warner Bros.’ film page provides its synopsis.

4. TEKKEN: The Motion Picture (1998)

This feature adapts early-game character conflict from TEKKEN. JustWatch describes it as an OVA expanded into a feature and cautions that its story is bare-bones. That makes it a worthwhile franchise watch for fans interested in seeing the early characters brought together, but a less rounded choice if you want a substantial plot alongside the fights.

Rank #3
Game of Death Limited Edition Blu-ray
  • Five years after the release of Enter the Dragon and the death of its star Bruce Lee, director Robert Clouse was recruited by Golden Harvest to complete Lee's last, unfinished masterwork, only a third of which was filmed before he died: Game of Death. The result is an exciting rollercoaster ride that blends Lee's martial arts mastery with Clouse's eye for nail-biting suspense.

Why there are four recommendations, not ten

The title’s “10 best” framing suggests a ranked set of ten animated features, but the available evidence does not establish ten distinct films with comparable support. JustWatch’s animated roundup names the three 1990s films above; Warner Bros. supports the Mortal Kombat entry. A separate JustWatch list explicitly ranks live-action films, so its titles should not be blended into an animated ranking. The same article’s positive comment about the Mortal Kombat animated series is not evidence for ranking individual films.

For readers searching more broadly for anime shows and movies based on fighting games, keep the formats separate: a series may be worth exploring, but it is not a feature film. A reader discussion uses that broader wording, but it does not establish which additional films belong in a quality ranking. The discussion is useful as an example of how people phrase the search, not as a reliable ranking source.
