The ASUS Vivobook 14 featured in this deal roundup was advertised for $299.99—but that price was reported on July 24, 2025, and is not a current offer. The 14-inch model pairs a Core i5-1334U with 12GB of memory, but its 256GB SSD is a notable storage trade-off. The other prices below are historical, too; check retailer listings for today’s price and availability before buying.
What was the $299 ASUS Vivobook 14 deal?
HotHardware reported on July 24, 2025, that Best Buy was selling ASUS Vivobook 14 model X1404VA-I512256 for $299.99, with a stated $300 saving. The dated Slickdeals record identifies the same model and price and marks the deal expired. Neither source establishes that the offer is still available.
Best Buy’s listing identifies the product as the Vivobook 14 with a 14-inch Full HD display, Intel Core i5, 12GB memory and 256GB SSD. The HotHardware article specifies the processor and additional display and storage details:
Recommended Free Tools
- Display: 14 inches, 1920 × 1080.
- Processor: Intel Core i5-1334U, with 10 cores, 12 threads and a maximum frequency of 4.6 GHz.
- Memory: 12GB DDR4.
- Storage: 256GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
The configuration’s appeal was a relatively capable processor and 12GB of memory at a low advertised price. The compromise is storage: 256GB can fill quickly with large applications, games, photos or video. Some of the other configurations in the roundup had 512GB drives. The listing and deal article give specifications, not hands-on performance test results.

What replaced the sold-out Acer deal in the article?
After reporting the Acer Nitro 5 deal sold out, HotHardware pointed readers to an open-box Lenovo LOQ at Best Buy. Its reported configuration was a Ryzen 5 7235HS, RTX 3050, 12GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. The article listed $474.99 for “excellent” condition and $454.99 for “good” condition. Those were historical open-box prices, not a current stock check; condition grades also matter when comparing an open-box laptop with a new one.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteHow should you compare these configurations?
- For general use: Compare processor, memory and storage capacity alongside the display. The Vivobook’s 12GB RAM and Core i5 are balanced against its 256GB SSD; the HP 15.6-inch model was listed with 16GB RAM but the same storage capacity.
- For games or graphics-heavy tasks: The Nitro 5 and LOQ stand apart from the general-purpose models because they include an RTX 3050 discrete GPU. The Nitro also had a reported 144Hz screen. These specifications distinguish the gaming-oriented options, but the article does not provide benchmark results or establish how any laptop performs in particular games.
- For more built-in storage: Look at the listed 512GB configurations, including the Acer Nitro 5, HP OmniBook X Flip and ASUS Vivobook 17. The IdeaPad Slim 3i’s 128GB UFS storage is the smallest listed capacity.
- For a larger screen: The Acer was listed with a 17.3-inch display and the Vivobook 17 with a 17-inch model name; the HP touch model was 15.6 inches. The listed specifications do not establish resolution for every alternative, so compare the retailer’s exact listing before deciding.
- For lower purchase risk: Verify whether a listing is new or open-box, inspect its stated condition, and check the return policy. The LOQ prices were specifically tied to open-box condition.
Are the $299 ASUS price or other deals still available?
The evidence here documents a July 2025 roundup, not current offers. In particular, Slickdeals marks the Vivobook deal expired, and HotHardware said the Acer Nitro 5 offer sold out. No current price or inventory is established for the other listed laptops. Check the retailer’s live listing for the exact model and condition before treating any historical price as a buying option.
