Short answer: the public evidence does not support buying the Bauhn ATV40UHDW-0124 new. CHOICE lists the model as discontinued, its only published overall score is 61%, and the detailed test breakdown sits behind CHOICE’s member-only paywall. If you already own one, or are looking at a used set, it is a 40-inch 4K LCD with a webOS smart platform, and the checks below will tell you whether it suits your room and your needs.
What the exact model’s listing establishes
CHOICE’s product page for the ATV40UHDW-0124 is the most complete public source on this model. The figures below are as CHOICE lists them. The price is historical and the product is marked discontinued, so none of these figures indicate current stock or a current offer.
| Attribute | ATV40UHDW-0124, as listed by CHOICE |
|---|---|
| Screen size and type | 40-inch LCD, glossy screen |
| Resolution | 3840 × 2160 (4K) |
| Smart platform | webOS Hub (LG) |
| Listed smart apps | Amazon and Stan |
| HDMI inputs | Three |
| USB inputs | Two, rear |
| Weight | 7.1 kg |
| Dimensions (H × W × D) | 60 × 93 × 23 cm, as listed |
| Warranty | One year |
| Country of origin | China |
| Energy Star rating | 5. CHOICE’s listing does not publish an annual energy-use figure, so none is given here. |
| Historical price | $329 (CHOICE listing; not a current price) |
| Status | Discontinued |
Two practical notes follow from that table. First, the three HDMI inputs and two USB ports are the connections you will live with, so count your devices before you commit. Second, the webOS platform is the smart layer; the listing names Amazon and Stan as available apps, but it does not claim full coverage of every streaming service, so confirm any service you rely on before buying or relying on a used set.
The rating, and what it does not tell you
The only overall score published for this exact model is a CHOICE Expert Rating of 61%, reported with the $329 price in The New Daily’s June 2024 coverage. That figure is CHOICE’s, reported secondhand, and it is the single number you can cite without a CHOICE membership.

What it does not give you is a breakdown. CHOICE’s detailed rating and component results for this model are member-only, and the public listing does not expose picture, sound, or interface scores. Do not infer any of those from the overall 61%. An overall number can hide a strong picture paired with weak sound, or the reverse, and a used buyer usually cares about exactly that split.
What CHOICE says about Bauhn TVs in general
CHOICE’s September 2025 article on Aldi’s Bauhn televisions is useful context, but it is not a review of this model. The article says CHOICE had not tested the specific 40-inch ATV40UHDW-0124 discussed in the buyer-advice piece. It reports that the Bauhn sets CHOICE has tested have generally received average results, and that none met CHOICE’s recommendation threshold.

- Designed for concrete, brick and wood studs wall (single stud).
- Designed for TVs up to 80 lbs (36.3 KG) and display sized 26" - 55" (66 CM - 140 CM).
- Designed for VESA sized from 3.9'' x 3.9'' through 15.7'' x 15.7''.
- Comfortable View with tilt range from +10° to -5°.
CHOICE TV expert Denis Gallagher is quoted in that article saying: “So far we haven’t really seen a Bauhn TV that’s performed especially well.” That is a remark about Bauhn televisions generally. It is not a finding that Gallagher tested or evaluated the ATV40UHDW-0124, and it should not be read as a verdict on this set’s picture, sound, or apps.
Put plainly, the brand-level evidence leans cautious, and the model-level evidence is limited to one overall score. Neither supports a claim about a specific weakness in this TV, so this article does not make one.

Who this review is for
- Owners of an existing ATV40UHDW-0124 who want to confirm connections, the smart platform, and whether a replacement remote is available.
- Buyers of a used set who need to judge whether a 40-inch 4K panel with three HDMI inputs fits a bedroom, study, or kitchen.
- Shoppers comparing replacements who want a clear baseline before committing to a current model.
If you are buying new from a retailer, this model is not the right place to start. The discontinued status, the single published score, and the absence of a public component breakdown mean you would be paying for a TV you cannot fully evaluate on public evidence.
Owner support: the remote
Tempo’s accessory listing names the BAUHNWEBOS-REM1 as a replacement remote and includes the ATV40UHDW-0124 in its compatibility list. This is supplier-listed compatibility, not independent testing, and it does not confirm that the remote is in stock at any particular seller.

Before buying a replacement remote:
- Find the model code printed on the back or side label of your TV and confirm it reads ATV40UHDW-0124, not the later ATV40UHDW-0324.
- Match the remote code, BAUHNWEBOS-REM1, against the seller’s compatibility list.
- Check the seller’s returns policy in case the remote does not pair with your set.
Comparing a replacement TV
If you are using this model as a benchmark for a new purchase, judge candidates on the same axes rather than on resolution and price alone:

Related model: ATV40UHDW-0324
Bauhn’s official page for the ATV40UHDW-0324 is a different, later model. It lists 4K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, Wi-Fi, two USB ports, HDMI with ARC, optical and headphone outputs, a 200 × 200 mm VESA mounting pattern, and webOS TV. Use these as facts about the -0324 only, and verify them independently before applying any of them to the -0124.

The -0324’s official manual describes a 12-month warranty under Australian Consumer Law. That is not proof of the warranty terms for the -0124, where CHOICE’s listing states one year.
Bottom line on buying this TV
For a new purchase, the ATV40UHDW-0124 is hard to recommend on the public evidence: it is discontinued, its only published score is 61%, and CHOICE’s broader comments on Bauhn sets are cautious. For an existing set or a used one, it is a 40-inch 4K LCD with three HDMI inputs, two rear USB ports, and webOS, and it is worth confirming the model code, the remote, and your services before you rely on it.
