The right all-in-one printer depends on what you print, how often you print it, and whether low running costs or fast document output matters most. Current 2026 buying guides identify several options for distinct workloads, but the available evidence does not support a reliable ranking of ten models. The picks below are organized by use case instead of presenting an unsupported top ten.
How to choose an all-in-one printer
Start with your typical workload, not the printer’s brand or advertised purchase price. A household that prints occasional forms has different needs from a student printing frequent assignments or a small office producing multi-page documents every day.
- Frequency: Inkjet printheads can clog if a printer sits unused for long periods. For occasional document printing, a laser model may be a better fit.
- Output: Laser printers are typically faster and well suited to text. Inkjet printers generally handle photos and color graphics better.
- Running cost: Compare consumable yield and cost per print where available, not just the initial purchase price. Cartridge models, refillable ink-tank models, and laser printers have different consumables and cost trade-offs.
- Scanning workload: An automatic document feeder (ADF) can make multi-page scanning easier. Duplex scanning captures both sides of a page automatically when the model supports it.
- Color needs: If you mainly print text, consider a monochrome laser. If you need photos or color graphics, look at inkjet models, including refillable-tank options for frequent color printing.
These are general selection criteria, not a guarantee that every printer in a category has the same speed, print quality, or page cost. Check the exact model’s specifications and consumable compatibility before buying. RTINGS’ 2026 all-in-one printer guide is one current source for model comparisons.

Which type is likely to suit your workload?
Choose a monochrome laser for document-focused printing
If most of your output is text and you want an all-in-one that can print, scan, and copy, a monochrome laser is worth considering. The Brother MFC-L2750DW XL is one current editorial recommendation in this category. Check whether its exact configuration has the ADF and duplex-scanning functions you need.

Consider an ink tank if you print color regularly
Refillable-tank models are an option for buyers who want color printing and are comparing ongoing ink costs. The Canon MegaTank Pixma G3290 is a current guide recommendation for affordable tank printing; the Epson EcoTank ET-4950, Canon MegaTank G3270, and HP Smart Tank 5003 appeared in the October sale report. Those sale examples do not establish that their operating costs or features are interchangeable.
Look at business-oriented models for heavier workloads
For higher-volume home-office or small-business printing, the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 is named by Tom’s Guide for heavier business printing, while its guide also identifies the Canon Color imageCLASS MF753Cdw II as an all-rounder. Compare the exact models’ capacity, speed, scanning workflow, and consumable costs against your expected use before deciding.

Be cautious if you print only occasionally
Infrequent printing can be a poor match for some inkjet printers because their printheads may clog when left unused. If you print documents only now and then, compare laser options and the full cost of their consumables rather than choosing solely by a low upfront price.
