G930AUCU4CRE4 is Android 8.0 Oreo firmware for the U.S. AT&T Galaxy S7 (SM-G930A); G935AUCU4CRE4 is the matching AT&T build for the Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935A). Both are 2018, binary-4 releases—not current Android updates. Verify the exact model and bootloader revision before downloading. Also note that the original CRE4 rollout was primarily an incremental OTA transition, while later complete Oreo Odin packages were distributed separately.

Download pages: SM-G930A AT&T CRE4 and SM-G935A AT&T CRE4. These are third-party archives, not Samsung support pages; verify checksums where provided and do not assume a mirror guarantees an intact file.
The build notation is practical identification: G930A and G935A identify the flat S7 and S7 edge AT&T models, U belongs to the U.S. Qualcomm software family, U4 is bootloader revision 4, and CRE4 identifies this Oreo build. Match the entire model and revision, not just “S7” or “Oreo.”
Compatibility: which phones can use these files?
Use these packages only on the U.S. AT&T models SM-G930A and SM-G935A. The S7 and S7 edge packages are not interchangeable.
#1 Best Overall
- Brand New Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F
- 32GB SIM Factory Unlocked GSM Phone
- GSM Version phone it will NOT work on CDMA Network such as Verizon, Sprint or US Cellular.
- Do not flash them to international Exynos models such as
SM-G930ForSM-G935F. - Do not use them on Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Canadian, Korean, or other carrier variants.
- An unlocked AT&T phone still needs the AT&T model firmware; “unlocked” does not change its model number.
- Do not attempt a binary downgrade. A phone already on a bootloader newer than revision 4 will normally reject CRE4 with a revision error.
AT&T model-specific listings are available at the SM-G930A AT&T index. Samsung’s model-separated release documentation is another reminder that Galaxy S7 firmware families are not universal: Samsung firmware documentation.
Check the phone before downloading
From Android
Open Settings → About device (or About phone) and record the model number, baseband version, Android version, and build number. Stop if the model is not exactly SM-G930A or SM-G935A.
From Download Mode
- Power the phone off.
- Hold Volume Down + Home + Power.
- At the warning screen, press Volume Up.
Confirm that Download Mode identifies the expected model and shows its binary information. If it does not, exit rather than guessing.

| Method | Use it when | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Official OTA | The stock phone is offered an AT&T update | The 2018 rollout was phased and may no longer be offered |
| Recovery OTA ZIP | The phone is on the exact required source build | An incremental ZIP verifies model, region, signature, and source build |
| Full Odin package | Restoring stock software or recovering a modified/non-booting phone | Windows required; using CSC commonly erases data |
| Later full Oreo build | You want a complete Oreo flash without the original OTA transition | A later build such as CRJ2 is not the CRE4 build |
Historical coverage published June 12, 2018 (updated July 14, 2018) described CRE4 as an OTA after first placing the phone on Nougat G930AUCS4BRC1 or G935AUCS4BRC1. The instructions and Oreo feature list are documented by AndroidSage. An OTA ZIP cannot be treated as an Odin TAR file or installed over an arbitrary Nougat build.
Files in a four-file Odin package
| Odin slot | Purpose | Typical CRE4 filename |
|---|---|---|
| BL | Bootloader | BL_G930AUCU4CRE4…tar.md5 or BL_G935AUCU4CRE4…tar.md5 |
| AP | System and core images; largest file | AP_G930AUCU4CRE4…tar.md5 or AP_G935AUCU4CRE4…tar.md5 |
| CP | Modem/radio | CP_G930AUCU4CRE4…tar.md5 or CP_G935AUCU4CRE4…tar.md5 |
| CSC | Carrier configuration; normally clean-install behavior | CSC_ATT_G930AATT4CRE4…tar.md5 or CSC_ATT_G935AATT4CRE4…tar.md5 |
| HOME_CSC | Attempts to preserve user data, when supplied | Package-dependent |
Some historical archives used an AP filename ending in .md5 even though Odin expected .tar.md5. DroidViews documents that archive-specific issue at its installation guide; do not rename every Samsung file as a routine step. Later mirrors generally provide conventional extensions.
Original CRE4 recovery-OTA route
Use this route only when you have the exact matching Nougat base and the correct signed ZIP.
- Back up personal files and authentication data.
- Flash the matching Nougat four-file package:
G930AUCS4BRC1for the S7 orG935AUCS4BRC1for the edge. - Copy the corresponding CRE4 OTA ZIP to internal storage or a microSD card.
- Boot stock recovery and choose the option to install the update ZIP.
- Reboot after verification and installation. ADB sideload was also documented as an alternative.
If recovery reports that verification failed, the source build, model, region, ZIP, or signature is wrong. Do not force the update.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Full Odin installation
Back up first. A CSC flash generally performs a factory-style reset; HOME_CSC may preserve data but never guarantees it. Charge above 50 percent, use a reliable USB cable, and understand that flashing cannot repair failed storage, a damaged motherboard, or another hardware fault.
- On a Windows PC, install Samsung USB drivers and extract the firmware archive with a dependable archive utility.
- Extract and launch a compatible Odin release. The 2018 guide specifically recommended patched Odin 3.13.1 for Oreo and reported
emmc_appsboot.mbn.lz4errors with other versions; treat that as historical, package-dependent guidance rather than a Samsung guarantee. - Enter Download Mode and connect the phone. Odin should show a detected COM port.
- Load the matching files: BL into BL, AP into AP, CP into CP, and either CSC or HOME_CSC into CSC.
- Leave Re-Partition disabled. Do not add PIT files unless a service procedure specifically requires one.
- Click Start and do not disconnect the cable. Wait for PASS and the reboot.
Troubleshooting
Odin does not detect the phone
- Reinstall Samsung drivers, try another USB port or cable, and confirm Download Mode.
- Close other Android utilities that may hold the connection and run Odin with appropriate Windows permissions.
FAIL!, archive errors, or an extension problem
Recheck the model, AT&T CSC, binary revision, download integrity, extraction, and file placement. An OTA ZIP is not a full Odin package. Do not repeatedly retry random files.
SW REV CHECK FAIL
The phone usually has a newer bootloader than the package. Use firmware with an equal or newer binary revision; do not force a downgrade.
Boot loop after PASS
Allow extra time for the first boot, then enter stock recovery and wipe cache if that option is available. If the loop continues, a factory reset or a clean reflash with the correct CSC may be necessary, both of which can erase data.
“No command” or an Android warning screen
That screen can be part of stock recovery entry. Use the documented hardware-key sequence rather than treating it as a failed flash.

Stock firmware may help return modified system software to a normal state, but it does not necessarily reverse Knox status, remove every root-related change, or override carrier restrictions. Firmware flashing is not a legitimate way to bypass Factory Reset Protection (FRP) or a previous owner’s Google credentials. Avoid downloads advertised as FRP-bypass tools.
CRE4 was a 2018 Oreo release, not the latest software for the S7 family in 2026. It remains relevant for a matching AT&T device that specifically needs this historical build or a compatible restoration path.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I flash G930AUCU4CRE4 to an SM-G930U?
No. The package is for the AT&T SM-G930A model. A different model number requires its own firmware family.

No. SM-G930A and SM-G935A use different firmware identifiers and must be flashed separately.
Will Odin erase my data?
Using CSC generally triggers a clean reset. HOME_CSC is intended to attempt data preservation when supplied, but maintain a backup because preservation is not guaranteed.
Can CRE4 be installed over any Nougat build?
No. The original incremental OTA expected the corresponding G930AUCS4BRC1 or G935AUCS4BRC1 source build and matching signed package.
Is CRE4 the latest Android version for these phones?
No. It is a historical Android 8.0 Oreo release from 2018.
