The Baseus PicoGo Air AM71 is a compelling everyday magnetic power bank if you value a slim pocket profile more than a full phone recharge. Macworld measured it at 6.8mm thick and 105g, and its test took an iPhone 16 Pro from nearly empty to 82% before the pack ran out. It supports 15W Qi2 wireless charging—not 25W Qi2.2—and Baseus claims up to 22.5W over a wired connection.
What is the Baseus PicoGo Air AM71?
The AM71 is Baseus’s 5,000mAh magnetic power bank, designed to attach to a compatible iPhone and charge wirelessly. Be precise about the model: Baseus sells several PicoGo products, including the AM31, AM41 and AM52, and specifications for those models should not be treated as AM71 specifications. The Baseus PicoGo family page shows the broader lineup; for this review, the relevant product is the Baseus PicoGo Air AM71 5000mAh magnetic power bank.
Macworld’s review measured the AM71 at 4 × 2.8 × 0.27 inches (102 × 71 × 6.8mm) and 3.7oz (105g). That makes it unusually easy to carry, though not the thinnest of the compared packs: Macworld measured the BMX SolidSafe Air 5K at the same 6.8mm thickness. The Baseus is lighter than that rival, however.
How thin and light is it compared with alternatives?
Macworld’s September 29, 2026 comparison offers a useful snapshot of three slim 5,000mAh magnetic packs. The figures below are that publication’s measurements; they do not establish that one product is best for every buyer.

The AM71’s strongest case is the combination of minimal thickness and lower weight than the other two measured packs. It does not win on thickness alone: it ties the BMX at 6.8mm. Macworld describes the BMX as semi-solid-state, while its account identifies the Baseus as conventional lithium-ion; that chemistry distinction may matter to shoppers comparing designs, but it does not by itself establish a performance or safety advantage.
How much charge does its 5,000mAh battery deliver?
The 5,000mAh label describes nominal battery capacity, not a promise to refill every phone from empty. Macworld reports the AM71’s energy capacity as 19.4Wh and tested it by attaching the pack when an iPhone 16 Pro had reached its lock screen from a near-dead start. In that test, the phone reached 82% before the power bank ran out.

For context, Macworld reported a 77% average across the 5K power banks in its own test set. That is the publication’s comparison average, not an industry-wide result. The AM71’s result is also specific to the iPhone 16 Pro and the test conditions Macworld described; a different phone, starting charge, usage pattern or charging condition can produce a different outcome.

How fast does the Baseus PicoGo Air charge?
Wireless: 15W Qi2
Macworld identifies the AM71 as a 15W Qi2 charger. It does not support Qi2.2’s 25W wireless charging, so do not mistake the wired-output figure in Baseus’s product copy for its wireless charging rate.

Wired: up to 22.5W, according to Baseus
Baseus advertises up to 22.5W wired fast charging on its AM71 product page. That is a manufacturer claim for wired charging, not a wireless speed or an independently reported test result. The product page listed a USB-C wired charging connection; check the listing for the exact port and included-accessory details before buying.
What is NFC PowerSense?
Baseus describes NFC PowerSense as a tap-to-pair feature that connects the power bank with its app for live battery monitoring. Android Central also notes NFC PowerSense on the AM71. The sources cited here do not establish a complete list of supported phones or regional availability, so confirm compatibility for your device and location before relying on the app features.

What does the AM71 cost, and what should you verify?
Baseus’s US product page listed the AM71 at $69.99 USD when checked in 2026. That is a point-in-time listing, not a guaranteed current price or a statement about availability in other countries. Check the official AM71 listing for current price and stock.
There is also an inconsistency in Baseus’s own thickness copy: its feature text says “0.2-inch,” while the detailed product text says 0.27 inch. Macworld’s measured 6.8mm is approximately 0.27 inch, so this review uses the measured figure rather than the shorter feature-copy number.
