The BenQ PD2705Q is a 27-inch QHD creative monitor with useful USB-C connectivity, KVM switching and an adjustable stand. Its strongest fit is work aimed at sRGB or Rec.709—not every print workflow. BenQ specifies 100% coverage of those two color spaces, but the published specifications do not establish Adobe RGB or other wider-gamut coverage. If your print work depends on colors beyond sRGB, compare the monitor’s gamut with your actual proofing requirements before buying.

What you get with the BenQ PD2705Q

BenQ specifies an IPS panel with 2560 × 1440 resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate, 5ms GtG response time and 250 nits typical brightness. It is a QHD display, not a 4K monitor. BenQ also lists 1000:1 native contrast, 16.7 million colors and 109 pixels per inch. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. BenQ PD2705Q specifications

For everyday design work, the resolution gives you more workspace than Full HD at this screen size, while the stated 60Hz refresh rate makes this a productivity-focused display rather than a high-refresh gaming choice. Its HDR10 signal support should not be mistaken for high-impact HDR: the specified typical brightness is 250 nits, and T3 found that brightness limited the HDR experience. T3 review

Is the PD2705Q good for design and color work?

sRGB and Rec.709 work

BenQ specifies 100% sRGB and 100% Rec.709 coverage, making the monitor relevant for web graphics and Rec.709 video workflows. The manufacturer also advertises factory calibration, a calibration report for each unit, and average Delta E of 3 or less; it lists CalMAN Verified and Pantone Validated credentials. Those are BenQ claims, not proof that every individual unit will match a target perfectly. BenQ PD2705Q specifications BenQ PD2705Q datasheet

  • ERGONAMIC DESIGN: Create comfortably with tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments, ensuring the ideal environment for creativity and productivity.

There is also a reason to be cautious about treating a factory report or preset as a guarantee of exact results. PC Monitors tested one review unit after warming it for more than two hours, using a Datacolor SpyderX Elite with Bright Intelligence disabled. It measured gamma at 2.4 in the Standard preset; the OSD setting labelled “Gamma = 2.2” also measured 2.4. The reviewer said the 2.2 target was not achieved with the tested settings, while noting the deviations were not extreme and that unit variation exists. This is one unit and one test method, not evidence that every PD2705Q performs the same way. PC Monitors review and measurements

If your workflow requires a measured match, calibrate the individual monitor rather than relying on a generic ICC profile. A colorimeter can help characterize and calibrate that unit, but it cannot expand the colors the panel can display.

Print design: check the deliverable, not just the job title

The available specifications establish sRGB and Rec.709 coverage, but do not establish Adobe RGB or another wider-gamut space. That does not automatically rule out the monitor for every print designer: the relevant question is whether the colors in your intended deliverables, printer, paper and proofing workflow fit within its supported gamut. If the work requires colors outside that range, compare a wider-gamut display instead.

USB-C, KVM and ports

Connectivity is one of the PD2705Q’s strongest practical arguments. BenQ says its USB-C port carries video, data, audio and power over one cable, with up to 65W power delivery. The laptop must support the expected USB-C video and data functions, and 65W must be enough for its power needs. BenQ lists HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, a DisplayPort output with MST, USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB Type-B upstream and four downstream USB ports. BenQ PD2705Q specifications and FAQ

Yes, the PD2705Q has a KVM switch. It is designed to let you use one keyboard and mouse with two connected computers, sharing USB peripherals as you switch between them. In T3’s example, one computer connects over USB-C and the other over USB-B plus DisplayPort. You will need the appropriate upstream connections for both computers; video cables alone do not provide the USB path needed for peripheral sharing. T3 review

Can it charge a laptop over USB-C? Yes, up to 65W according to BenQ, assuming the laptop supports charging over USB-C. Whether that is sufficient depends on the particular laptop and its workload. T3 reported that 65W was enough for a 13-inch MacBook Pro but not a 16-inch MacBook Pro under full load; treat that as reviewer context, not a guarantee for current laptop models. Stand adjustment and included connections

The supplied stand supports tilt, swivel, 90-degree pivot and 140mm of height adjustment. The monitor also supports 100 × 100mm VESA mounting. BenQ lists a calibration report and DisplayPort, USB 3.0 and USB-C signal cables among the accessories, but says the signal cable supplied can vary by region. Check the box contents for your market if you need a particular cable. BenQ PD2705Q specifications

Modes and workflow features

BenQ lists sRGB, Rec.709, HDR, CAD/CAM, Animation, Darkroom and M-book modes, along with DualView, Auto Pivot and ICCsync. The company describes ICCsync as helping synchronize ICC profiles between the monitor and source device. These options are useful workflow features, but they do not change the panel’s stated gamut. Value and who should buy it

T3’s review, last updated on 21 July 2022, listed an asking price of £349/$399 and considered the monitor good value against equivalent screens at the time. That is historical pricing, not a current quote. Check the price and warranty in your region before deciding. T3 review

  • A good match: Creatives working primarily in sRGB or Rec.709 who value USB-C, KVM, a USB hub and a flexible stand.
  • Look elsewhere or compare carefully: Buyers who need 4K detail, verified wider-gamut coverage for a print workflow, brighter HDR performance or high-refresh gaming.
  • Before buying: Match the display’s gamut to your actual output, confirm your laptop supports USB-C video and charging at an adequate wattage, and compare the current regional price and warranty.
