The transactions’ listed prices imply a combined value of about $192 million—roughly $190 million, as the headline estimate. The SEC filing names Warren E. Buffett as a reporting person, but it does not say he personally chose or directed the purchases.
Which homebuilder did Berkshire buy?
The issuer is Lennar Corporation, a U.S. homebuilder whose shares trade as LEN (Class A) and LEN.B (Class B). Berkshire Hathaway and Buffett are listed as reporting persons in Lennar’s SEC Form 4, filed October 5, 2026. The filing records transactions made on October 1 and October 2. How many shares did Berkshire buy, and what were they worth?
The Form 4 reports the following purchases across October 1–2, 2026:

The SEC filing gives share counts and multiple weighted-average prices for transaction tranches, rather than one aggregate dollar total. Applying those listed prices to the reported quantities produces an approximate combined value of $192 million. That is a calculation from the filing, not a total published by the SEC; “$190 million” is a rounded headline figure. The transaction table and footnotes are in the Form 4.

Does the filing show that Buffett personally bought or chose the shares?
No. Buffett is named as a reporting person, but the filing says the shares are held by Berkshire subsidiaries. It reports 28,438,045 Lennar Class A shares and 568,028 Class B shares held by those subsidiaries. Berkshire may be deemed to beneficially own the subsidiary-held shares; Buffett may be deemed to beneficially own them only to the extent of his pecuniary interest, and he disclaims beneficial ownership except to that extent. The filing identifies reporting and ownership relationships; it does not identify who decided to make these purchases or why.
How does this fit Berkshire’s other homebuilder holdings?
These October purchases are later disclosures than Berkshire’s second-quarter portfolio snapshot. In August 2026, the Associated Press reported that Berkshire’s Lennar stake had risen nearly 30% in Q2, that its D.R. Horton position was worth $580,504 as of June 30, and that Berkshire completed its Taylor Morrison acquisition in July. The exposures also differ in form: Lennar and D.R. Horton are public-market shareholdings, while Taylor Morrison was acquired. The cited disclosures do not provide a like-for-like valuation or operating comparison among the companies.

The filing establishes that Berkshire-related reporting persons reported Lennar purchases at the stated dates and prices. It does not establish that Lennar is undervalued, explain Berkshire’s investment thesis, or predict the stock’s future performance. Nor does the filing attribute the investment decision to Buffett personally. A reported institutional purchase is a record of a transaction, not a recommendation for other investors.
