The Beko BWDB8420W1 is a freestanding washer-dryer with an 8 kg wash capacity, a smaller 4 kg dry capacity, and a maximum 1400 rpm spin speed. Beko advertises a three-hour wash-and-dry cycle for 4 kg, but that is a manufacturer program claim—not an independent test result. Public information confirms its main specifications, not how well it performs in independent testing.
What is the Beko BWDB8420W1?
It is a combination washing machine and dryer, rather than two separate appliances. The exact model suffix matters: the Australia catalog identifies it as BWDB8420W1, SKU 457000015700. Do not assume specifications for a similarly named BWDB8420W apply to this model.
Beko lists Wi-Fi connectivity through HomeWhiz, including remote control and downloadable programs. The product information establishes feature availability, but does not establish how well the app works in practice. Beko lists 15 programs, including Cottons, Synthetics, Wool/Handwash, Quick, Shirts, Wash & Wear, Hygiene+ and a 4 kg Wash & Dry program. Consult the model-specific user manual for program instructions and load limits.
How much can it wash and dry?
Beko rates the machine for 8 kg of washing and 4 kg of drying. The drying capacity is half the wash capacity: you cannot assume a full 8 kg wash load can go straight into a drying program. If you intend to dry a washed load, plan for a smaller load or remove some items before drying. The 8 kg and 4 kg figures are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every fabric or load mix is suitable for those maximums. Beko’s New Zealand product page lists the capacities and 1400 rpm maximum spin speed.

How fast are its wash-and-dry programs?
Beko advertises its UltraFast program as washing and drying a 4 kg load in three hours. It also advertises Wash & Wear for 1 kg in one hour. These are the manufacturer’s stated program claims, not independently measured cycle times. Actual suitability and results depend on the load, fabric and selected settings; the available public independent-review information does not establish a tested cycle duration.
Beko also says its 60°C Hygiene program is approved by Allergy UK for allergen removal. That is a claim on the manufacturer’s product information, not an independent performance finding presented here. See Beko’s UltraFast feature page for the cycle claims.
What are the dimensions and installation considerations?
Beko lists dimensions of 84.5 cm high, 60 cm wide and 57 cm deep, and an unboxed weight of 68 kg in its Australia catalog. Those are the appliance measurements, not the space required to install or move it. Before ordering, check the local manual and installer guidance for hose connections, clearance, door swing and delivery access; measure the route to the installation location as well as the space where the machine will sit.

What are its published energy and water figures?
Beko’s Australia catalog lists the following local catalog and label figures. They are not a prediction of a particular household’s bills or consumption; use the applicable Australian label and program basis when comparing models.
| Measure | Australia catalog figure |
|---|---|
| Wash energy | 323 kWh |
| Dry energy | 141 kWh |
| Wash water | 69 L |
| Dry water | 26 L |
| Wash energy rating | 4 stars |
| Dry energy rating | 3.5 stars |
| WELS water rating | 4.5 stars |
These figures are published by Beko for the Australian market; do not treat them as directly comparable with figures from another market unless the label method and test program are alike. See the Beko Australia catalog listing for the specifications.
What do independent reviews establish?
CHOICE has a listing for the exact model. Its public page shows basic specifications, but its Expert Rating, performance scores and detailed pros and cons require member access. The public information therefore does not establish the machine’s dirt removal, rinsing, gentleness, efficiency, drying performance, noise, tested cycle times or comparative reliability. A visible specification table is not a substitute for those results, and this review does not claim hands-on testing.
CHOICE’s visible figures include the Australian catalog values above. Its displayed price is Australian and may become outdated. CHOICE’s model listing is useful for identifying what it publishes publicly and what is restricted to members.
Do the warranty and availability depend on where you buy?
Yes. The Australia catalog lists a two-year manufacturer warranty, an additional three years by registration, and a 10-year parts-only warranty for the inverter motor. The New Zealand product page instead lists a 10-year compressor/motor warranty. These are market-specific terms with different wording; check the current local warranty document and registration conditions before purchase rather than assuming one country’s coverage applies elsewhere.
At the time represented by Beko New Zealand’s product page, it reported no online retailers. A New Zealand retailer, Winnings, also has a listing for the model, but a product page alone does not confirm current stock. Check local availability directly with Beko or the retailer. The New Zealand product page and Winnings listing provide the respective regional product information.

Who should consider the BWDB8420W1?
Its combination format and listed dimensions may suit someone looking for one freestanding appliance rather than separate washer and dryer units. The key practical trade-off is its 4 kg drying limit: households that regularly want to dry a full 8 kg wash load should account for splitting loads or compare appliances with a drying capacity that better fits their routine.
Before choosing it, compare local models on the same basis: wash and dry capacities, complete wash-and-dry time for a comparable load, label energy and water figures, installation space and independently published wash, dry and noise results. The public exact-model review evidence does not support a performance ranking for this machine.
