The 2026 ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3480QA is a good portable laptop for everyday work, with a vivid OLED display and a useful range of ports. Its value is less convincing in the 8GB base configuration, and the Zenbook A14 is a serious alternative: reviewers found it lighter and longer-lasting, with stronger value at some cited prices. If you choose the Zenbook 14, the 16GB model is the safer pick; compare the exact model and current price with the A14 before buying.

What this review verdict covers

This verdict is about the 2026 ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3480QA with Snapdragon X. ASUS announced US availability for this model. It is not the same configuration as the separately announced UX3480AA with Intel Core Ultra 9 386H, which ASUS said was expected in early Q4 2026. Specifications and availability can also vary by region, so check the full model number and retailer listing.

ASUS announced a starting price of $799.99 and 8GB and 16GB memory options for the US model. Notebookcheck reported review pricing of $799 for an 8GB/256GB configuration and $999 for a 16GB/512GB configuration on September 23, 2026. Those are review-era prices, not a guarantee of current pricing or stock. ASUS’s US announcement and the retailer’s exact SKU are the best checks before purchase.

Which Zenbook 14 configuration should you buy?

Choose the 16GB model if your budget allows. Notebookcheck reviewed a 16GB/512GB unit and recommended opting for 16GB where possible; ASUS’s availability page also lists an 8GB option. The base model’s $799 review-era price is appealing, but 8GB is a meaningful compromise for a laptop expected to handle many browser tabs and several apps at once. Consider the 8GB model only if your use is light and its savings over the 16GB version are substantial.

Storage differs alongside memory in the configurations Notebookcheck priced: 256GB on the base model and 512GB on the reviewed unit. Check both figures in the retailer listing rather than relying on the product name alone. Notebookcheck’s review identifies the configurations and its recommendation.

How good is the OLED screen?

Notebookcheck praised the tested OLED for deep blacks, rich and accurate colors, and fast response. It also reported a 60Hz refresh rate, 300-nit brightness, and no HDR support on its tested panel. That makes the screen attractive for everyday viewing, but less compelling if you need HDR or work often in bright surroundings, where a dimmer panel can be harder to see. The reported figures apply to Notebookcheck’s reviewed unit; verify the panel specification for the exact SKU you are considering.

How well does it handle everyday work?

Notebookcheck found Snapdragon X performance sufficient for everyday use. TechRadar reported strong basic productivity, multi-tab browsing, and 4K streaming, but weak results in its Cyberpunk 2077 light-gaming test. Taken together, the reviews point to a laptop for office work, browsing, video, and general personal use—not a gaming machine or a reason to buy without checking support for any specialized apps you rely on.

For context, Notebookcheck judged the Zenbook 14’s everyday CPU performance roughly on par with the Wildcat Lake CPU in the Dell XPS 13. In its comparison, Apple’s A18 Pro had higher single-core but lower multi-core performance. These are reviewer comparisons, not a claim that every configuration or workload will perform identically.

What does the battery life mean in practice?

TechRadar measured 12 hours 15 minutes for the Zenbook 14 in a continuous movie-loop test. In that same test, the Zenbook A14 lasted more than 28 hours and the HP OmniBook 7 reached 26 hours. These are results from one review’s stated test method, not promised runtimes for mixed everyday use.

ASUS separately claims up to 18 hours of web browsing for the Zenbook 14 and says battery life varies with use and settings. That manufacturer figure uses a different usage description from TechRadar’s movie-loop test, so the two numbers should not be treated as directly comparable. ASUS also lists the laptop at 2.87lb. ASUS’s announcement provides those manufacturer claims.

Is the Zenbook A14 better than the Zenbook 14?

It may be the stronger buy if portability and battery endurance matter more than choosing the newer Zenbook 14. TechRadar lists the A14 at 0.98kg versus 1.10kg for the Zenbook 14, and its A14 lasted more than twice as long in the review’s movie-loop comparison. Notebookcheck also reported an A14 with 16GB/512GB and a brighter HDR OLED listed at $870 on Amazon at the time of its review, and judged it better value then. That is a time-specific listing, not a current price.

Be careful to compare model years. The A14 assessed in those reviews is not necessarily the newer 2026 generation ASUS announced with Snapdragon X2 Elite. Match the generation, memory, storage, screen, and current price before using an old review or listing to make a buying decision. TechRadar’s review contains its battery and weight comparison; ASUS’s announcement describes the newer generation.

How to choose between them

  1. Match the exact model and configuration. Confirm the full UX3480QA model number, processor, RAM, storage, and regional SKU. Do not substitute the Intel UX3480AA or a different A14 generation in a comparison.
  2. Compare live prices. The published $799.99 starting price and review-era prices may no longer reflect available stock. Compare the 16GB/512GB Zenbook 14 against an A14 with comparable memory and storage.
  3. Prioritize the display you need. The tested Zenbook 14 panel was 300 nits, 60Hz, and lacked HDR. If brightness or HDR matters, check the A14’s exact panel and the listing’s specification rather than assuming all units match.
  4. Choose by workload. For everyday productivity, browsing, and streaming, the Zenbook 14 is a reasonable fit. For gaming or demanding specialist work, the cited reviews do not establish it as a suitable performance choice.
  5. Weigh portability and endurance against price. TechRadar’s A14 results favor it on weight and movie-loop battery life. Decide whether those advantages justify any price difference for your own use.

Verdict: a capable laptop, but not the automatic value pick

The ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3480QA earns consideration for everyday computing, its OLED screen, and broad port selection. Its strongest case is the 16GB configuration at a competitive live price. The 8GB base model is harder to recommend if the price gap to 16GB is small, while the Zenbook A14 deserves a close look for buyers who prioritize lighter weight and longer battery life.
