Avast does not publish a standard installation time for Avast One, so there is no reliable official minute estimate. The steps vary by device: desktop users download and run an installer, while Android and iOS users install from their app stores. Initial setup prompts—and, for paid features, activation—come after or alongside installation.
Why there is no fixed installation time
Avast’s installation instructions explain how to install Avast One but do not give an expected duration or a timeout for deciding that setup is stalled. They also do not quantify how internet speed, device performance, or other conditions affect elapsed time. It would therefore be misleading to promise that installation takes a particular number of minutes or to rank platforms by speed.
It helps to distinguish the app download and installation from the initial setup that follows. Permissions, system settings, welcome screens, and optional paid-feature activation can add steps, and these differ by platform.
What to expect on each device
| Platform | Documented installation route | What may follow |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Download and open the installer, approve the Windows User Account Control prompt if it appears, then select Install. | Continue into Avast One after setup completes. |
| Mac | Download and open the installer image, then follow the privacy, license, user, and installation prompts. | Approve required system settings or permissions when prompted. |
| Android | Open the Google Play listing, tap Install, and tap Open when the app is installed. | Complete initial welcome screens and any requested permissions. |
| iOS | Open the App Store listing, download Avast One, and open it. | Follow the initial setup prompts. |
These are differences in the documented setup process, not measured time comparisons. The official instructions do not say that app-store installation, desktop installation, or first-run configuration takes the same amount of time. See Avast’s installation instructions for the current platform-specific steps.

Installation and paid-feature activation are separate
Installing the app does not necessarily activate its paid features. Avast documents several activation routes, depending on platform and how the subscription was purchased:

- Enter an activation code.
- Restore an app-store purchase.
For some third-party reseller purchases, Avast describes exchanging a purchase code for an activation code. The relevant steps are in Avast’s Avast One activation instructions. Activation is an additional account or purchase step; it is not an installation-time estimate.
