The Audio Desk Systeme Gläss Vinyl Cleaner Premium is an automatic ultrasonic record washer that cleans both sides, filters its fluid and air-dries the record. In ecoustics reviewer Ian White’s month-long trial, it made record cleaning feel easy enough to encourage more secondhand buying, and he reported clean, dry records with no wet labels. Those are useful hands-on observations, not controlled proof that it cleans better than competing machines. At the reviewed U.S. price of $3,599, its strongest case is convenience for someone cleaning records frequently—not a promise to repair damaged vinyl.
How does the Vinyl Cleaner Premium clean records?
The Premium combines ultrasonic cleaning with four rotating microfiber rollers, two contacting each side of the record. Audiodesksysteme Gläss says vibration in the cleaning liquid creates and collapses bubbles; the rollers contact the record as fluid circulates through a filter that collects dirt. The machine then air-dries the record and raises it slightly for removal. The manufacturer’s product page describes the mechanism and current revisions.
The ecoustics review describes a 4.5-liter reservoir filled with distilled water and approximately 20 ml of Audio Desk concentrate. It reports that a complete cycle takes about five minutes, including roughly three minutes of drying. Those detailed operating figures come from the review; the manufacturer separately advertises three-minute drying. The standard configuration handles 12-inch LPs, while optional adapters enable 7-inch and 10-inch records.

The reviewer found his unit quiet enough to use while working, but noted that drying was louder than cleaning. No published ultrasonic operating frequency for the Premium was identified in the review, so a frequency should not be inferred from another machine.

How clean did records get in the review?
White says he cleaned about 200 records in a little over a month. In that run, roughly a dozen records needed a small nudge to begin rotating. He reported that no labels became wet and that no record emerged damp. These are the reviewer’s observations of his sample and use; they are not a lab test, a controlled comparison or a guarantee of the same results with every record.
The practical appeal in his account was not a measured percentage reduction in noise. It was that automatic cleaning was simple enough to make processing a pile of used records less of a chore. The manufacturer’s page also reproduces historical praise from reviewers about earlier Vinyl Cleaner machines, but those opinions date to 2014 and 2015 and do not establish controlled results for the current Premium revision. What the machine can—and cannot—fix
Cleaning can remove contamination; it cannot restore damaged grooves. The ecoustics review cautions that no record-cleaning machine can repair scratches, groove damage, non-fill, off-center pressings or wear caused by a damaged stylus. If a record remains noisy after cleaning, the cause may be physical damage or a pressing defect rather than dirt.
Is $3,599 worth paying?
The ecoustics review listed a U.S. MSRP of $3,599 in 2026, and Music Direct displayed the same U.S. price when accessed in 2026. The manufacturer’s German listing showed €2,799 in 2026. These are market-specific listings, not interchangeable currency conversions, and prices can change. The price makes sense most readily as a time-and-effort purchase. White argues that the automatic process is hard to justify for someone washing only a few records each year, but more plausible for a collector with a large backlog or a dealer handling used stock. That is a value judgment based on his experience, not a universal break-even calculation.
White mentions a $79.99 manual Spin-Clean and a $1,200 VPI HW-16.5 as comparison points, along with the HumminGuru. Those are prices and products cited in his review, not a current market survey. He says he had not tested competing machines with similar cleaning technology, so the available evidence does not establish that the Audio Desk cleans better than those alternatives. A fair buying comparison should account for price, manual versus automatic work, cleaning method, whether both sides are cleaned together, supported record sizes, cycle and drying time, consumables, warranty and local service.

What accessories and upkeep should buyers consider?
The manufacturer sells 7-inch and 10-inch adapters separately; they are optional if you clean only standard 12-inch LPs. It also lists a replacement set containing five concentrates, one wet filter, four microfiber rollers and two wipers, described for 500 records. That bundle description is not necessarily a replacement interval for every component. The review notes that two concentrate bottles are included with the machine.

Who should consider it?
- Frequent cleaners: If you regularly process used records or have a substantial backlog, the automatic cycle may be valuable because it reduces hands-on effort.
- Occasional listeners: If you clean only a handful of records a year, the high purchase price is difficult to justify on convenience alone.
- Collectors seeking a cure for damage: Do not buy it expecting scratched, worn or defective records to be restored; cleaning cannot repair those problems.
