For most buyers, the best all-around 5G phone is the one that fits their budget and priorities—not the one with the most impressive 5G label. For a premium iPhone, consider the iPhone 17; for a high-end Android camera system, the Galaxy S26 Ultra; for a less expensive camera-focused Android, the Pixel 10a; and for a basic, feature-rich budget option, the Moto G Power 5G (2026). These picks reflect reviews and testing by the publications linked below, not hands-on testing by iTechGuides. Prices and network compatibility vary by US carrier and configuration, so verify both before buying.
Best 5G phones at a glance
| Best for | Phone | Why consider it | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium iOS | Apple iPhone 17 | Stuff praises its display, performance, ecosystem, and camera improvements. | No telephoto lens; USB 2.0 data speeds. |
| Premium Android cameras | Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra | A versatile multi-camera system, including two telephoto cameras, and a large OLED display. | Large, high-end handset; camera bump and privacy display can affect everyday use. |
| Lower-cost Android camera | Google Pixel 10a | PhoneArena and Tom’s Guide identify it as a camera-focused budget choice, with main and ultrawide cameras. | Tensor G4 and a feature set that falls short of some Pixel 10 capabilities. |
| Lowest-cost feature set | Motorola Moto G Power 5G (2026) | 1080p LCD, 8GB RAM, 30W charging, IP68/IP69 water resistance, headphone jack, and gesture controls, according to PhoneArena. | LCD rather than OLED and two years of OS updates in PhoneArena’s comparison. |
| Battery-first upper tier | OnePlus 15 | TechRadar’s Future Labs test reported almost 22 hours of constant use. | That is a controlled outlet result, not a promise of personal runtime; check local model availability and price. |
5G is now common across smartphones, so it is not a meaningful ranking criterion by itself. Camera versatility, battery life, screen, software support, size, operating system, price, and carrier compatibility are more useful ways to choose. Stuff notes that pretty much every smartphone is 5G compatible nowadays in its 5G phone guide.
Which 5G phone should you buy?
Choose iPhone 17 if you want a premium everyday iPhone
Stuff names the iPhone 17 its best premium 5G phone, citing its display, performance, ecosystem, and camera improvements. It is the straightforward choice for someone who prefers iOS without moving to the larger, more expensive Pro Max tier. The compromise is practical: Stuff flags the lack of a telephoto camera and USB 2.0 data speeds, which matter if you often shoot distant subjects or transfer large files by cable. See Stuff’s iPhone 17 assessment.
Choose Galaxy S26 Ultra if Android cameras are your priority
TechRadar names the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra its best Android camera phone. Tom’s Guide lists a 6.9-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and two telephoto cameras. That combination gives it more camera flexibility than a phone with only a main and ultrawide lens, but the large size is not for everyone. Tom’s Guide also flags the enlarged camera bump and says the privacy display affects brightness and viewing angles. It is a premium, large-phone option rather than a sensible default for every budget. See Tom’s Guide’s phone coverage and TechRadar’s phone roundup.

Choose Pixel 10a for a less expensive camera-focused Android
PhoneArena calls the Google Pixel 10a its budget camera pick, citing a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide, and wired charging up to 30W. Tom’s Guide says it retains the Tensor G4 and the 48MP/13MP camera setup, with some Pixel AI and call-management features, while lacking some features found on Pixel 10 models. Its US coverage places it under $500, but that is not a guaranteed current price: check the configuration and retailer listing when you shop. This is a better fit for a buyer who values camera features at a lower price than for someone seeking flagship-level performance. See PhoneArena’s budget 5G roundup and Tom’s Guide’s phone coverage.
Choose Moto G Power 5G (2026) for useful basics on a budget
PhoneArena highlights a 1080p screen, 8GB of RAM, 30W charging, IP68/IP69 water resistance, a headphone jack, and gesture controls. Those features make it worth considering if you want practical hardware extras and do not need an OLED screen. The compromises are substantial enough to check first: PhoneArena identifies an LCD panel and two years of OS updates, compared with six years for Samsung in its comparison. That update comparison is specific to the models and coverage in that roundup, not a claim about every Samsung phone. See PhoneArena’s budget 5G roundup.

Consider OnePlus 15 if tested battery endurance matters most
TechRadar includes the OnePlus 15 among its top phones and reports that its Future Labs test produced almost 22 hours of constant-use battery life. That is a lab-style outlet result under its test conditions; screen settings, signal strength, apps, and usage can make personal runtime very different. Use the result as evidence that the phone performed strongly in that test, not as a prediction that it will last nearly 22 hours for you. Check US availability and the exact model before treating it as an option. See TechRadar’s phone roundup.

Battery figures from different publications should not be treated as a head-to-head ranking unless their procedures match. TechRadar reports that the Galaxy S26 Ultra lasted 16 hours 10 minutes in its Future Labs battery rundown. Tom’s Guide also lists 16:10 for the phone, but the matching duration alone does not establish that the outlets used identical conditions. TechRadar reports almost 22 hours of constant use for the OnePlus 15 in its Future Labs test. Neither figure guarantees a particular owner’s screen-on time or days between charges. Read each result as a test outcome from the named publication, not a universal runtime specification. Sources: TechRadar and Tom’s Guide.

What to check before buying a 5G phone
- Confirm the exact US model and carrier support. 5G branding does not establish that every regional version supports the same carrier bands or service. Check the phone’s model number against the carrier’s compatibility information before ordering.
- Compare the camera system, not just megapixels. A telephoto camera adds a different kind of flexibility from a main or ultrawide lens; the S26 Ultra includes two telephoto cameras, while the Pixel 10a coverage describes main and ultrawide cameras.
- Decide whether screen type and size matter. The S26 Ultra’s 6.9-inch OLED is a large-screen choice; the Moto G Power’s LCD is a budget trade-off. If you prefer a compact phone, neither description alone proves a fit—check the device dimensions before buying.
- Check update support for the exact model. The Moto G Power’s two-year OS-update figure comes from PhoneArena’s comparison. Update commitments vary by model, so do not assume another phone’s policy applies.
- Verify current price, storage, and package contents. Prices can change and differ by configuration and retailer. The cited US coverage does not establish whether a charger is included in every regional package.
- Choose your ecosystem deliberately. If you rely on iOS or Android devices and services, that compatibility may matter more day to day than a small difference in processor or camera specifications.
How to read these ratings
The recommendations here synthesize named publications’ reviews rather than a single standardized test of every phone. TechRadar describes expert testing and Future Labs results; Tom’s Guide presents tested-phone recommendations; PhoneArena labels its budget roundup tested and reviewed; and Stuff says its team tests products. Their rankings differ in date, market, and method, so they are useful as attributed editorial judgments, not as one unified lab score. For a US purchase, confirm the specific model, carrier support, and live price because the cited guides do not establish a complete global ranking. See TechRadar, Tom’s Guide, PhoneArena, and Stuff.
