The 2026 Asus Zenbook 14 UX3480 is a light 14-inch OLED laptop with a premium-feeling design, useful built-in ports and enough speed for everyday productivity. At its $799 U.S. starting price, however, the entry configuration’s 8GB of memory and 256GB SSD are meaningful limits. The $799 price is a starting point, not necessarily the price of a reviewed or better-equipped configuration.

Which Zenbook 14 is this?

This review concerns Asus’s 2026 Snapdragon Zenbook 14 UX3480 family—not an older Intel- or AMD-based Zenbook 14 OLED. Asus announced the U.S. product line on June 2, 2026, with a starting price of $799. That figure identifies the entry point; it does not establish the price of every configuration. Asus’s product announcement describes the family, while individual retailer listings should be checked for the exact SKU and price.

Configuration details differ among the available reports. Windows Central identifies the $799 entry configuration as having 8GB of onboard RAM and a 256GB SSD. PCWorld’s reviewed machine had 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, and PCWorld said a larger SSD option was not available at its review time. Asus’s product information lists configurations up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. These are not interchangeable descriptions: check the specific listing rather than assuming the review unit is the $799 model.

Is the $799 Zenbook 14 worth buying?

It can be a good fit if you want a portable Windows laptop for documents, browsing, video calls and streaming, and value an OLED screen and a polished, lightweight chassis. Reviewers found everyday productivity performance adequate and praised the design and display. The laptop is not established as a strong choice for demanding gaming or professional video and graphics work; its integrated Adreno graphics and product positioning point to general productivity rather than those workloads.

  • Windows 11 Home, Backlit Keyboard, Smart Amp, Wi-Fi 7, FHD IR Privacy Camera, Auth USB-C Hub

The trade-off is clearest at the entry price. Eight gigabytes of memory can constrain heavier multitasking, while a 256GB drive leaves less room for large applications and files. Windows Central considered the entry memory usable for light productivity but limited for 2026. A higher-memory or larger-storage configuration may cost more, and the reviewed 16GB PCWorld configuration still had a 256GB SSD.

What are the screen and build like?

The UX3480 is a 14-inch, 1920×1200 OLED laptop. OLED’s contrast and color are strong points at this price, and Asus claims 100% DCI-P3 color coverage for the product family. The display is 60Hz in Windows Central’s tested specification. PCWorld described its screen as glossy and around 300 cd/m² typical brightness, so reflections and bright environments may be more challenging than the rich colors suggest.

Asus lists a starting weight of 1.1kg, and Notebookcheck also reports 1.1kg for its unit. That light chassis helps make the laptop easy to carry. Notebookcheck reports a backlit keyboard with 1.7mm of key travel. Windows Central, however, criticizes the trackpad’s accuracy and actuation, and reports fan noise under load. Those input and noise trade-offs matter if you spend long stretches typing, navigating with the touchpad or running heavier tasks.

How long does the battery last?

There is no single comparable runtime established here for every UX3480 configuration. Asus’s June 2026 product announcement claims “Up to 21+ hours of video playback.” Treat that as a manufacturer maximum, not a promise of typical mixed-use battery life. PCWorld characterized its review unit’s battery life as modest and noted its 50Wh capacity; it did not establish that Asus’s advertised maximum represents ordinary work use.

Notebookcheck’s measurements require an additional qualification: its 512GB test configuration showed an SSD-related power issue that increased power use by around 3W. For power and battery measurements, Notebookcheck substituted a Samsung 990 Pro SSD for the original drive. The outlet said Asus was aware of the issue and working on a fix at the time of its September 2026 review, but that dated note does not establish whether the issue persists or has since been resolved. Different SSDs and test methods make a single runtime comparison misleading.

Does it have enough ports?

For a thin 14-inch laptop, the built-in selection is practical: the reviewed Snapdragon model has two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, HDMI and a headphone jack. PCWorld reports USB-C 4 with DisplayPort support. Notebookcheck and PCWorld report Wi-Fi 6E; this is not a Wi-Fi 7 model according to the cited specifications. Notebookcheck also reports a 1080p webcam.

That mix supports common peripherals and an external display without making an adapter essential for every connection. Asus describes full I/O for the family, but port details should still be verified against the exact regional SKU.

How does it compare with nearby alternatives?

The most useful comparisons in the available coverage are Asus’s more expensive Zenbook A14 and Apple’s $799 MacBook Neo. They help frame trade-offs, but the reported material does not establish a full, controlled head-to-head benchmark or a universal winner.

  • Against the Zenbook A14: PCWorld contrasts the Zenbook 14’s roughly 300 cd/m² screen brightness and 50Wh battery with the A14’s reported 400 cd/m² screen and 70Wh battery. These are review-specific comparisons, not a guarantee of identical results across all configurations.
  • Against the MacBook Neo: Windows Central frames the Zenbook 14 against a $799 MacBook Neo. Choose based on the operating system, the exact memory and storage configuration, and whether Windows compatibility or Apple’s ecosystem matters more to you; the available evidence does not justify declaring one better for every buyer.

What to check before buying

  1. Confirm the SKU and price. Verify that the listing is the UX3480 Snapdragon model and that its price is for the configuration shown—not simply the family’s $799 starting price.
  2. Check RAM and storage. Distinguish the 8GB/256GB entry specification from the 16GB/256GB configuration PCWorld reviewed. Asus lists family configurations up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
  3. Verify display features. Check whether the specific unit is touch-enabled and confirm its resolution, refresh rate and finish. Do not assume optional features are included.
  4. Match it to your workload. It suits ordinary productivity and media use better than demanding gaming or professional creative workloads. Consider whether 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be enough for your applications and files.
