ASUS’s RTX 5080 Noctua Edition pairs an RTX 5080 with three 120 mm Noctua fans and a substantial four-slot cooler. The exact model is RTX5080-O16G-NOCTUA. ASUS announced it on August 8, 2025; its standout appeal is a cooling design built around low noise, while its 385 mm length and 80 mm thickness make case fit a serious consideration.

What is the ASUS RTX 5080 Noctua Edition?

It is ASUS’s GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card with 16GB of GDDR7 memory and a custom Noctua-inspired cooling system. ASUS lists a default boost clock of 2700 MHz and an OC mode clock of 2730 MHz. The OC mode is a listed operating mode, not a guarantee that every card will sustain that frequency in every system.

ASUS announced the card on August 8, 2025. The announcement describes it as the quietest air-cooled ASUS card in its class; that is ASUS’s claim, rather than an independently established ranking. ASUS’s announcement and its UK specification page identify the product and its listed specifications.

What makes its cooler different?

The cooler uses three 120 mm Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 fans over a large custom heatsink. Noctua specifies a vapor chamber and eleven heat pipes: seven 8 mm pipes and four 6 mm pipes. ASUS also highlights an optimized fin array, a phase-change thermal pad, and 0dB fan stop, which allows the fans to stop under suitable low-load conditions.

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition Graphics Card
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
  • Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
  • Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
  • 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans

The fans use an A-B-A arrangement. Noctua says the two fan variants are offset by about 50 rpm—one slower and one faster—to limit acoustic interactions. A physical Dual BIOS switch offers Quiet and Performance modes, giving users a choice of fan behavior rather than requiring software alone to select a profile. Noctua’s technical analysis describes the cooler layout and fan arrangement.

How quiet is the ASUS RTX 5080 Noctua Edition?

Noctua reports 21.4 dB(A) for the Noctua Edition with automatic fan settings in its own comparative test. In that test, it measured the card as 14.5 dB(A) quieter than the ROG Astral RTX 5080 and reported GPU core temperatures up to 6°C lower than the tested ASUS TUF Gaming and ROG Astral counterparts.

Noctua says it used a 360W power target and FurMark thermal stress tests at 4K. In a separate test with all three cards forced to 500 RPM, Noctua reported that all measured below 10 dB(A); the Noctua Edition kept VRAM more than 10°C cooler and the GPU 13°C below the GPUs’ thermal limit. These are manufacturer-published internal results, not independent lab findings. They describe those test conditions, and do not establish noise or temperature results across games, other workloads, or different systems.

ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing. OC mode: 2685 MHz/ Default mode: 2655 MHz (Boost Clock)
  • SFF-Ready enthusiast GeForce card compatible with small-form-factor builds
  • Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • Vapor chamber ensures efficient heat transfer for lower GPU temps
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability

In practical terms, the design and the vendor’s testing make low-noise operation its central selling point. Actual noise and temperatures depend on workload, case airflow, ambient conditions, fan profile, and the rest of the system.

How big is the RTX 5080 Noctua Edition?

ASUS lists dimensions of 385 × 151 × 80 mm (15.16 × 5.94 × 3.15 inches) and a thickness of four slots. It is a large card, so check the available space before buying rather than relying only on a case’s stated graphics-card maximum length.

  • Check your case’s GPU clearance and whether nearby front fans, radiators, or drive cages reduce usable length.
  • Confirm there is room for a four-slot card and that it will not obstruct other expansion cards or connectors.
  • Allow space to route and connect its 16-pin power cable without forcing a tight bend against the side panel.

These dimensions come from ASUS’s UK specification page; ASUS cautions that specifications may change and products may not be available in every market.

ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
  • Quad-fan design boosts air flow and pressure by up to 20%. Compatibility: 357mm (14.1") length, 3.8 slots, 6.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
  • Patented vapor chamber with milled heatspreader for lower GPU temperatures OC mode: 2790 MHz/ Default mode: 2760 MHz (Boost Clock)
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad ensures optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
  • 3.8-slot design: massive heatsink and fin array optimized for airflow from the four Axial-tech fans

What power supply does it need?

ASUS recommends an 850W power supply and lists one 16-pin power connector. ASUS states that its wattage recommendation assumes a fully overclocked GPU and CPU system configuration. It is a recommendation for that system scenario, not proof that every owner must replace a working PSU.

Before changing a power supply, check its capacity, condition, available compatible cabling, and the demands of the complete PC—including the CPU and other components. Follow the graphics-card and PSU manufacturers’ cable guidance; do not force a connector or use an unsuitable adapter.

Is it quieter than the ASUS TUF or ROG Astral?

In Noctua’s reported 360W FurMark test at 4K with automatic fan settings, the Noctua Edition measured 14.5 dB(A) quieter than the ROG Astral and had GPU core temperatures up to 6°C lower than the tested TUF Gaming and ROG Astral cards. Under the separate forced-500-RPM test, Noctua reported all three below 10 dB(A), with the Noctua model maintaining the cooler VRAM and GPU results described above.
