Is the Belling IHK90BLK any good?
The documentation suggests a well-equipped induction hob on paper, with boost, timers, pan detection, child lock and residual-heat warnings. Those are manufacturer-listed features, not proof of cooking speed, noise, reliability or ease of use in a real kitchen. No independent test or verified owner-satisfaction data for the exact IHK90BLK was found.
Belling’s IHK80/90 Users Guide & Installation Handbook is dated 14 July 2014; its title identifies the family, not the IHK90BLK suffix. Controls, levels and preset settings
The guide describes touch-slider controls, an on/off control, pause, key lock, timers and a minute minder. It lists 13 power levels, with an operating range of 0–9 and boost as a separate operation. Three temperature presets are described: 42°C for melting or sauces, 70°C for keeping food warm, and 94°C for rapid simmering.
Boost and pan detection
According to the handbook, boost temporarily raises a zone’s power by 60% by drawing available power from a paired zone. It is time-limited and may switch off under thermal control, so it is not a promise of sustained maximum output.

The hob is described as detecting whether a suitable pan is present and reducing power when a pan is lifted. The handbook lists a child lock, residual-heat indicators, overheat pan detection and automatic shutdown if a hob is left unattended. These are useful safeguards, but do not replace turning a cooking zone off when finished.

What size cutout does a Belling IHK90 need?
For the 90cm model covered by the 2014 handbook, Belling specifies a cutout 855mm wide by 455mm deep, with 50mm minimum side and rear clearances. It also calls for at least 650mm between the hob and combustible shelving or an overhang above it. Extractor clearance must follow the extractor manufacturer’s instructions, and air inlets beneath the hob must remain unobstructed.
These are family-manual dimensions, not confirmation of the exact IHK90BLK installation drawing. Have the installer verify the appliance model and its current regional instructions before cutting a worktop or committing to cabinetry.

How much power does the Belling IHK90 use?
Belling’s 2014 IHK80/90 handbook gives a maximum total rating of 7.4kW at 220–240V, 50Hz. This is the hob’s stated maximum rating, not a measure of typical household energy use; actual consumption depends on how the zones are operated. The rating is significant for kitchen planning, so ask a qualified installer to confirm that the local supply and circuit are suitable under applicable regulations. The guide’s zone-by-zone ratings should not be assumed to apply to the IHK90BLK without confirming the exact variant.

What pans work on the Belling IHK90?
Use induction-compatible cookware with flat, good-quality bases. The handbook says the hob’s detection feature can indicate when a pan is unsuitable, and notes that poor-quality pans may create air gaps that affect temperature-control accuracy. If a pan triggers the warning symbol, use compatible cookware rather than trying to override the detection.
