The Beats 360 is a lightweight, wireless-only over-ear headphone whose strongest case is working out: it has a secure fit, IPX4 water resistance and interchangeable cushions. But at about $350, it is not an obvious all-purpose pick. Reviewers disagree on its sound and comfort, and it has no wired playback. Choose it for the workout-focused design and customizable fit—not if you need a wired connection or consistently balanced sound.

What the Beats 360 is—and who it suits

Beats positions the 360 as a colorful, customizable over-ear headphone for exercise and everyday listening. The removable ear cushions and headband cushioning let owners change the look and feel, with Performance Knit and UltraPlush options described in reviews. Apple’s Oliver Schusser told TechRadar: “We wanted to create a new ID, a new look, and a new over-ear headphone for a different purpose.” TechRadar’s review and interview discusses that design direction and the cushion kits.

The fit and cushion choice matter as much as the color. WIRED describes a secure fit for workouts, while SoundGuys found the knit option more comfortable and moisture-wicking. Those are reviewer impressions, not a promise that the headphones will fit every head or stay comfortable through every session. Cushion-kit availability and prices can change, so check current listings before buying.

Are the Beats 360 good for working out?

Working out is the clearest reason to consider them. The headphones have an IPX4 water-resistance rating, and reviewers call out their fit, physical controls and noise cancellation as useful in the gym. IPX4 is not a claim that the headphones are waterproof; follow Beats’ care guidance and avoid treating the rating as protection against immersion.

Beats 360 — Over-Ear Headphones with Interchangeable Cushions, Sweat & Water Resistance and Noise Cancellation — Black with Black Performance Knit Cushions
  • Beats 360 has interchangeable cushion options for both earcups and headband, so you can have a fresh set ready post-workout or a new color just to switch up your look. These over-ear noise-cancelling headphones are built for active lifestyles and all-day comfort.
  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) blocks out unwanted noise to help you focus, after adapting to your environment and unique fit — with up to 1.75x more noise cancellation than Beats Studio Pro.
  • The bespoke, high-fidelity acoustic platform delivers powerful bass and pinpoint precision across the tonal range with ultra-low distortion for the ultimate listening experience. Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking3 delivers immersive surround sound.
  • Ear cushions are built from acoustically engineered memory foam and shaped to fit comfortably over your ears, forming an optimal seal for incredible sound.
  • Exceptional call quality powered by an advanced AI-trained algorithm and beam-forming mic system that filters out background noise.

Tom’s Guide found the noise cancellation strong for gym use, and WIRED likewise presents the 360 as a particularly good workout option. SoundGuys highlights a tradeoff in the cushions: the tighter-sealing UltraPlush option can create a sense of pressure, while Performance Knit may feel more comfortable during exercise. Head shape, cushion choice and personal sensitivity all affect the experience.

The gym case is less decisive if you want one pair mainly for commuting or flights. Reviewers’ assessments of noise cancellation are not uniform across settings, and a gym-focused review does not establish how well it will handle an airplane cabin. If travel noise cancellation is your priority, compare headphones using that specific use case rather than assuming gym performance transfers directly.

How do the Beats 360 sound?

There is no single unqualified verdict on the sound. SoundGuys reports that the character changes substantially with listening mode, while WIRED criticizes the midrange. That makes mode selection part of the listening experience: try your preferred settings with familiar tracks before deciding whether the tuning works for you. The available reviews do not establish unpublished laboratory results for frequency response or noise cancellation, so those should not be treated as measured findings.

For a buyer who prioritizes a consistent, balanced presentation—or listens critically—the varying reviewer assessments are a reason to audition the 360 or compare it with alternatives. Its colorful design and workout features may be more compelling than its sound for that kind of listener.

Wireless-only playback is a significant limitation

The Beats 360 does not support wired listening. WIRED lists no wired connectivity; SoundGuys says USB-C is for charging only and that there is neither a 3.5 mm jack nor USB audio support. If you need a cable connection for a plane entertainment system, a wired source, or lossless playback, choose another model.

SoundGuys names the Beats Studio Pro as an alternative for listeners who want wired inputs; its review says that model supports USB-C audio and 3.5 mm connectivity. Compare the current price and features directly before choosing, since prices and availability change.

Comfort, weight and everyday use

WIRED lists the Beats 360 at 295 grams, while SoundGuys reports 294.5 grams for its review unit—a difference consistent with rounding. WIRED found the clamp strong for some everyday wearers. That pressure may help create a stable workout fit, but it can be a drawback over longer sessions or for people who dislike a tight seal. Cushion choice may change comfort, but does not guarantee a better fit for every wearer.

Tom’s Guide flags the lack of wear detection, so do not assume playback will automatically pause when you take the headphones off. The physical controls are a plus in that review, especially when adjusting playback during a workout.

Battery life and charging claims

WIRED and SoundGuys report a manufacturer-stated maximum of up to 32 hours of listening with ANC enabled; this is a specification, not an independently verified runtime result in those reviews. BGR reports Beats’ claim that a five-minute charge can provide up to one hour of playback. Actual battery life can vary with settings and use. BGR also reports a replaceable battery, but check current Beats service information for availability and terms in your region.

Is the Beats 360 worth about $350?

Reviews place the US price around $349–$350: WIRED listed $349 at Amazon on its September 2026 review page, and BGR reported $349.99 in September 2026. Those are dated listings, not a guarantee of today’s price or stock. Check the current retailer listing before purchase.

At that price, the 360 makes the most sense if you value a secure workout-oriented fit, IPX4 resistance and the ability to swap cushions. It is harder to justify as a general-purpose premium headphone if you want wired playback, dislike clamping pressure, or are particular about midrange sound. The $350 question comes down to whether its distinctive fit and customization are worth more to you than those compromises.

Verdict

The Beats 360 is a distinctive workout-first headphone, not a universally safe premium recommendation. Its changeable cushions, IPX4 resistance and secure fit will appeal to people who want headphones they can customize for exercise. Before paying around $350, consider whether you can accept wireless-only playback, potentially firm clamping and sound that reviewers find mode-dependent or imperfect in the midrange.
