Berkshire Hathaway completed its acquisition of Taylor Morrison on July 24, 2026. Taylor Morrison and Berkshire-owned Clayton Properties Group together reported nearly 23,000 site-built home closings in 2025; the companies describe the combined operation as the fourth-largest homebuilding operation in the United States. Separately, a September 30, 2026 SEC filing identifies Berkshire as a 10% owner of Lennar. Lennar is not part of the Taylor Morrison–Clayton combination.
How Berkshire became a major homebuilder
Berkshire already owned Clayton Homes, whose business includes manufactured and site-built home construction as well as lending and financial services. The Taylor Morrison acquisition added a large site-built homebuilder to that portfolio. In its July 24, 2026 release, Berkshire said the Taylor Morrison and Clayton Properties Group teams would be integrated while continuing under Taylor Morrison’s CEO. The release described the resulting operation—not Berkshire as a standalone builder—as the fourth largest in the country.
The combined operation’s reported 2025 scale was nearly 23,000 site-built closings across 21 states and 52 housing markets, serving more than 700 communities, according to the Berkshire and Taylor Morrison acquisition announcement.

The ranking claim is based on home closings, not revenue, and refers to the combined Taylor Morrison and Clayton Properties Group operation. Builder magazine’s 2026 Builder 100 ranks individual builders by 2025 closings. Its figures show how the components and other major builders compare, but its individual-company rankings are not a ranking of Berkshire’s combined operation.

The individual-builder figures and ranking are from Builder magazine’s 2026 Builder 100, which ranks builders by 2025 closings. The combined-operation figure comes from the acquisition release; it is rounded and should not be treated as an exact total. A different metric, such as revenue, could produce a different order.
How much Lennar stock Berkshire owns
Berkshire’s Lennar position is a separate stock investment, not an acquisition of Lennar or a contribution to the Taylor Morrison–Clayton homebuilding operation. A Form 4 filed September 30, 2026 identifies Berkshire as a 10% owner and reports 26,034,436 Lennar Class A shares and 553,000 Class B shares following transactions through that date. The filing’s 10% owner label is the supported description; the share counts alone do not establish a combined percentage across both classes.
An earlier Berkshire Schedule 13G reported 13,111,741 Lennar Class A shares, or 6.2% of that class, as of June 30, 2026. That filing was submitted August 14. It is a different snapshot from the September 30 Form 4, so the two reports should not be presented as though they describe the same date or share position.
- Berkshire’s Schedule 13G reports the June 30, 2026 Class A position.
- Berkshire’s Form 4 reports the later position and transactions through September 30, 2026.
How Lennar differs from Berkshire’s builders
Lennar is one of the largest U.S. homebuilders, but it operates independently of the Berkshire-owned Taylor Morrison and Clayton businesses described above. Lennar delivered 82,583 new homes in fiscal 2025. Its annual report also says that as of November 30, 2025, 98% of its homesites were controlled through options with land banks, land sellers, and joint ventures. That figure illustrates Lennar’s land-light approach: controlling a homesite through an option or agreement is not the same as owning the land outright.

Berkshire’s housing exposure is also broader than site-built homebuilding. Its 2025 annual report attributes $12.9 billion in revenue and approximately $1.9 billion in pre-tax earnings to Clayton Homes, a business that includes manufactured and site-built construction and related lending and financial services. Those totals are for Clayton Homes as a whole, not just its site-built homes.

- Authentic, Real-World Construction Experience: The Pitsco True Scale House Framing Kit delivers a realistic construction model rather than simple assembly play. Students build a true 1:16 scale house model using 485 precision-cut balsa wood pieces, following professional-style house plans and construction methods aligned to real building practices. This architectural framing kit helps learners understand stud framing, scale lumber, and structural design in a way traditional model kits cannot.
- Blueprint Reading & Skill-Building: Designed as a hands-on architecture lesson for ages 14+, this model house framing kit guides students through a structured learning progression. Learners begin by interpreting blueprints, measuring to scale, and understanding architectural drawings before cutting, framing, and assembling the structure. The challenge builds accuracy, focus, and confidence, making it ideal for homeschooling, high school engineering projects, and blueprint reading practice tools.
- Choice-Based Design & Structural Comparison: Unlike most balsa wood house kits, this architectural model making supply allows students to choose between two realistic roof systems: truss or hip. Comparing a truss building kit to a hip roof framing model gives learners firsthand experience with real-world structural approaches used in residential construction, reinforcing problem-solving, interpretation, and decision-making while maintaining authentic construction standards.
- Classroom-Ready & Collaborative by Design: This classroom building kit is designed for individual or paired work, supporting collaboration and communication as students divide tasks, measure materials, and assemble the wooden house frame model together. Instructions are student-facing, with minimal teacher prep required beyond gathering shared tools. Projects can be stored safely during multi-week builds, making it well suited for extended classroom use.
- Career Pathways in Construction & Design: The True Scale House Framing Kit connects hands-on building to real careers in construction, architecture, engineering, drafting, and skilled trades. By applying construction terminology, reading plans, and working with a realistic construction model, students gain exposure to Career and Technical Education (CTE) construction concepts and civil engineering foundations, positioning this as a powerful architecture study kit and vocational training resource.
