For signup protection, consider broader email-validation APIs such as Abstract, NeverBounce, and ZeroBounce, alongside the detection-focused DISIFY. The right choice depends on more than whether a service flags disposable domains: compare its result categories, timeout behavior, integration model, data-processing region, and cost at your expected volume. Vendor materials describe different capabilities, but do not establish an independent accuracy winner.

What to compare before choosing an API

Disposable-address screening is one signal in an email-validation workflow, not a complete signup-risk decision. Depending on the provider, checks may include address syntax, DNS and MX records, live SMTP responses, catch-all behavior, and other risk indicators. Compare what each service actually returns and how your application should act on each result.

  • Detection scope: Is the service focused on disposable addresses, or does it also check deliverability and other email-quality signals?
  • Result semantics: Can your application distinguish disposable, invalid, catch-all, and unknown results?
  • Latency and timeouts: How long can a check take, and what does the provider return when a mail host is slow or uses greylisting?
  • Integration: Does it offer a backend API, a browser widget, bulk validation, or the integration method your stack needs?
  • Data handling: Which processing region and data terms apply to the endpoint you plan to use?
  • Cost at your volume: Confirm current credits, pricing, overages, and whether the terms fit your expected usage.

The services below are candidates to evaluate, not a tested ranking. Their documented features and marketing claims do not provide a like-for-like independent comparison.

Alternatives to consider

Abstract Email Validation API

Abstract’s API page describes a response that combines format, MX, live SMTP, disposable-address, and catch-all checks, with additional risk-related signals promoted on the page. It is worth considering if you want disposable screening as part of a broader validation response. Treat performance and feature descriptions as vendor claims, and check the live terms for the plan you need.

As of the page accessed in 2026, Abstract advertised 100 free requests per month without a credit card and showed an example price of $17 per month for 5,000 validations. These are vendor-published offer and comparison figures, not independent price verification; confirm the current pricing directly before relying on them.

NeverBounce single verification

NeverBounce’s documentation describes a single-verification request that can be used during signup or onboarding, as well as guidance for handling results at the point of entry. Its key integration caveat is important: the standard API is not suitable for browser-side code because that would expose the API credential. Keep calls using that API on your server; NeverBounce also documents a JavaScript widget for browser integrations.

  • This compact address book is portable and convenient to carry in a bag, desk drawer, or personal workspace without sacrificing writing space.

NeverBounce says slow mail hosts can take several seconds or tens of seconds to respond. Its guidance suggests an approximately 10-second client timeout and treating a timeout as unknown, rather than automatically rejecting the address. That makes its documented signup handling useful to teams that want an explicit policy for uncertain results.

ZeroBounce real-time validation

ZeroBounce’s API documentation lists distinct result categories including valid, invalid, catch-all, unknown, spamtrap, abuse, and do-not-mail; disposable appears as a sub-status. This broader classification can help applications avoid reducing every concern to a single disposable/not-disposable flag.

The documentation describes default, US, and EU endpoints, and states that its US endpoint processes data on US servers. Choose the endpoint only after checking your own data-handling requirements and the provider’s current terms. ZeroBounce says its real-time validation returns 96–98% of domains in 1–5 seconds; that is a vendor-reported operational statistic, not a cross-provider benchmark. Its service page also advertises a 99.6% accuracy guarantee, but the cited material does not supply an independent comparative methodology for that claim.

DISIFY

DISIFY’s documentation describes syntax, DNS/MX, disposable-address, domain, and privacy-relay checks, as well as bulk validation, public blacklists, and confidence scoring. It is a detection-oriented option to examine if privacy relays, bulk domain screening, or visibility into multiple signals matter to your implementation. Review its current limits, terms, and response behavior in the documentation before adopting it.

How to handle results in a signup flow

Keep result categories separate

Do not map unknown, catch-all, disposable, and invalid to the same “bad email” outcome. A result can be uncertain because a mail server is slow or difficult to verify; that does not establish that the address is disposable. ZeroBounce documents distinct categories, while NeverBounce’s point-of-entry guidance explicitly distinguishes uncertain and catch-all outcomes from disposable and invalid ones.

Set a bounded wait and a fallback

NeverBounce suggests an approximately 10-second client timeout for its point-of-entry flow, with timeouts treated as unknown. ZeroBounce documents a 1-to-30-second response window and notes that slow or greylisting servers can produce an unknown result. Set a timeout appropriate to your signup experience, then define what happens when it expires. Avoid making a visitor wait indefinitely or silently treating a timeout as proof of abuse.

Choose proportionate friction

NeverBounce recommends allowing valid, catch-all, and unknown emails to proceed while blocking disposable and invalid emails. That is the vendor’s suggested policy, not a universal rule. For an application that needs more assurance, a verification email or a later account limitation can be considered for uncertain cases instead of an unconditional signup block. This is a product-policy choice, not an outcome established by comparative testing.

Protect credentials and monitor exceptions

Make secret-bearing API requests from a server-side endpoint, not browser code. If you use a provider’s browser widget, follow its documented integration model rather than embedding a secret key in the page. Monitor unknown results, timeouts, and user complaints so you can investigate provider errors or false positives and adjust the fallback policy.

What the published figures can and cannot tell you

Pricing and accuracy statements are not comparable unless their definitions, date, volume, and terms match. Abstract’s page accessed in 2026 displayed competitor figures of 100 one-time free requests for Kickbox, 10 one-time free requests for NeverBounce, and 100 one-time free requests for Bouncer. It also displayed prices at 5,000 monthly validations of $40 for Kickbox and NeverBounce and $35 for Bouncer. These are Abstract’s comparison figures, not direct confirmations from those vendors; check each provider’s current pricing and contract terms.

Similarly, ZeroBounce’s stated 96–98% response-time figure and its 99.6% accuracy guarantee are vendor claims with different meanings. Neither establishes that ZeroBounce, or any other option here, detects more disposable addresses than its competitors. The cited vendor materials do not provide an independent cross-provider accuracy benchmark.

Make the choice against your own signup requirements

Shortlist providers by the signals and result states your product will actually use. Test how your flow responds to disposable, invalid, catch-all, unknown, and timed-out checks; verify the server-side or widget integration; and confirm processing region and current costs for your expected volume. Choose the provider whose documented behavior fits your risk tolerance and signup experience, rather than treating a single disposable flag or vendor accuracy claim as a complete fraud-control system.
