Axis Asset Management Company announced on 9 October 2026 that it is entering India’s Specialized Investment Fund (SIF) segment under the Accelerate SIF brand. It plans offerings in equity and hybrid categories, but has not yet announced individual schemes, their terms or launch dates.
What is Accelerate SIF?
Accelerate SIF is Axis AMC’s announced brand for its entry into the SIF segment. The announcement outlines a platform and planned categories rather than investment products available to evaluate: Axis said scheme-specific details would be shared closer to each launch. Axis AMC’s announcement does not specify individual strategies or terms.
What has Axis announced so far?
- Brand: Accelerate SIF.
- Planned categories: Equity and hybrid.
- Business lead: Nandik Mallik will lead the SIF business. Business Standard reports that Mallik previously served as CIO at Avendus Capital Public Markets Alternate Strategies LLP and was involved in launching a long-short fund at ICICI Prudential AMC.
- Investment approach: Axis says it intends to emphasize fundamental research, high-conviction ideas and risk management through focused capabilities and disciplined product development. These are stated priorities, not evidence of performance.
Who is leading the business?
Nandik Mallik is named to lead Axis’s SIF business. Business Standard reports his prior roles at Avendus Capital Public Markets Alternate Strategies LLP and involvement in a long-short fund launch at ICICI Prudential AMC; those career details are attributed to the publication.
In remarks reported in Hindi by Business Standard, MD and CEO B. Gopkumar said, in English translation, that investors’ needs are changing and demand is growing for options suited to specific portfolio objectives, alongside attention to regulation and investor protection. CIO R. Sivakumar said, in English translation, that Accelerate SIF gives the firm more flexibility to identify and benefit from investment opportunities.

How does SIF fit into India’s investment landscape?
SIFs encompass several strategy types, including equity long-short, equity ex-top-100 long-short, hybrid long-short, active asset allocator and sector rotation. NISM reported 14 strategies, more than 44,000 folios and more than ₹10,000 crore in assets under management as of March 2026. These are figures for the wider SIF category, not for Accelerate SIF or Axis specifically. NISM’s SIF information provides category context.

Axis has not yet provided the information needed to assess or compare a specific Accelerate SIF investment. The announcement does not state:
