ASUS’s reported GPU prices were well above launch baselines in March 2025: TechSpot reported a ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC at $3,359, versus NVIDIA’s $1,999 RTX 5090 launch price, while ASUS RX 9070 examples were also listed above AMD’s reported launch prices. Those are dated US store observations, not current quotes. A later ASUS ROG US listing showed the Astral RTX 5090 OC at $4,829.99, but that single listing is not a market-wide price.

How much did ASUS raise RTX 5090 prices?

In a March 17, 2025 report, TechSpot said ASUS raised the US listing for its ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC from $3,079 to $3,359—a $280 increase. NVIDIA’s announced launch price for the desktop RTX 5090 was $1,999, so the reported Astral listing was $1,360 above that baseline. TechSpot also said the Astral OC had been expected to cost $2,800; that expectation is distinct from NVIDIA’s announced GPU launch price.

The $1,999 figure was NVIDIA’s launch-price baseline, not a promise that every board-partner card would sell for that amount. NVIDIA announced the RTX 5090 would be available January 30, 2025, at $1,999 and named ASUS among the add-in-card providers in its GeForce RTX 50 Series launch announcement.

Other ASUS RTX 5090 listings in the March 2025 report

TechSpot also reported the following ASUS US listings on March 17, 2025. The comparison is against NVIDIA’s $1,999 RTX 5090 launch price, not a separate MSRP for each ASUS model.

ASUS model Reported US price, March 17, 2025 Difference from $1,999 launch price
ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC $3,359 $1,360 above
TUF RTX 5090 OC $3,000 $1,001 above
TUF RTX 5090 non-OC $2,759 $760 above

TechSpot attributed a $250 increase to the TUF listings, without specifying separate before-and-after amounts for each TUF variant. HotHardware independently reported a March 17, 2025 ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC price of $3,359.99, a liquid-cooled ROG Astral variant at $3,409.99, and a TUF model at $2,999. Its report noted sold-out or notify-me messages alongside high prices. These contemporary reports corroborate the general picture, but are not a separate ASUS price feed.

Were ASUS RX 9070 cards above MSRP?

Yes, according to March 17, 2025 coverage of ASUS US listings. TechSpot compared ASUS examples with reported AMD launch prices of $549 for the RX 9070 and $599 for the RX 9070 XT. Its figures were:

ASUS model Reported US price, March 17, 2025 Comparison with reported launch price
Prime RX 9070 $659 $110 above $549
TUF RX 9070 OC $710 $161 above $549
Prime RX 9070 XT OC $719 $120 above $599
TUF RX 9070 XT OC $800 $201 above $599

PCWorld reported March 17, 2025 prices of $660 for the ASUS Prime RX 9070 and $720 for the Prime RX 9070 XT, against launch prices of $550 and $600. It characterized those model-specific differences as 20 percent. HotHardware reported the ASUS Prime RX 9070 at $659.99 against a $549 starting MSRP. The small price variations reflect what different outlets reported; they should not be collapsed into one supposedly exact listing price.

Are those ASUS GPU prices still current?

No March 2025 figure should be treated as a current quote. An ASUS ROG US product listing checked October 4, 2026 showed the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition at $4,829.99. That is a later listing for one specific variant, not a market average or a price for every RTX 5090 model, retailer, or seller; ASUS listings can change.

A current official US ASUS price or stock status for the RX 9070 family is not established here. Check the exact model and seller before making a purchase decision rather than carrying forward its historical March 2025 listing. The available figures also do not support a current performance-per-dollar comparison or a present-day ranking of RX 9070 prices.

What explains the gap from MSRP?

The reports establish that ASUS listings were above the relevant launch-price baselines; they do not establish one definitive cause for the gap. The RTX 5090’s $1,999 figure was NVIDIA’s announced launch price for the GPU, whereas ASUS listings were for specific board-partner models, including factory-overclocked variants. The prices alone do not show how much of the difference came from product features, supply, retail conditions, or other factors.

Model distinctions matter: an OC version is not the same product listing as its non-OC counterpart, and the ROG Astral liquid-cooled version is distinct from the air-cooled OC model. None of those distinctions makes an old listing a reliable guide to a card’s price or availability today.
