The Beatbot Sora 30 and iSkim are two separate robots sold as one pool-cleaning system. The Sora 30 is the underwater unit for the pool floor, walls, and waterline. The iSkim floats on the surface and skims debris. Beatbot presents the pair as a way to clean both zones at once. Whether that makes it the best cleanup setup for your pool depends on your pool’s shape, depth, debris load, and how much you want to manage two machines. Beatbot’s claims about the Sora 30 come from its own product materials. The hands-on observations below cover the iSkim only.
How the two robots divide the work
The pairing only makes sense once you see which zone each robot is responsible for. Beatbot describes the Sora 30 as an underwater cleaner and the iSkim as a surface skimmer. The table below separates what Beatbot states from what the independent review observed.
| Item | Beatbot Sora 30 (underwater) | Beatbot iSkim (surface) |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning zone | Pool floor, walls, waterline, and qualifying shallow platforms (per Beatbot’s Sora 30 product overview) | Floating debris on the water surface (per Beatbot and the Tom’s Guide review) |
| Stated minimum water depth for platform cleaning | Over 8 inches (Beatbot product material) | Not stated in the materials reviewed |
| Stated minimum platform size | At least 3.3 feet by 3.3 feet (Beatbot FAQ on the bundle page) | Not applicable |
| Stated saltwater limit | Supported below 5,000 ppm (Beatbot) | Not stated in the materials reviewed |
| Stated runtime | Up to 5 hours floor-only; 4.5 hours floor, walls, and waterline (Beatbot laboratory test data, as stated in its FAQ) | Surface cleaning under one hour in the reviewer’s pool; up to two hours for larger pools (Tom’s Guide, July 8, 2026) |
| Basket | Default filter of 150 micrometers; ultra-fine basket listed as an optional accessory | 9-liter basket (as described in the Tom’s Guide review) |
| Independent hands-on testing | Not established by the evidence reviewed for this article | Tested by Mark Spoonauer, Tom’s Guide |

Pool shape, material, and depth
Beatbot says the Sora 30 works in above-ground and in-ground pools and lists several pool surface materials. Its platform guidance has two numeric limits: the water must be over 8 inches deep, and the platform must be at least 3.3 feet by 3.3 feet. A pool with a shallow step, bench, or ledge that falls outside those limits should not be assumed to be covered. For unusual shapes, surfaces, or depths, check the current manual and contact Beatbot support before buying.
#1 Best Overall
- Smart Water‑Surface Parking & One‑Touch Retrieval: The pool robot automatically rises to the surface when cleaning finishes or battery is low (<12%). It returns and parks at the pool edge, releases internal water for easy lifting, and stays floating. With one tap in the Beatbot app, you retrieve it effortlessly, no heavy lifting or dangerous pole fishing. Safe for all ages and easy on your back.
- Huge 6800 GPH Suction Power - HydroBalance Structure delivers industry-leading suction power that captures heavy debris like leaves in a single pass without clogging. Pro-results without the wait.
- Shallow-Water & Platform Cleaning - Our pool robot cleans all pool types, using ultrasonic sensors to identify ledges, platforms, and shallow areas down to 8 inches. No manual touch-ups required.
- Cleans Large Pools in One Session - Powered by a 10,000 mAh battery, our pool vacuum delivers up to 5 hours of continuous floor cleaning, covering up to 3,229 sq. ft. per charge. No interruptions.
- 5L Debris Capacity & 150 µm Filtration - Captures more debris per cycle with less emptying required. The 150 µm filter efficiently traps everyday debris to keep your pool clean and clear.
Saltwater use
Beatbot states that saltwater use is supported below 5,000 ppm. If you run a salt chlorine generator, measure your salinity before you buy, because the stated ceiling is the only saltwater figure the manufacturer gives.
Runtime
The FAQ lists up to five hours for floor-only cleaning and 4.5 hours when the robot cleans the floor, walls, and waterline together. These are laboratory figures from Beatbot’s own testing, not measurements from a neutral lab. Expect real pools to vary with debris, pool size, and conditions.

- Extreme 6800GPH Suction Power: Powerful 4-motor system generates an impressive 6800 GPH flow rate, creating superior suction power that handles everythings. Featuring the innovative HydroBalance Structure—a center-mounted pump design that minimizes water flow resistance and turbulence, greatly improving cleaning performance. The dual 130mm brushes create an extra-wide 260mm cleaning path, while the bottom-hugging design ensures optimal suction contact with all surfaces.
- Precise Cleaning for Platforms & Shallow Areas: The M1 can identify and clean every accessible surface in your pool. The intelligent system actively seeks out platforms and shallow areas as low as 20cm deep that other cleaners simply cannot reach. Using two ultrasonic sensors and real-time obstacle detection, it systematically covers floors, walls, waterlines, and surfaces without getting stuck or missing critical areas.
- SonicSense Obstacle Avoidance: Dual ultrasonic sensors deliver collision-free cleaning. The front sensor detects walls, steps, and fixtures for safe edge approach, while the bottom sensor reads slopes and angles for smart wall-climbing. Unlike bumper-reliant cleaners that get stuck or cause damage, this system prevents collisions by calculating optimal paths around ladders, drains, and lights.
- Powered by an industry-leading 10,000mAh battery system: The pool robot delivers unmatched endurance for complete pool cleaning in a single session. The intelligent power management allows for up to 5 hours of continuous floor cleaning, easily covering pools up to 3,200 sq ft (300m²). Pool owners can start the cleaner and walk away, confident that their entire pool will be thoroughly cleaned without interruption, regardless of pool size or debris load.
- Smart Water Surface Parking: Unlike conventional cleaners that sink to the bottom and require dangerous fishing with long poles or heavy lifting from deep water, this automated parking system transforms robot retrieval from a challenging chore into a simple, effortless task that's safe for users of all ages and physical capabilities, ensuring optimal convenience while protecting your back and joints from injury.
Mode switching and filtration
The Sora 30 can change cleaning mode through the app, but only when it is at the water surface. Switching while it is on the floor or a wall is not supported. The default filter is 150 micrometers. An ultra-fine basket is available as an optional accessory, and it is not part of every package. Confirm the included parts on the listing you buy.
Warranty and purchase terms
The bundle page lists a two-year warranty for the Sora 30 and a three-year warranty for the iSkim, with 30-day return terms for qualifying direct purchases. Dealer sales may use different terms, and the page can change. When I checked the bundle page, it showed a preorder and shipping notice, so confirm current stock, delivery dates, and price before ordering.

What the iSkim review found
Tom’s Guide’s Mark Spoonauer updated his iSkim hands-on review on July 8, 2026. He reported that the iSkim surface-cleaned his pool in under an hour and that larger pools may take up to two hours. He also said the robot tried to pick up his floating pool thermometer, even though it has obstacle avoidance. Keep loose floating items out of the pool while the iSkim runs.
These are one reviewer’s observations in one pool. They are not guaranteed results, and the review does not test the Sora 30 or the two robots operating together. The solar charging and app features the review describes apply to the iSkim.

Do you need one robot, the other, or both?
Use these questions to decide what your pool needs.
Recommended Free Tools
- Buy the Sora 30 alone if your main problem is algae, sediment, or dirt on the floor and walls, and you can skim floating debris by hand or with a net.
- Buy the iSkim alone if leaves and surface debris are your main issue and the floor stays reasonably clean on its own.
- Buy the pair if you want both zones handled without manual skimming and your pool falls within the Sora 30’s stated depth, platform, and salinity limits.
- Look elsewhere or ask Beatbot first if your pool has a feature outside those limits, such as a shallow platform smaller than 3.3 feet by 3.3 feet or water shallower than 8 inches for that section.
The cost comparison and the manual-skimming argument
Tom’s Guide framed the buying question in July 2026 as whether a robot costing $499 at list price ($369 on sale at Amazon) is worth it when a $20 net and 20 to 30 minutes of manual skimming can handle the surface. That is a fair way to frame the trade-off. The prices and time estimate come from the reviewer at that date. They may not match current prices in your market, and the 20 to 30 minute figure is not a universal benchmark.
Best Value
- Full Pool Coverage: Covers every inch—water surface, waterline, floor, walls, and shallow areas as low as 8 inches.
- Advanced Surface Cleaning: The industry-first JetPulse system uses dual water jets to create four streams that guide leaves and other surface debris straight into the suction inlet. Fast and precise.
- Long-Lasting Battery: Powered by a 10,000 mAh battery, it runs up to 5 hours on floor cleaning and covers up to 3,200 sq. ft. per charge. More cleaning, fewer recharges.
- Smart Surface Parking & One-Touch Retrieval: Automatically surfaces, parks at the pool edge, drains internal water for easy lifting, and stays afloat. Tap once in the Beatbot app to bring it back.
- Powerful Suction: The HydroBalance Structure delivers 6,800 GPH of suction, picking up heavy debris in a single pass without clogging.
A practical way to test the claim is to log how long you spend skimming each week and how often you do it. If that time is short and the surface stays clean, a net is probably enough. If you spend most of the summer fishing out leaves, a surface robot is easier to justify.
Checks before you buy
- Measure your pool’s depth at any shallow platform, step, or bench, and measure the platform’s length and width. Compare them with the 8-inch and 3.3-foot by 3.3-foot limits.
- Measure salinity if you run a salt system. Confirm it is below 5,000 ppm.
- Check the Beatbot bundle listing for the exact contents, warranty, and return terms, then confirm the same details with the seller if you buy from a dealer.
- If you want the ultra-fine basket, verify that it is listed for the Sora 30 and is in stock before you rely on it for fine debris.
- Remove loose floating objects such as thermometers, toys, and cords before starting the iSkim.
Where the evidence stops
The available evidence supports three points: the pair is designed to split surface and underwater cleaning, Beatbot lists specific depth, platform, and salinity limits for the Sora 30, and one reviewer found the iSkim cleaned his pool in under an hour. It does not establish how the Sora 30 performs in varied pools, how durable either robot is over multiple seasons, how long batteries last outside Beatbot’s test conditions, or how the pair compares with competing brands. Those questions need longer testing before anyone can call this the best option.

The Bottom Line
The Beatbot Sora 30 and iSkim is a credible pairing for owners who want both the floor and the surface cleaned without manual skimming, provided the pool falls within the Sora 30’s stated depth, platform, and salinity limits. It is not established as the best system overall. Confirm your pool’s measurements, the bundle’s contents, and current pricing before you buy.
