Bank of America reportedly raised its Micron revenue and earnings estimates for fiscal 2027 and 2028 after the company’s September 30, 2026 results. The revised figures come from Invest Daily Pro’s account of the bank’s research, not Micron guidance, and could not be independently checked against the original Bank of America note. The bullish case rests on AI-related memory demand and customer commitments; the “memory tax” points to the counter-risk that higher memory costs could curb data-center spending or weaken demand in price-sensitive markets.

What Bank of America reportedly changed

Invest Daily Pro says Bank of America raised its Micron estimates following the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 release. It reported these revisions and said the bank reiterated a $1,550 price target and named Micron among its top AI picks. The precise estimates are not independently verified against the original Bank of America note, and they are not company guidance or market consensus. Invest Daily Pro’s report

Fiscal year Reported revenue estimate Reported prior revenue estimate Reported EPS estimate Reported prior EPS estimate
2027 $275.4 billion $230.3 billion $171.78 $140.24
2028 $317 billion $244.1 billion $197.90 $145.45

All estimates in the table are attributed to Invest Daily Pro’s October 3, 2026 account of Bank of America research. The report does not establish that the figures represent a consensus forecast. Its reported $1,550 price target is an analyst target, not a guaranteed share price or a promise of return. Invest Daily Pro’s report

What Micron reported and guided

Micron’s fiscal 2026 results show why the forecast revision matters, but they must be kept separate from an analyst’s forward estimates. The company reported fiscal Q4 2026 revenue of $54.23 billion, GAAP net income of $37.70 billion, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $33.42. For the full fiscal year, it reported revenue of $133.19 billion and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $75.52. Micron’s fiscal Q4 and FY2026 release

Micron’s fiscal Q1 2027 company guidance was revenue of $61.5 billion, plus or minus $1.5 billion, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $38.15, plus or minus $1.00. Management also said it expects fiscal 2027 to be stronger than fiscal 2026, citing AI-driven demand, execution, and strategic customer agreements. These are company expectations, not Bank of America estimates. Micron’s fiscal Q4 and FY2026 release

Micron reports GAAP and non-GAAP figures separately. Its non-GAAP measures exclude specified items and may not be comparable with similarly named measures at other companies, so non-GAAP EPS should not be treated as interchangeable with GAAP earnings. The company also cautions that forward-looking statements are subject to risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially. Micron’s fiscal Q4 and FY2026 release

Why customer commitments support the bullish case

On Micron’s fiscal Q4 2026 earnings call, CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said more than 75% of fiscal 2027 output was already committed, counting strategic customer agreements (SCAs) and other customer commitments. He said customer discussions were extending into 2028. That level of visibility can help explain why analysts might expect strong revenue beyond the next quarter, but it does not mean every unit is sold at a fixed price or that forecast earnings are assured. Micron’s fiscal Q3 2026 SEC filing describes SCAs as take-or-pay agreements with binding commitments for specified volumes over multi-year terms. Pricing varies: some agreements use fixed prices or minimum and maximum price bands, while a minority have neither and remain subject to market conditions. The contracts can improve visibility and stability, but they do not remove risks around demand, prices, margins, or eventual contract performance. Micron’s SEC filings

What the “AI memory tax” means

The phrase describes a potential cost burden, not a formal tax rate. As memory prices rise, AI data-center operators may have to spend more to build or expand infrastructure. A June report summarizing earlier Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya commentary said those higher costs could weigh on customer capital spending and potentially destroy demand in price-sensitive markets. That is a risk thesis, not evidence that demand destruction has already occurred or a quantified impact on Micron’s revenue. Invest Daily Pro’s report

This creates a tension in the outlook: strong demand and committed volumes can support Micron’s sales, while higher component costs can make some customers reconsider how much capacity to buy or deploy. The balance may differ by customer and end market; a broad claim that every AI buyer will absorb higher prices, or that every price-sensitive market will retreat, is not established by the reported figures.

How durable is Micron’s AI-driven earnings growth?

The evidence supports a strong near-term outlook, but it does not settle how long elevated earnings can last. Micron’s reported results and first-quarter guidance are substantial, and management’s comments about committed output and customer discussions into 2028 point to demand visibility. At the same time, commitments do not by themselves establish future pricing or margins, and the company said it could not see when supply and demand would return to balance.

“Even with additional industry DRAM clean room space plans with robust demand trends, including new upside requests from customers, we do not have line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance.”

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, fiscal Q4 2026 earnings call. Call transcript

Capacity additions could eventually ease tight supply, but the available company commentary does not give a date for market balance. Until supply, demand, and contract pricing become clearer, estimates extending into fiscal 2028 depend on assumptions about an evolving cycle—not just on current customer commitments.

The central caution is cyclical earnings normalization: strong pricing and utilization can lift profits sharply during a tight-memory market, but those conditions may not persist. The reported Bank of America estimates assume a favorable path for revenue and earnings; Micron’s own warning about forward-looking statements is a reminder that actual results can differ materially. How to read the forecast as an investor

  • Separate the numbers: Micron’s historical results, its Q1 guidance, and estimates attributed to Bank of America are three different categories.
  • Watch the contract mix: More than 75% of output committed is a volume-visibility measure, not a guarantee of fixed pricing across all units.
  • Track the buyer-side constraint: Rising memory costs may pressure data-center budgets or price-sensitive demand, but the reported “memory tax” is a possible effect rather than a measured result.
  • Keep the cycle in view: The timing of capacity response and a return to supply-demand balance remains uncertain according to Micron’s CEO.

The reported reset is best understood as a more bullish analyst view of a strong AI-memory cycle, not proof that Micron’s current earnings trajectory or the reported price target will endure. This is financial reporting, not individualized investment advice.
