At an actually available price near $599, the Google Pixel 10 is a strong buy if you’re replacing a much older phone. Its clearest advantages are a dedicated 5x optical telephoto camera, built-in Qi2 magnetic charging, and Google’s seven-year update commitment. For Pixel 9 owners, the case is narrower: switch if those features solve a real need and the net cost after trade-in is attractive; otherwise, waiting makes sense.
The $599 figure was a temporary US Amazon price reported for the unlocked 128GB model before June 2026 Prime Day—not a guaranteed or current price. Amazon prices were later reported lower during the event. At the time of this article’s research, Google Store showed the Pixel 10 for $649, down from $799, in an October 6–11, 2026 promotion. Check the retailer, storage, stock, eligibility terms, and checkout price before treating any figure as an active deal.
Is the Pixel 10 a good deal at $599?
Yes, for many people upgrading from a substantially older phone. At that price, the Pixel 10’s 5x optical telephoto, magnetic Qi2 charging, and long update support make it a compelling discounted option. The answer is less straightforward if you already own a Pixel 9, whose screen size and many core characteristics are similar.

The price changed over the June 2026 Prime Day period. Android Central reported the unlocked 128GB Pixel 10 at $599 on Amazon on June 5, before the sale; its June 26 coverage listed it at $534. Those are dated sale reports, not a promise that either price remains available. Google Store later displayed $649 from $799 for a US promotion running October 6–11, 2026. Google’s offer terms say availability is limited and the offer generally cannot be combined with other promotional codes or bundle offers. What you get with the Pixel 10
The Pixel 10 is a 2025-generation phone. Google announced the lineup on August 20, 2025, with retail availability beginning August 28. Its core hardware combines a 6.3-inch display, Tensor G5 processor, 12GB of RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB of storage.
- Display: Google lists a 6.3-inch Actua OLED panel at 1080 × 2424 resolution, with a 60–120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits.
- Cameras: The rear system has a 48MP wide camera, 13MP ultrawide, and 10.8MP 5x optical telephoto. Google lists Super Res Zoom up to 20x.
- Charging: Pixelsnap provides Qi2-certified wireless charging up to 15W, with built-in magnets for compatible accessories. Google says a 30W USB-C PPS charger or higher can charge the phone to about 55% in roughly 30 minutes; the charger is sold separately.
- Battery: Google lists a 4,970mAh typical capacity and rates the phone for 24+ hours, or up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
Google’s Pixel 10 specifications provide the hardware figures. The launch announcement describes Pixelsnap and the update commitment; Google Pixel Product Manager Stephanie Scott wrote that the phone would remain fresh and secure with “seven years of Pixel Drops as well as OS and security updates.” This is Google’s stated support commitment, not a guarantee that every future feature will arrive on a particular date. Should you upgrade from Pixel 9 to Pixel 10?
The Pixel 10 adds meaningful options, but it is not a wholesale redesign. Tom’s Guide lists both phones with a 6.3-inch screen and a $799 starting launch price. The Pixel 10 moves from Tensor G4 to Tensor G5, adds a dedicated 5x telephoto lens, and has a larger stated typical battery capacity. The Pixel 9, however, has higher listed resolutions for its main and ultrawide cameras, so the change is not an across-the-board megapixel upgrade.

Upgrade if these Pixel 10 features matter to you
- You regularly want a dedicated 5x optical telephoto camera rather than relying on digital zoom.
- You will use the built-in magnetic Qi2 support with compatible accessories.
- Your current phone is old enough that newer hardware and Google’s stated support horizon justify the cost.
- Your trade-in makes the actual upgrade cost attractive.
Keep the Pixel 9 if the differences are marginal
If your Pixel 9 meets your needs, the similar screen size and the absence of a dramatic across-the-board camera resolution jump make waiting reasonable. Compare the net price after trade-in with the value you place on telephoto photography, magnetic charging, and the newer processor before deciding.

The Pixel 10 is no longer Google’s newest base Pixel as of October 2026; Google Store search results showed Pixel 11 offers alongside it. A discount alone does not establish value. Compare the Pixel 10’s checkout price and storage with current-generation alternatives, then weigh telephoto capability, Qi2 accessory compatibility, screen brightness, support horizon, and the trade-in-adjusted cost. Keep manufacturer battery estimates separate from third-party test results when comparing phones.
