ASUS has warned that rising memory costs and tight component supply are putting pressure on PC pricing, but the available statements do not establish a fixed increase for every ASUS computer. The warning reflects volatile DRAM and storage costs, demand from AI servers, and limits on supply growth—not a confirmed across-the-board price rise or a verified increase for a particular model.
What ASUS said about PC prices
HotHardware reported on November 13, 2025, that ASUS co-CEO Shubin Hu connected rising DRAM prices across the PC industry to AI-server demand for memory and limited growth in DRAM production. The report described remarks made at an investor conference; it is secondary reporting, not an ASUS price announcement. Read HotHardware’s report.
In its Q1 2026 earnings call, ASUS management also described sharp volatility in memory and storage costs, tight memory and CPU supply, and coordination with suppliers. The transcript is hosted by Alpha Spread rather than ASUS’s investor-relations site. Read the hosted Q1 2026 earnings-call transcript.

ASUS management said memory prices had surged nearly 100% in Q1 2026. That is the company’s statement as recorded in the call transcript; it is not a documented retail-price increase for ASUS PCs. The transcript does not define a component price series or establish that every memory type, supplier, or product configuration experienced the same change.

Management also forecast a 10% to 15% decline in global PC shipments for 2026. This is ASUS’s outlook, not a final measurement of shipments. Neither figure translates directly into a percentage change in the price of a finished computer.
How ASUS said it was managing tight supply
According to the call transcript, ASUS was working closely with upstream memory and CPU vendors. Executive Nick Wu said, “despite the existing shortages, they’re not severely impacting our operations.” He also described supplier memoranda of understanding, existing inventory, and internal stockpiling rules. Management said supply partners could provide volumes roughly flat versus 2025; these are company statements, not independently verified supply-chain figures.

The transcript says ASUS gave higher-end products greater priority while seeking to retain mid- and lower-end offerings. Wu put it this way: “we will not be abandoning the mid- to low end completely.” That describes the company’s stated allocation approach, not a guarantee that every product tier or model will have the same availability.
Was there a confirmed ASUS price increase in January 2026?
SmBom reported on December 31, 2025, that ASUS had notified customers of price adjustments for selected products starting January 5, 2026. The report does not establish a universal percentage increase, a geography, or a company-wide policy. It is a secondary report rather than a confirmed ASUS release. Read SmBom’s report.

Do not assume a computer costs more simply because it is an ASUS model, or that a named product has a known shortage-related markup. HotHardware mentioned the ASUS TUF Gaming T500 as an example in its shortage coverage, but the available information does not verify a model-specific price increase, current inventory, or a particular configuration.

Compare the exact configuration and current retailer listing rather than relying on a general warning. Check:
- Current price: compare the same model and configuration across retailers, and check whether a listing is discounted or has changed.
- Included memory: note the RAM capacity and type so you are comparing like with like.
- Storage: compare SSD capacity as well as price.
- Upgrade options: check whether memory or storage can be upgraded, and whether that changes the value of a lower-priced configuration.
- Product tier and availability: ASUS said it prioritized higher-end products while aiming to keep mid- and lower-end choices. That does not determine the stock or price of an individual listing.
The evidence supports watching for configuration-specific price and availability changes. It does not support predicting a fixed ASUS PC price increase from the component-cost statements alone.
