ASUS announced its TUF Gaming Series Five monitor family on June 2, 2025, with more than 20 models spanning 23.8 to 34 inches and FHD, QHD and WQHD resolutions. The range includes a 27-inch QHD model rated for up to 300Hz, a 34-inch ultrawide rated for up to 250Hz overclocked, and features ASUS groups under speed, smooth gameplay, vivid colors, Gaming AI and DisplayWidget Center.
What is the ASUS TUF Gaming Series Five?
Series Five is a family of ASUS TUF gaming monitors, not a single display. ASUS announced the range on June 2, 2025, describing more than 20 models in sizes from 23.8 to 34 inches and with FHD, QHD or WQHD resolutions. The manufacturer’s announcement is available in the ASUS Pressroom.
ASUS organizes the range around five themes: speed, smooth gameplay, vivid colors, Gaming AI and control through DisplayWidget Center. Those themes cover a mix of panel specifications, synchronization and blur-reduction features, on-screen assistance and software controls; the exact combination varies by model.
Which Series Five models stand out?
| Model | Size and panel | Resolution | Refresh rate and response time | Other listed features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VG27AQML5A | 27-inch Fast IPS | QHD | Up to 300Hz; 0.3ms minimum response time | AMD FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, ASUS ELMB Sync, 95% DCI-P3, Gaming AI and DisplayWidget Center |
| VG34WQML5A | 34-inch ultrawide VA | QHD | Up to 250Hz overclocked; 0.5ms minimum response time | AMD FreeSync Premium, ASUS ELMB Sync, DisplayHDR 400, 95% DCI-P3, Gaming AI and DisplayWidget Center |
| VG279Q5A | 27-inch Fast IPS | Full HD | 200Hz; 0.3ms minimum response time | G-SYNC compatible, AMD FreeSync Premium, ELMB Sync, 99% sRGB and DisplayWidget Center |
These figures are ASUS specifications, not independent lab measurements. In particular, the listed response times should be treated as manufacturer-rated minimums rather than a guarantee of typical performance in every operating mode. ASUS’s June 2, 2025 Global news release describes the family’s features.

Which ASUS TUF Series Five monitor is best for 1440p gaming?
Of the models detailed here, the VG27AQML5A is the clearest fit for someone seeking 1440p-class QHD gaming in a conventional 27-inch format. ASUS lists a maximum 300Hz refresh rate, a 0.3ms minimum response time and both AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility. That specification mix makes it the family’s competitive-focused option, particularly for players with a system capable of driving high frame rates at QHD.
The 34-inch VG34WQML5A also offers QHD, but in an ultrawide VA panel with an overclocked maximum of 250Hz. It may suit players who value a wider view and immersion more than the compact footprint and highest listed refresh rate of the 27-inch model.
Rank #2
- High-Resolution QHD Gaming Display: 27-inch QHD (2560x1440) gaming monitor with 300Hz refresh rate designed for professional gamers and immersive gameplay
- Fast IPS Technology with Rapid Response Time: ASUS Fast IPS technology enables a 0.3ms (GTG) response time(min.) for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates
- Advanced Motion Blur Reduction: ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) technology enables ELMB and variable-refresh-rate technologies to work simultaneously to eliminate ghosting and tearing for sharp gaming visuals
- Convenient Settings Management: DisplayWidget Center enables easy monitor settings adjustments with a mouse
- Enhanced Dark Scene Visibility: Shadow Boost enhances image details in dark areas, brightening scenes without over-exposing bright areas
Is the VG27AQML5A worth considering for competitive gaming?
Its published specifications make it a strong candidate on paper: QHD resolution, up to 300Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and ASUS ELMB Sync. A high refresh ceiling can make sense for fast shooters and esports when the graphics card can sustain similarly high frame rates. The stated 0.3ms is ASUS’s minimum response-time specification, however, not an independently measured result; it should not be used alone to predict motion clarity or input feel.

Before choosing it, check that your computer can produce the frame rates you want at QHD and confirm the supported refresh modes and connection requirements in the monitor’s specification sheet for your market. The available announcement information does not establish independent performance results or a universal price.

What is the difference between the 27-inch and 34-inch models?
The main trade-off is format and emphasis. The VG27AQML5A uses a 27-inch QHD Fast IPS panel and has the family’s stated 300Hz maximum among these examples. The VG34WQML5A is a 34-inch ultrawide QHD VA display with a 250Hz overclocked maximum, DisplayHDR 400 and the same stated 95% DCI-P3 gamut coverage. The larger ultrawide format favors a broader, more immersive desktop and game view; the smaller model is the more direct choice for high-refresh competitive play.
Panel type, aspect ratio and resolution affect the experience as much as the headline refresh rate. Compare the physical width of an ultrawide with your desk and seating distance, and verify that the games and computer you use support the display format and desired resolution.
Rank #4
- 27-inch Full HD (1920x1080) 1500R curved gaming monitor with ultrafast 165Hz refresh rate designed for professional gamers and immersive gameplay
- ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB ) technology enables a 1ms response time (MPRT) together with Adaptive-sync, eliminating ghosting and tearing for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates.
- FreeSync Premium technology to eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
- Shadow Boost enhances image details in dark areas, brightening scenes without over-exposing bright areas
- Flexible connectivity options with HDMI (V2.0) and D-Sub
Does the ASUS TUF Series Five support G-SYNC and FreeSync?
Support depends on the model. ASUS lists AMD FreeSync Premium for the VG27AQML5A and VG34WQML5A, and says the VG27AQML5A is NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible. The documented VG279Q5A example is also listed as G-SYNC compatible and supports AMD FreeSync Premium. These are adaptive-sync features intended to reduce visible tearing when display refresh and rendered frame rate vary; check each exact model’s regional specifications rather than assuming every Series Five monitor has identical support.

Gaming AI and DisplayWidget Center are part of ASUS’s control-and-convenience pitch, but the available model details do not enumerate every AI feature or software control for every display. ASUS specifically describes Dynamic Crosshair as automatically changing crosshair color to contrast with the background, intended to make aiming more accurate. Treat that as a listed monitor feature, not a guarantee of better gameplay.

- DisplayWidget Center enables easy monitor settings adjustments with a mouse
- Shadow Boost enhances image details in dark areas, brightening scenes without over-exposing bright areas
- What’s in the box: HDMI cable, Power cord, Quick start guide, Warranty Card
DisplayWidget Center provides a software-based control option, while Gaming AI refers to monitor gaming assistance. Their exact functions and availability should be checked against the selected model’s product page and software support for your operating system.
How should you compare models in the range?
- For esports and fast shooters: Compare maximum refresh rate and response-time claims, then consider whether your PC can deliver high frame rates at the panel’s native resolution.
- For clarity and immersion: Weigh resolution, screen size and aspect ratio together. A 34-inch ultrawide is a different fit from a 27-inch QHD screen even when both are labeled QHD.
- For richer image reproduction: Check the stated color gamut and HDR capability. A gamut percentage and an HDR certification describe different aspects of image reproduction.
- For smoother variable frame rates: Confirm the exact model’s Adaptive Sync, FreeSync or G-SYNC compatibility rather than relying on family-level branding.
- For daily adjustment: Check which Gaming AI options and DisplayWidget Center controls the specific model supports.
ASUS also says newer TUF Gaming Series 5 displays are compatible with its TUF Gaming Monitor Arm AAS02. Compatibility does not establish local stock or retailer terms, so verify those separately if the arm matters to your setup.
