AWS Marketplace began offering AI agents and related tools from AWS Partners on July 16, 2025. Buyers can search listings, compare capabilities such as MCP and A2A support, purchase through AWS Marketplace, and deploy selected products through Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime or connect API-based tools with AgentCore Gateway. The catalog spans pre-built agents, agent-enabled software, development tools, and professional services—not just standalone chatbots.

What AWS launched

AWS added third-party AI agents and tools to AWS Marketplace, giving customers a central place to discover, evaluate, buy, and deploy partner solutions. AWS says its marketplace search supports natural-language queries, while listings provide information buyers can use to assess capabilities and deployment options. AWS’s launch announcement describes the offering as a way to find and buy partner-built agent solutions through familiar procurement workflows.

The marketplace is a catalog and procurement channel, not a single AWS-built agent. Each listing comes from a partner and may have its own product design, integrations, pricing, deployment requirements, and availability. Check the individual listing for the current details that apply to your account and region.

What you can buy

AWS groups the catalog into five broad types. Some products are autonomous agents; others provide components, software, or services used to build and operate agentic systems. AWS Marketplace’s AI agents and tools page describes the available categories and use cases.

Category What it includes
Software with embedded agents Existing software products that include agent capabilities.
Pre-built agents Ready-made agents for defined tasks, such as code review, customer support, sales proposals, or data analysis.
Agent tools Components such as MCP servers, knowledge bases, guardrails, web-search tools, and business-logic components.
Agent-development solutions Products intended to help teams create or operate agentic applications.
Professional services Partner services for planning, building, integrating, or supporting agent solutions.

AWS characterizes agents as software systems that can reason and plan, use tools, retrieve information, call APIs, update systems, and adapt based on results. Tools are more focused components—such as a knowledge source, integration protocol, or guardrail—that an agent can use. The distinction matters when comparing listings: a tool may need to be connected to an agent or application, while a pre-built agent may already provide an end-to-end workflow.

Use cases listed across the marketplace include software development, research, content creation, marketing automation, security, finance, legal and compliance work, procurement, customer service, and data analysis. A category label is a starting point, not proof that a product fits a particular workflow; review the listing’s features, integrations, and requirements.

How to evaluate and buy an agent

  1. Discover: Search using a description of the task you want to solve, or browse relevant use-case categories such as customer service, content creation, data analysis, security and compliance, or marketing automation.
  2. Evaluate: Compare the listing’s stated features, protocol support, deployment method, compliance information, ratings, and whether it offers a free trial. Confirm that the product works with your required data sources, APIs, and operating environment.
  3. Purchase: Subscribe through the standard AWS Marketplace workflow. Depending on the listing, pricing may be pay-as-you-go, contract-based, or negotiated with the seller.
  4. Deploy and connect: Follow the product’s deployment instructions. Marketplace products may be offered as SaaS, API-based products, containers, AMIs, or other supported types. Selected agents can run in AgentCore Runtime; API-based products can be connected through AgentCore Gateway.

For a fair comparison, look beyond the agent’s advertised task. Assess use-case fit, protocol support, deployment model, security and compliance information, integration effort, pricing structure, and how much operational control your team retains. The Marketplace page reports 60% procurement-time savings and 30% faster deployment, attributing both figures to Forrester Consulting’s 2025 commissioned study, The Total Economic Impact of AWS Marketplace. Those are study findings for a composite organization, not a forecast or guarantee for every customer.

How AgentCore, MCP, and A2A fit in

AgentCore Runtime and Gateway

AgentCore Runtime is an execution option for selected pre-built marketplace agents and tools. AgentCore Gateway helps an agent connect to API-based marketplace products. The two services address different parts of deployment: Runtime runs supported agent workloads, while Gateway provides a route for connecting tools exposed through APIs.

AWS buyer documentation describes a dynamic-endpoint flow for certain API-based products: after the customer subscribes and the seller registers the product, a personalized endpoint can be resolved, and credentials can be delivered through AWS Secrets Manager. This is not a universal setup for every listing, so check the product’s instructions and supported integration path. AWS Marketplace buyer documentation for AI agents explains the available buyer workflow.

MCP and A2A support

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an interoperability signal for connecting compatible AI applications and tools. AWS says many marketplace solutions support its MCP server and can integrate with Claude Desktop, Windsurf, Amazon Bedrock Agents, and other MCP-compatible platforms. Listings may also advertise A2A support. Treat protocol badges as a prompt to verify the exact integration: support can vary by product, version, and deployment method.

When comparing protocol claims, confirm which side of the connection the listing supports, whether extra configuration is required, and whether that connection is available in your intended environment. Protocol support alone does not establish that a product meets your security, governance, or workflow requirements.

What changed after launch

On October 31, 2025, AWS announced several updates: contract-based and usage-based pricing for AgentCore Runtime containers, Quick Launch OAuth credential management for API-based agents and tools, and support for remote MCP servers purchased through Marketplace as AgentCore Gateway targets. These additions give partners more pricing options and can reduce setup work for supported integrations. AWS’s AgentCore update announcement describes these changes.

Marketplace inventory, prices, regional availability, protocol support, and deployment options can change. Confirm current terms and compatibility on the live listing and in the relevant AWS buyer documentation before committing to a product.

Why the marketplace matters

For buyers, the marketplace brings third-party agent discovery together with AWS procurement, billing, governance, and deployment paths. That can make evaluation and purchasing more familiar to organizations already buying through AWS, while still leaving product selection and integration decisions to the customer.

For partners, AWS presents Marketplace as a route to reach customers, streamline sales, offer flexible pricing, and expose capabilities such as MCP and A2A support. The practical value for either side depends on the specific listing, the buyer’s existing AWS environment, and how much work remains to integrate and govern the solution.
