The be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 650W (BN342) is a modular, 650W continuous-output power supply with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. Its published specifications and a limited independent test summary suggest a capable Gold-rated unit, but the product page mixes ATX 3.0 and ATX 3.1 language. Confirm the exact unit’s label and included GPU cable before buying, and judge 650W against your complete system rather than your graphics card alone.
What the Pure Power 12 M 650W is
BN342 is the model’s manufacturer article number. The manufacturer lists a standard ATX form factor, modular cables, 650W continuous output and 720W peak power. Its technical table specifies ATX form factor version 3.0 and EPS 12V version 2.92. The listed dimensions are 160 × 150 × 86 mm, and the listed weight is 1.55 kg. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not measurements from the independent report. be quiet!’s Pure Power 12 M 650W product page.

Does it have a 12VHPWR or 12V-2×6 cable?
The product page has mixed revision language. Its current promotional copy describes ATX 3.1 / PCIe 5.1 compliance and a native 12V-2×6 connector, while the technical specifications table lists ATX 3.0 and 12VHPWR. That mismatch does not establish which standard applies to every BN342 unit or what cable is in a particular box.
Before ordering or installing, check the exact unit’s packaging and label, then verify the included GPU cable and connector against your graphics card. Do not assume that the web page’s newer promotional wording proves that an older or differently revised unit includes the same cable. The manufacturer’s product page is the reference for its published claims, but the physical unit and included cable are what matter for compatibility.

Is 650W enough for your graphics card?
There is no universal yes-or-no answer based on the GPU model alone. The available specifications establish the PSU’s rated output, not whether it has sufficient headroom for a particular build. Compare the graphics card’s recommended PSU capacity and connector requirements with your CPU, other components, likely peak and transient demand, and the exact PSU revision.
- Check the GPU maker’s power recommendation and required power connector.
- Include the CPU and the rest of the system’s loads rather than treating GPU wattage as the whole calculation.
- Confirm the PSU has the correct included GPU cable; do not rely on an adapter or connector assumption without verifying compatibility.
- Check that the motherboard and CPU power leads match your board.
- Measure PSU-bay clearance against the listed 160 mm length, and allow room for cable routing and connector bend clearance. Bend clearance was not measured in the available test description.
If your system’s power requirements or transient demands are close to the PSU’s capacity, consult the component manufacturers’ recommendations and choose appropriate headroom rather than treating 650W as a guarantee.

What independent testing says—and does not say
PSU Circuit’s October 24, 2025 test-report description characterizes regulation as steady, ripple as compliant, excursion handling as flawless, efficiency as aligned with 80 PLUS Gold, and protections as performing as expected. It also notes the absence of hybrid fan modes and premium extras. PSU Circuit’s test-report description.

Is the Pure Power 12 M 650W quiet?
be quiet! advertises a temperature-controlled 120 mm fan and quiet operation. The independent report description available here does not provide noise measurements, fan-speed data, or listening conditions, so it cannot establish how loud the unit is at a given load or in a particular case. It also notes that the PSU lacks hybrid fan modes; buyers seeking a fan-off mode should verify that feature rather than infer it from the quiet-operation claim.
Pure Power 12 vs. Pure Power 12 M: what is different?
These are separate products, despite their similar names. The Pure Power 12 650W page describes ATX 3.1 / PCIe 5.1 compliance and a single 12V rail. The M model’s page lists two 12V rails and presents mixed generation language between its promotional copy and technical table. Do not transfer the non-M model’s specification to BN342. be quiet!’s Pure Power 12 650W product page.
