ASUS’s Pro WS Platinum 3000W is a high-output power supply designed for demanding workstation builds, not a typical desktop upgrade. Announced in June 2025, the Pro WS series includes 3000W, 2200W and 1600W models, and ASUS says it can support up to four GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX PRO 6000 graphics cards. But a PSU rated for 3,000 watts is useful only if the computer’s components and the building’s electrical system can accommodate it.
What is ASUS’s 3,000W PSU?
The ASUS Pro WS Platinum 3000W is the highest-output model in ASUS’s Pro WS Platinum series. ASUS announced the series on June 18, 2025, positioning it for intensive 3D rendering and next-generation AI workloads. The lineup also includes 2200W and 1600W versions. ASUS’s announcement says the series can support up to four NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX PRO 6000 graphics cards.
The Pro WS units use ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 connectivity, including native 12V-2×6 connectors. These standards and connectors make the PSU relevant to newer high-power graphics-card builds, but they do not by themselves guarantee that a particular combination of cards, motherboard, cooling, and other components is compatible. Check the requirements of the specific hardware before choosing a PSU.

ASUS says the Pro WS series can support up to four GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX PRO 6000 graphics cards. That is a manufacturer-stated capability, not a guarantee that every four-card system will work in any workstation. The complete build must also provide suitable motherboard slots, physical clearance, cooling, power connections, and an electrical supply that meets the PSU’s specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- Converts current to the desired voltage and frequency to manage your power requirements
- Delivers 3.3 V DC to ensure that your device is always ready to use
For a planned four-GPU workstation, confirm the requirements of each card and the system configuration with the relevant manufacturers or system builder. Do not treat the PSU’s 3000W rating alone as proof that a particular build is safe or compatible.
Will a 3,000W PSU need a special circuit?
Possibly, depending on the PSU’s input-voltage compatibility and the building’s electrical installation. ASUS warns that the electrical system’s wattage must meet the product specifications to avoid overload or power trips. The required circuit cannot be determined from the PSU’s wattage alone: it depends on the installation region and local electrical conditions. Check ASUS’s product specifications and ask a qualified local electrician to assess the intended setup.

- Supports ATX 3.1 and PCIe Gen 5 standards, Supports RTX 40/50 series GPUs and future NVIDIA graphics cards
- Supports NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40/50 Series and RTX PRO Blackwell Workstation GPUs with 4x Native 12V-2x6 Power Connector
- 80PLUS Platinum certified, 24/7 continuous power output at 50℃ operating temperature
- Fully modular design with SilverStone's 3rd generation modular interface
- Silent 140mm dual ball bearing fan with 3-phase 12-pole motor and copper rivet reinforcement for high precision and efficiency
Do not assume that a standard outlet or circuit can deliver the power a 3,000W unit may draw. Confirm the supply voltage and circuit capacity before installing or operating a system built around it.
Pro WS 3000W versus ROG Thor 3000W Edition 20
ASUS’s Pro WS Platinum 3000W is an announced professional-workstation PSU. A newer product direction was reported at Computex 2026: the ROG Thor 3000W Titanium III Edition 20. TechRadar described the ROG model as providing 3000W at 230V and 1600W at 115V, with support for up to four RTX 5090 cards. That voltage-dependent output is an important distinction; the two products should not be treated as interchangeable simply because both carry a 3000W name.
