HotHardware attributed its additional graphics-card passage to The Inquirer. That period report expected a mainstream R5xx card around the third quarter of 2005 as a possible successor to the X700PRO generation. It suggested PCIe and AGP versions, a price below $200, a 90-nanometre process, and Shader Model 3.0 support, while noting that specifications were limited.
