They solve different creative problems, so the best choice depends on what you need to make and how much control you want afterward. Its product page describes generating a song from a genre, mood, or idea, with vocals, lyrics, and production. Its pricing page also lists producer-focused features, so the workflow is not limited to generating a finished audio file.

On Suno’s pricing page as checked October 7, 2026, Free is listed at $0, Pro at $8 per month, and Premier at $24 per month. These provider-listed prices and limits can change.

Choose Stable Audio 3.0 when you need an instrumental bed or sound effect rather than a sung song. Stability AI’s comparison describes the model as generating instrumental music and sound effects, without singing, lyrics, or voice generation. The company positions it for sound design, game audio, and production music.

Hosted and self-hosted options
Stability AI’s comparison page, last updated September 9, 2026, lists hosted tiers ranging from Solo at $12 per month to Studio at $199 per month. It describes open weights for the Small, Small SFX, and Medium models, and Enterprise self-hosting for Large. Those are provider-listed options and prices; consult the linked page for current availability and terms.
What Stability AI says about the model’s training data
Stability AI reports that Stable Audio 3.0 was trained on 1,278,902 recordings: 806,284 AudioSparx files, plus 266,324 CC-0, 194,840 CC-BY, and 11,454 CC-Sampling+ recordings from Freesound. The company says it screened the Creative Commons material and removed copyrighted content identified in that screening. These figures and the screening description are Stability AI’s account of the Stable Audio 3.0 corpus, not an independent audit of every recording or a general statement about other music generators.

Eleven Music is worth considering if you want vocals or instrumentals but also expect to shape a track after its first generation. Its documentation describes controls for genre, style, and structure; multilingual output; and edits to the sound or lyrics of an individual section or a whole song. It identifies Music v2.5 as its most advanced model at the time checked, while v2 remains available.
Section editing, references, and exports
The documentation describes long-form composition section by section, mid-track genre transitions, and inpainting. It lists a maximum generated duration of five minutes and MP3 and WAV output. Audio Reference can use an uploaded track of approximately 30 seconds as creative guidance for qualities such as mood, sound, instrumentation, and production style.

Audio Reference is not documented as a remix or genre-transfer feature. ElevenLabs warns that results may be less reliable when the requested output differs substantially from the reference, so treat an uploaded track as guidance rather than a source you can freely transform.

Can you use AI-generated music commercially?
Commercial-use permission, a provider’s license, and copyright protection are different questions. Check the terms attached to the specific account and output, and do not assume that permission to distribute a track guarantees that it qualifies for copyright protection in your jurisdiction.

Why the wider licensing picture remains important
An Associated Press report dated February 26, 2026 described disputes between Suno and Udio and record labels, alongside efforts to negotiate licensing arrangements. AP quoted Suno co-founder and CEO Mikey Shulman saying, “We have always thought that working together with the music industry instead of against the music industry is the only way that this works,” The statement represents Shulman’s position. The report predates October 7, 2026, so it should not be treated as a definitive account of litigation or licensing status on that later date.
AI-generated tracks also became a larger share of uploads on one platform during 2025. OC&C Strategy Consultants reported that AI-generated tracks accounted for approximately 10% of Deezer uploads in January 2025 and approximately 34% in November 2025. It also reported total Deezer uploads rising from 3.0 million in January to 4.4 million in November. These figures concern uploads, not listening or stream share; OC&C attributes its analysis to PRS for Music, Deezer press releases, ElevenLabs press releases, Spotify, expert interviews, TuneCore, and its own analysis. No hardware controller is established as necessary for these tools. Suno lists MIDI features in Studio, but the available information does not establish direct compatibility with a particular MIDI keyboard controller. If a keyboard matters to your broader production setup, choose it for compatibility with your DAW, computer or device, and budget—not on the assumption that it connects directly to Suno.
