Best overall for a game collection: GameTrack. It adds backlog states, progress and play-session tracking, cross-platform library connections and release alerts. Best for sale alerts: Deku Deals, which combines wishlists with price history and mobile notifications for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox games. Best for a mixed save-for-later list: begg, which saves links from social, shopping and video apps alongside game or app links. Google Play’s own wishlist remains adequate when you only need a simple Android save list.
What the Google Play wishlist is—and where it stops
Google describes the Google Play wishlist as a list of apps and digital content you may want to install or buy later. Saving an item does not download it automatically. On Android, you add or remove an app or other digital item from its details page, so the feature works as a lightweight bookmark inside the store.
That simplicity is useful if your only question is, “Which Android apps should I remember?” The list is tied to Google Play, requires no separate game database and keeps a saved item close to its store page. It becomes less suitable when your list is actually a backlog: games you own but have not started, titles you are currently playing, completed games, releases you are waiting for, or purchases you want to make only after a price drop.
The help documentation does not describe a dedicated cross-platform game library, backlog states, play-session logging or price-history analysis for the wishlist. Those missing functions determine which alternative fits:

- Choose a game-library tracker when organization and progress matter more than store bookmarking.
- Choose a deal tracker when you mainly want to wait for a discount and receive an alert.
- Choose a broad save-for-later service when your list includes social posts, videos, shops, apps and games rather than only store products.
You can also keep Google Play for Android-only saves and use a second service for games. The alternatives do not need to replace the built-in list completely; they can solve different parts of the problem.

The table separates four questions that are often conflated: what you can save, how deeply you can organize it, what can trigger an alert, and whether the list can represent more than one store or platform.
GameTrack: the closest replacement for a game backlog
What it tracks
GameTrack is designed as a video-game tracker rather than a generic Android bookmark. Its Google Play listing says the database contains more than 250,000 titles across more than 40 platforms (a figure reported in 2026). You can mark games as playing, completed, backlogged or wishlisted, track progress, connect PlayStation, Xbox and Steam accounts, receive recommendations and follow upcoming releases with launch notifications.

Why it is better than a store wishlist for games
- Backlog state: “Backlogged” distinguishes an owned game you intend to play from a title you merely want to buy. “Playing” and “completed” prevent an ever-growing wishlist from mixing active and finished games.
- Progress: Progress fields give you a way to record how far you are, which is useful for long role-playing games or multiple games played in rotation.
- Sessions: Play-session tracking answers when and how often you played, information a store wishlist does not capture.
- Cross-platform view: Account connections and the integrations listed on the feature page can bring console, PC and achievement activity into one collection.
- Release awareness: Upcoming-release following and launch notifications are more specific than a permanent saved item that never changes state.
- Discovery: Recommendations and tags can help turn a large list into manageable themes, such as co-op games, short campaigns or games suitable for a particular device.
A practical GameTrack workflow
- Import or add your collection. Connect the supported accounts you actually use, or add titles manually. Start with games you own and games you are certain you want; importing every possibility creates a noisy backlog.
- Assign one current state. Use playing for active games, completed for finished games, backlogged for owned but unstarted games, queued for the next candidates and wishlisted for games you do not yet own. A state is most useful when it answers a decision you make regularly.
- Record progress. Update the progress field after a meaningful milestone rather than after every short session. This keeps the record useful without making maintenance a chore.
- Use tags or custom lists for reasons, not duplicates. Examples include “local co-op,” “under 10 hours,” “handheld,” “story-heavy” or “play with friends.” Keep the status as the lifecycle and the tag as the context.
- Log sessions when you need a history. Session data can show whether a game is still active or whether it should move from playing back to queued. Do not treat the tracker as a requirement to record every minute.
- Follow releases separately from purchases. A forthcoming title can stay in a release-following or wishlist state until launch. After release, move it to the state that reflects your actual ownership or intention.
Trade-offs
GameTrack is specialized for games, which is its strength and its boundary. It is not a general Android-app wishlist. If your list contains utilities, subscriptions or ordinary apps that are not games, keep those in Google Play or use a broader link-saving service. Also distinguish “listed integration” from “complete synchronization”: the feature page names supported services, but the available account data and update behavior can vary by platform and account permissions.
Deku Deals: the strongest choice when price is the trigger
What it does
Deku Deals focuses on finding game deals for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox. Its listing describes wishlists, collections, price alerts, historical-price comparisons and discovery features. The mobile announcement says wishlist alerts can arrive as push notifications on mobile devices.
This makes the service useful when your workflow is: save a game, watch its price, compare the current offer with past prices and buy only when the timing is right. The historical view supplies context that a simple “on sale” label cannot: a small discount may still be expensive relative to the title’s earlier price, while a modest-looking reduction may be close to the best recorded price.

How to use it for a purchase decision
- Add the game to your wishlist. Use the platform-specific entry that matches the console or store where you intend to buy. A single title may have different prices and sale schedules on different platforms.
- Enable the alert channel you will notice. If you rely on your phone, use the mobile push-notification option described for wishlist alerts. Check the device’s notification permissions if alerts do not appear.
- Read the price history before buying. Compare the current price with the recorded historical pattern rather than assuming every sale is exceptional.
- Separate “want” from “buy now.” Keep a broad wishlist, then use your own budget or target price to decide which alert deserves immediate action.
- Review the platform and edition. Confirm that the alert refers to the console, edition and store you actually use. A lower price on another platform does not reduce the cost of the version you need.
Trade-offs
Deku Deals is centered on game purchasing and price monitoring, not arbitrary Android apps. The documented platforms are Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox, so it should not be treated as a universal Google Play tracker. It also answers “when should I buy?” more directly than “what have I finished?” If you need playtime, progress or backlog states, GameTrack is the more appropriate primary list.

begg: a broad save-for-later list for mixed links
What makes it different
The begg listing describes one wishlist that can save items from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, shops and other apps, with sharing, price alerts, coupons and deal tracking. Its link-first approach is useful when recommendations arrive outside a game store: a creator mentions a game in a video, a friend sends an app link in a chat, or a product appears in a social post.
Because the saved object can be a link or item from many sources, begg is a better fit for a mixed queue than for a structured game collection. You can keep one place for app links, game links, shopping ideas and social recommendations without first deciding which store or platform owns each item.
A clean way to organize a mixed list
- Save the original link immediately. Capture the item from the app where you found it so the source and context are not lost.
- Use broad categories. Separate apps, games, videos, shopping and “to investigate” rather than creating a category for every store.
- Add a short decision note. Record why you saved it, such as “check accessibility options” or “wait for a console sale.” This avoids reopening a link with no memory of its purpose.
- Use sharing for recommendations. Send a focused list to another person instead of exposing an unfiltered queue.
- Check alert and coupon details before acting. A price alert or coupon can identify an opportunity, but you still need to verify the item, seller, edition and final price at checkout.
Trade-offs
The cited listing does not document a game database, backlog statuses, playtime, progress tracking or platform-library integrations. Therefore, begg should not be presented as a replacement for a dedicated game manager. It is the flexible option when the defining requirement is “save things from anywhere,” not “model my game collection.”

Choose Google Play alone
Stay with the built-in wishlist if all of these are true: your items are primarily Android apps or Google Play digital content, you only need a reminder, and you do not need price history, release alerts, progress or cross-platform ownership. Its lack of extra workflow is an advantage when adding another service would create unnecessary maintenance.

Choose GameTrack first
Make GameTrack your primary list when you own games across PC and consoles, want explicit playing/completed/backlogged states, need progress or session records, or want release notifications. Keep Google Play for non-game apps rather than forcing every saved item into a game database.
Choose Deku Deals first
Use Deku Deals when the purchase decision depends on timing. It is the clearest match for “tell me when this game is discounted,” especially if historical prices and mobile push alerts influence your decision. Pair it with GameTrack if the same titles also need ownership and backlog states.
Choose begg first

Avoid duplicating every item everywhere. Put a title in GameTrack when it becomes part of your collection, in Deku Deals when price timing matters, and in begg only while its source or category is still broad. Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
Confusing a wishlist with a backlog
