The right alternative depends on which Acer Aspire 16 AI configuration you are considering and what matters most to you. Start by matching the exact Acer model code and local price; then look at the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 16 if you want documented OLED options, or the ASUS Vivobook S16 S5606 if a reviewed 120 Hz OLED configuration is your priority. HP’s OmniBook 5 16 is another family worth checking, but its exact specifications depend on the model.
Check which Acer Aspire 16 AI you are comparing
Acer Aspire 16 AI is a family name, not one fixed specification. Acer’s UK page lists the A16-61M-R444 with a Ryzen AI 5 330 processor, a 16-inch 1920×1200 IPS display at 120 Hz, 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 512 GB SSD, a 65 Wh battery and an approximate weight of 1.55 kg. A different UK example, the A16-61M-R5QR, has a 2048×1280 OLED display at 120 Hz and a different processor configuration. These examples do not represent every regional model. Acer’s regional specifications note that configurations can vary by model and region.
Before comparing alternatives, find the full model code on the retailer listing or Acer product page. Record the processor, screen type and resolution, memory, storage, weight and price. Without those details, a comparison can accidentally set an OLED Acer against an IPS alternative—or compare configurations with different processors or other equipment.
Which alternatives are worth considering?
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 16: consider it for OLED panel choice
Lenovo’s PSREF documentation lists IdeaPad Slim 5 16 variants with WUXGA (1920×1200) OLED panels and another variant with a 2.8K (2880×1800) OLED display at 120 Hz. That makes the Slim 5 16 a sensible candidate if an OLED screen is your main reason to look beyond an IPS Aspire. The options are variant-specific, not guaranteed on every Slim 5 16 listing. Lenovo’s PSREF specifications are a starting point; confirm the precise suffix and local configuration before buying.

ASUS Vivobook S16 S5606: a documented 120 Hz OLED configuration
ITPro’s May 17, 2024 review covers a Vivobook S16 S5606 configuration with a 16-inch 3200×2000 OLED screen at 120 Hz, an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 1 TB SSD and a 75 Wh battery. It is a useful screen-focused comparison if those specifications match the listing available to you. ITPro’s review is dated, however, so it does not establish present-day price, stock or value.
HP OmniBook 5 16: compare only by full model code
HP publishes specifications for multiple OmniBook 5 16 series, including the 16-ba1000 and 16-bn0000. This confirms there are distinct models in the family, not one specification that applies to all of them. Check the exact model code and market listing before treating an OmniBook as a match for a particular Acer or ranking it above another option. HP’s support specifications can help identify the relevant series.

Compare the details that affect everyday use
Screen: do not stop at the word “OLED”
Compare panel type, resolution, refresh rate, brightness, color coverage, touch support and glossy or matte finish on the exact SKU. The documented options differ considerably: the Acer examples include WUXGA IPS and 2048×1280 OLED at 120 Hz; Lenovo’s family includes WUXGA OLED and 2.8K OLED at 120 Hz on different variants; and ITPro’s reviewed ASUS configuration uses 3200×2000 OLED at 120 Hz. A higher resolution or OLED panel may suit someone who prioritizes image detail or contrast, but those labels alone do not establish that one laptop is better for your work.

Processor, memory and storage: match the workload and configuration
Check the processor family and installed memory alongside the screen. The Acer A16-61M-R444 and reviewed ASUS configuration both list 16 GB of memory, but they use different processors and storage capacities. Lenovo and HP configurations vary, so do not assume a family name guarantees a particular processor, RAM amount or SSD. The available specifications also do not establish memory upgradeability across all these models; verify it for the exact SKU if future expansion matters.

- Intel Core Ultra 9 288V: Features an 8-core architecture with integrated AI acceleration for optimized performance in complex modern workflows
- 16" WUXGA IPS Display: A 1920 x 1200 resolution screen with an expansive 16:10 aspect ratio ensures crisp visuals and enhanced vertical workspace
- 32GB LPDDR5X RAM: High-bandwidth onboard memory allows for seamless multitasking and supports data-heavy applications with total stability
- 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD: Provides expansive storage capacity and ultra-fast data access speeds for large files, software, and operating system tasks
- Intel ARC 140V Graphics: Delivers robust integrated graphics performance suitable for creative editing, high-definition streaming, and smooth media
For office apps, browsing, video calls and media, compare the complete configuration rather than assuming that “AI PC” branding or an NPU figure predicts ordinary application performance. The available evidence does not provide comparable workload benchmarks for these alternatives.
Battery and portability: keep test methods separate
Battery capacity and weight are useful specification checks, but neither alone predicts how long a laptop will last in your routine. Acer lists battery-life figures by display family and test type on its regional specification page; those are manufacturer claims tied to stated test conditions and the relevant SKU, not a promise of your runtime. Do not compare them directly with a reviewer’s runtime result or another manufacturer’s claim unless the test methods match. Check the weight and battery capacity of each exact configuration as well.

Ports, connectivity and local ownership details
Confirm ports and wireless connectivity on the regional product listing rather than inferring them from a sibling model. Then compare current local price, stock and warranty terms. Prices and availability vary by country and retailer, and the cited specifications and review do not establish what is currently available where you live.

Use reviews as configuration-specific evidence
TechRadar’s review describes an Aspire 16 AI configuration and discusses its platform and trade-offs, but its findings apply to the configuration reviewed, not automatically to every Aspire 16 AI SKU or to independent testing of the Lenovo, ASUS and HP alternatives. Prices and availability reported in a review can also become outdated. TechRadar’s Aspire 16 AI review can add context once you confirm which Acer model it covers.
