The best practical replacement for a 60-inch TV in 2026 is usually a current 58-inch model, not an old exact-60-inch set. The strongest near-size option found for the U.S. market is the Hisense 58-inch QD50R Series Hi-QLED 4K Roku TV, provided you confirm the exact model number and current stock before buying. If you insist on exactly 60 inches, look for the Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA—but only when new, authorized stock is available. Its reviewed Best Buy listing was sold out.

Buyers who can accommodate a larger cabinet should seriously consider a current 65-inch TV. That size has a much wider selection of OLED, mini-LED, QLED, and advanced LCD models than the shrinking exact-60-inch category.

Our top 60-inch TV picks for 2026

Category Recommendation Why it stands out Important limitation
Best closest-size option Hisense 58-inch QD50R Series Hi-QLED 4K Roku TV Only two diagonal inches smaller than a 60-inch TV and listed in Hisense’s current U.S. catalog It is a 58-inch TV; verify live stock, specifications, and the exact model code
Best exact-60-inch fallback Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA A genuine 60-inch 4K Crystal UHD model with Samsung’s Tizen platform The reviewed Best Buy listing was sold out; availability may be limited
Best performance strategy A current 65-inch TV Far more choice among OLED, mini-LED, QLED, gaming, and premium LCD televisions It is materially larger and may not fit existing furniture

These recommendations deliberately do not pretend that 58- and 65-inch TVs are 60-inch models. The exact-size market is thin enough that an honest buying guide needs to start with availability rather than manufacture a “top five” list from discontinued televisions.

Why true 60-inch TVs are difficult to find

Television manufacturers now commonly organize their mainstream ranges around 55, 58, 65, 75, and larger screen sizes. A true 60-inch model still exists, but it is no longer a well-populated mainstream category in the U.S.

For example, TCL’s current U.S. home-theater lineup moves between nearby size classes rather than centering a current premium range on 60 inches: its QM8 range starts at 65 inches, the QM7 range covers 55 to 98 inches, and the Q6 range covers 43 to 98 inches. You can review the current ranges on TCL’s U.S. TV lineup, but always check the exact size and model suffix before ordering.

Retailer filters can make the situation more confusing. A search for “60-inch TV” may group 55-, 58-, 60-, and 65-inch products together. Best Buy’s Samsung results, for example, use a 55–64-inch filter rather than a dedicated 60-inch category, with 55- and 65-inch models prominent in the results.

Also remember that the screen-size number is the diagonal measurement from one corner of the visible panel to the opposite corner. It is not the cabinet width. Two TVs in nearby size classes can have different bezel dimensions, feet positions, and stand footprints.

Best closest-size pick: Hisense 58-inch QD50R Series

For most people shopping around 60 inches, the Hisense 58-inch QD50R Series Hi-QLED 4K Roku TV is the most sensible starting point. Hisense’s U.S. catalog lists it as a current 58-inch 4K Roku TV, making it a more defensible new-product recommendation than an older exact-60-inch television found only in retailer archives.

If you are ready to compare current listings, look for the Hisense 58-inch QD50R Series 4K Roku TV by its complete model number. The product name alone is not enough: retailer listings, regional variants, panel specifications, warranty terms, and stock can change. Confirm that the listing is for the U.S. version and that the seller identifies the exact model.

Who should buy it

  • People whose furniture was designed for a screen close to 60 inches.
  • Shoppers who want a current product rather than a discontinued exact-size model.
  • Value-focused buyers who mainly watch streaming video, broadcast TV, and movies.
  • Buyers who prefer Roku TV’s interface and app ecosystem to Samsung’s Tizen platform.

What to expect

This is a value-oriented near-size TV, not an OLED replacement. Its attraction is the combination of a nearly 60-inch screen, 4K resolution, a current U.S. listing, and Roku TV—not proof of flagship-level contrast, brightness, motion handling, or gaming performance.

Check the live specifications before publication or purchase. Do not assume that every retailer listing under the QD50R name has identical refresh-rate, HDR, audio, warranty, or connectivity details.

Best exact-size fallback: Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA

The Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA is the clearest genuine 60-inch model identified in this research. Best Buy describes it as the Samsung 60-inch DU6900 Series Crystal UHD 4K Smart Tizen TV.

It is not the default winner because availability is the main problem. The Best Buy listing reviewed on August 12, 2026 showed the television as sold out. If you find one elsewhere, confirm all of the following:

  • The product is new rather than open-box, refurbished, or used.
  • The seller is reputable and the warranty is valid in your country.
  • The model number is UN60DU6900FXZA, not a similarly named 55- or 65-inch variant.
  • The final price is reasonable compared with current 58- and 65-inch TVs.
  • The retailer accepts returns if the set arrives damaged or does not fit.

If new authorized stock is unavailable or priced close to a newer 65-inch TV, the Hisense 58-inch option is the safer near-size purchase. If you can increase the available width, moving to 65 inches usually opens better choices.

Exact-size search: Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA. Treat this as an availability-dependent fallback, not a guaranteed in-stock recommendation.

Should you buy a 65-inch TV instead?

Yes, if your room and furniture allow it. The 65-inch category is the more active market in 2026. It offers substantially more current choices across OLED, mini-LED, QLED, and premium LCD technologies than the exact-60-inch category.

This does not mean that every 65-inch television is better than every 58- or 60-inch model. It means that you are more likely to find a television that matches a specific priority—picture quality, bright-room performance, gaming, or price—at 65 inches.

Choose a 65-inch TV by use case

  • Best picture quality: Compare current OLED models if you value deep blacks, strong contrast, and a cinematic image. Account for their higher prices, different brightness behavior, and the possibility of image retention with some types of long-term static content.
  • Best bright-room choice: Look at current mini-LED or advanced QLED/LCD models with strong measured brightness and effective local dimming. Do not infer real HDR performance from the panel label alone.
  • Best budget choice: A current 65-inch value LCD or QLED can provide a large 4K image at a lower price, but expect compromises in black levels, processing, motion, HDR impact, or build quality compared with premium models.
  • Best gaming choice: Check for the features your console or PC can use: HDMI bandwidth, variable refresh rate, automatic low-latency mode, input lag, and a 120 Hz—or higher—panel where appropriate.

Independent guides such as RTINGS’ current TV and 65-inch TV coverage can help identify models to investigate. Do not relabel a tested 65-inch model as a 60-inch recommendation, though: picture quality and test results can vary by size and regional model variant. Verify the exact U.S. size, model suffix, price, availability, and test coverage before making a final choice.

Important specifications to understand

60 Hz versus 120 Hz

Many affordable near-60-inch televisions use 60 Hz panels. Hisense documentation for the regional 58A6N family specifies a 4K panel with a 60 Hz frequency and lists ALLM and VRR support at 60 Hz. That can be perfectly adequate for normal TV, movies, streaming, and console gaming targeted at 60 frames per second.

It is not equivalent to a native 120 Hz gaming television. If you play on a modern console at 120 frames per second or use a gaming PC, check the exact panel refresh rate and HDMI capabilities rather than relying on terms such as “game mode” or “motion rate.”

  • 4K UltraHD Resolution: Experience incredible detail with 4X resolution of 1080p Full HD TVs.
  • QLED: Quantum Dot Technology enhances brightness and color for vibrant, lifelike picture quality.
  • Direct LED Backlight: Enjoy uniform brightness and rich contrast for a vibrant, immersive viewing experience.
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) with Dolby Vision: Enjoy enhanced contrast, accurate colors and fine details utilizing all the most advanced HDR formats.
  • Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games.

HDR format support is not HDR performance

Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ describe formats a television can decode or display. They do not prove that the set is bright enough to make HDR highlights impressive or that its contrast and local dimming are strong.

For a meaningful HDR upgrade, look for credible independent measurements of brightness, black level, contrast, blooming, and tone mapping. If those measurements are unavailable, treat format support as compatibility information only.

Smart-TV software

The Hisense QD50R uses Roku TV, while the Samsung DU6900 uses Samsung’s Tizen platform. Neither is automatically best for every household. Compare the interface, app availability, advertising, voice controls, update behavior, and how easily the TV works with an external streaming player.

An external streamer can also reduce the importance of the built-in platform, but it does not solve picture-quality, panel-refresh, stand-fit, or speaker limitations.

Built-in sound

Thin televisions have limited space for speakers, so built-in audio may be adequate for dialogue and casual viewing but underwhelming for films, sports, or music. A soundbar for a 4K TV is an optional upgrade, not a required purchase. Choose one only after deciding whether the TV’s speakers meet your needs and checking compatibility with the TV’s audio-output formats.

How to make sure a near-60-inch TV fits

  1. Measure the opening. Record the maximum available width, height, and depth. Include room for ventilation and cable bends.
  2. Check the manufacturer’s cabinet dimensions. Do not estimate width from the diagonal screen-size class.
  3. Measure stand spacing. A television may fit the opening while its feet do not fit the furniture.
  4. Decide whether wall mounting changes the calculation. A wall-mounted TV may avoid stand-width problems, but the wall, mount position, viewing height, and cable routing still matter.
  5. Verify the VESA pattern and weight. If mounting, use a VESA-compatible TV wall mount that matches the exact TV, wall type, weight rating, and desired tilt or swivel range.
  6. Confirm the return policy. This is particularly important for clearance stock, marketplace sellers, and televisions with confusing size filters.

What else you may need

  • Wall mount: Buy only after checking the selected TV’s exact VESA pattern, weight, and mounting instructions.
  • HDMI cable: A certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable can be appropriate for compatible 4K/HDR sources, a console, receiver, or soundbar. An expensive cable is not automatically better, and most ordinary 4K/60 connections do not require premium branding.
  • Soundbar: Consider a TV soundbar if dialogue clarity, volume, bass, or room-filling sound matters more than the built-in speakers provide.

60-inch models you should not treat as current first choices

The Samsung UN60TU7000FXZA and UN60JS7000FXZA are genuine older 60-inch models that may appear in retailer archives or used-market listings. The reviewed Best Buy pages identify them as unavailable in new condition. They can be considered only if you knowingly accept used or old-stock risks, including limited availability, aging hardware, uncertain warranty coverage, and weaker value than a current near-size TV.

Likewise, do not use international Hisense 58A6Q or 58A6N listings as proof that the same television is available in the United States. Regional model names can differ in tuner, software, warranty, connectivity, and specifications. The U.S. catalog evidence makes the QD50R the cleaner U.S.-market lead in this comparison.

Final buying checklist

  • Decide whether 58 inches is close enough, or whether 65 inches will fit.
  • Measure the furniture opening and stand spacing.
  • Check the exact cabinet dimensions, not just the diagonal size.
  • Confirm the complete model number and country version.
  • Compare the real panel refresh rate with your gaming needs.
  • Treat Dolby Vision and HDR10 support as format compatibility, not proof of premium HDR.
  • Compare Roku TV, Tizen, or an external streaming device based on your preferences.
  • Check seller reputation, warranty, return policy, price, and stock.
  • Recheck availability immediately before buying; TV inventory and promotions change quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a true 60-inch TV still exist in 2026?

Yes, but exact-60-inch models are difficult to find new in the U.S. The Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA is a genuine example, although the reviewed Best Buy listing was sold out. Most current searches are more productive when expanded to 58 and 65 inches.

Is a 58-inch TV noticeably smaller than a 60-inch TV?

It is two inches smaller diagonally, so the visible screen area is somewhat smaller, but it is usually the closest practical current size. Cabinet width and stand placement matter more for furniture fit than the diagonal label alone.

Is the Hisense 58-inch QD50R a 60-inch TV?

No. It is a 58-inch TV and should be described that way. It is recommended because it is close in size and is listed as a current U.S. product, subject to confirming live inventory and the exact model code.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Should I buy a 65-inch TV instead?

If your furniture and viewing distance allow it, 65 inches is often the better shopping category. It provides substantially more current choices in OLED, mini-LED, QLED, advanced LCD, and high-refresh gaming TVs.

Is 60 Hz enough for gaming?

A 60 Hz TV is suitable for gaming at up to 60 frames per second and for ordinary TV and movie viewing. Choose a genuine 120 Hz model with suitable HDMI bandwidth and VRR if you want 120-fps console or PC gaming.

Does Dolby Vision guarantee good HDR?

No. Dolby Vision and other HDR labels indicate format support. They do not guarantee high brightness, strong contrast, effective local dimming, or an impressive HDR image.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Buy the Hisense 58-inch QD50R if you need a current TV close to 60 inches and the exact U.S. listing checks out. Choose the Samsung UN60DU6900FXZA only when you find new, authorized stock at a sensible price. If your furniture permits another five inches, move to the 65-inch category for the broadest selection and the best chance of finding a TV matched to your picture-quality or gaming priorities.
