The Ausclimate WDH-316DB Compact+ 16L is a small refrigeration dehumidifier with laundry mode, a 2.4-litre tank and continuous drainage. What does the 16-litre rating mean in practice?
Ausclimate rates the unit at 16 litres per day when tested at 30°C and 80% relative humidity. That is a defined, warm and humid condition. In a cooler or drier room, a refrigeration dehumidifier should not be expected to keep removing water at that rate; the available sources do not provide a measured extraction figure for typical household conditions.

The manufacturer’s recommended maximum space is 25 m² or 62 m³, and its brochure specifies a 4 m² minimum room size. It lists a 5–32°C operating range. These are manufacturer’s use guidelines, not proof that every room within those dimensions will reach a particular humidity level. Room conditions and the moisture load matter, and the manual’s instructions should guide placement and operation.

Noise and power: manufacturer figures, not test results
Ausclimate lists input power at 300 W and noise at 37 dBA in dry mode, 40 dBA on low and 41 dBA on high. The accessible specification does not establish independently measured power consumption, running cost or noise in a home. A rated input figure alone is not an energy-cost estimate: actual cost depends on how long the unit runs and the electricity tariff.
What independent testing establishes—and what it does not
CHOICE has a review page for the WDH-316DB, classifies it as a refrigeration dehumidifier and marks the model discontinued. The page lists test categories including water-removal score, energy efficiency, ease of use, power consumption and measured tank capacity, but the values and Expert Rating are member-only in the accessible result. Ausclimate’s specification sheet states a full two-year domestic warranty, and its warranty page places WDH-316DB in the two-year dehumidifier group. But the specifications alone cannot establish how well a particular used or old-stock unit performs, how much it will cost to run, or whether its price is competitive. For a purchase decision, verify condition, availability, warranty and the return policy, and compare independently measured results with another model tested under the same conditions.
