The AudioSolutions Figaro M2 is a customizable, three-way floorstanding speaker with strong published sensitivity and a demanding measured impedance load. Reviewers praise its bass and smooth presentation, but amplifier compatibility deserves careful attention: Hi-Fi News measured impedance minima of 2.4 ohms and an EPDR dip to 1.1 ohms. Its price also varies by market and configuration, so compare a dealer’s quote for the exact finish and options you want.
What is the AudioSolutions Figaro M2?
The Figaro M2 is a rear-ported, three-way floorstander from AudioSolutions. It combines a 19 mm silk-dome tweeter with Mini-Horn loading, a 15.2 cm ER paper-cone midrange, and two 18.3 cm ER paper-cone bass drivers. AudioSolutions lists crossover points of 400 Hz and 4,000 Hz. AudioSolutions’ product page describes the Mini-Horn and its Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet construction as design features; those explanations express the manufacturer’s intent, not independent proof that distortion or resonance is eliminated.

The manufacturer’s 30 Hz in-room response is not the same measurement as Hi-Fi News’s laboratory result: that publication measured extension to 36 Hz at -6 dB relative to 200 Hz, with the rear ports tuned to 28 Hz. Treat these as different conditions, not interchangeable figures or a direct contradiction. Hi-Fi News’ lab report gives the measurement context.

Published listening impressions are positive, but they reflect individual rooms and reviewers rather than a controlled comparison.

- Bass and placement: What Hi-Fi?/Australian Hi-Fi praised the bass and reported that it worked well both near a rear wall and farther out in the reviewer’s room, including with the base flush to the skirting board. That is useful evidence of flexibility in that setup, not a universal placement guarantee. Read the review.

What do the measurements mean for amplifier matching?
The nominal 4-ohm label does not tell the whole story. Hi-Fi News measured impedance minima of 2.4 ohms at 123 Hz and 2.06 ohms at 2.06 kHz, with an EPDR minimum of 1.1 ohms between 80 and 100 Hz. Its report says impedance stays below 8 ohms from 60 Hz to 20 kHz and records a -53-degree phase angle at 67 Hz. These results make the M2 a potentially demanding load, particularly in the bass region.
AudioSolutions suggests amplifiers rated from 10 to 300 W, but that range is not a guarantee that every amplifier within it will suit every room or listening level. Check the amplifier maker’s guidance for low-impedance operation, and consider room size and how loudly you listen. If you are unsure, ask an experienced dealer to confirm compatibility with your specific amplifier and system before buying.

Hi-Fi News also reported individual response errors of ±2.5 dB and ±2.6 dB, and a 5.7 dB mismatch between the pair across the stated top-octave portion of the midrange bandwidth. That sample-pair finding is worth noting if matching consistency is a priority; it does not establish the performance of every pair.

Get a current local quote for the exact finish and options rather than converting one of these figures into a presumed price for another market. Hi-Fi News reported more than 500,000 possible configurations; that is the publication’s count, not an independently audited total. Its review also relayed a UK distributor estimate of about one month for a custom build, which should not be treated as a current delivery promise.
What can you customize, and what should you check before ordering?
Review and retailer material describe configurable finishes and trim. Optional isolation feet are also mentioned; Gaia II feet were included in one reviewer’s custom US configuration. They are an option, not a requirement or a guaranteed sound improvement. Confirm the finish, trim, any binding-post or cabling choices, included accessories, configured price, and lead time with the seller.

- Measure the space for the cabinet and, if selected, outriggers. The speaker weighs 45 kg each, so plan for safe delivery and positioning.
- Ask about the exact configuration and whether the quoted price includes optional feet or other accessories.

- If possible, listen in your room or arrange a return option that accounts for the speaker’s size and weight.
Who is the Figaro M2 for?
The M2 may suit a listener looking for a large, customizable floorstander whose published reviews describe capable bass and an unforced, smooth balance. It is less straightforward if your amplifier is not comfortable with low impedances, your room cannot accommodate a 45 kg speaker, or you need a predictable off-the-shelf configuration and price. Within the Figaro family, Hi-Fi News identifies the S2 as a smaller floorstander and the L2, XLM2, and XL2 as larger floorstanders; choose among them by cabinet scale, driver complement, room needs, and current dealer pricing rather than assuming the M2 is the right size for every space.
