Yes—the Bellroy Tokyo Tote has a padded sleeve intended for a 13-inch laptop, and reviews describe it as a 15L work-and-everyday bag. But a 13-inch computer may not leave enough room for the main zipper to close easily when it shifts upward or the tote is packed full. Edition matters: the June 2020 iMore review covers the original Tokyo Tote, while Pack Hacker reviewed the Tokyo Tote 2nd Edition.
Will a 13-inch laptop fit in the Bellroy Tokyo Tote?
Both reviews describe a sleeve for a laptop up to 13 inches. That rating answers whether a device of that screen class can fit; it does not guarantee that every 13-inch laptop will fit comfortably or allow the tote to zip closed. Device dimensions and the contents around it matter.
For the 2nd Edition, Pack Hacker reports that a 13-inch MacBook can fit, but the laptop may shift upward and interfere with the main zipper. A full load can create the same problem. Pack Hacker also notes that the sleeve is padded but has no false bottom, so the computer can strike the surface below when inserted. If you carry a laptop, consider a separate protective sleeve after checking its dimensions against your exact device.
What do the reviews say about capacity and organization?
The original and 2nd Edition reviews both list 15L capacity. The 2020 iMore review gives the original bag’s dimensions as 36 × 47 × 13 cm (14.17 × 18.5 × 5.12 in). Pack Hacker lists the 2nd Edition at 36.1 × 47 × 13 cm. These are review-reported specifications, not independent capacity tests.

Original Tokyo Tote
Karen S. Freeman’s iMore review describes a top zipper, a front pocket with an Aquaguard zipper, two smaller interior pockets, and two collapsible interior pockets for a bottle or umbrella. Those details apply to the original bag reviewed in 2020; confirm the pocket arrangement on the generation you are considering.
Tokyo Tote 2nd Edition
Pack Hacker lists a 0.6 kg (1.43 lb) weight and a 13-inch laptop sleeve for the 2nd Edition. The review’s practical warning is about packing: a laptop and other contents can obstruct the zipper, so a nominal 15L capacity does not mean every combination of bulky items will fit while still allowing the bag to close.

Is the Tokyo Tote comfortable when it is full?
The reviewers report different experiences. iMore’s Freeman found the handles comfortable and noted traction dots on their underside. Pack Hacker says the handles can dig into the shoulder when the tote is heavily loaded. Those accounts can coexist: a lightly or moderately loaded tote may feel fine, while weight concentrated in a full bag can make the handles less comfortable. If possible, assess it with a load close to what you expect to carry.

The 2020 iMore review describes the original Tokyo Tote as made with water-resistant fabric. Its Marine Blue sample used Baida Nylon made from recycled industrial materials; the review says other colorways used different nylon or canvas fabrics. That material description is specific to the reviewed colorway and should not be assumed for every color or for the 2nd Edition.

Which version should you check before buying?
Use the original-bag details from iMore as a description of the model reviewed in June 2020, not as confirmation of the current product. Pack Hacker’s 2nd Edition review is the relevant source for that generation’s listed weight and zipper caveat. Before purchasing, confirm the exact edition, pocket layout, material, price, availability, and warranty with the live seller or manufacturer listing; current details are not established by these reviews.

- Measure your laptop, including its thickness, and compare it with the actual sleeve dimensions if the seller provides them.
- Consider whether your usual load could push the laptop toward the zipper or make the handles uncomfortable.
- Check the current listing for the generation and colorway you intend to buy rather than relying on a review of another edition.
