The ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo (2026), model family GX651, pairs two 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreens with a detachable keyboard and high-end gaming hardware. It is an unusually flexible setup, but the official US starting price was $4,499.99 on October 7, 2026—and the headline-grabbing performance figures come from a more expensive RTX 5090 review configuration. The laptop makes sense if you will use the second screen regularly; otherwise, its price and practical compromises are hard to justify.
What makes the Zephyrus Duo different
The GX651 is a gaming laptop built around two 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreens. A magnetic detachable keyboard sits over the lower display when you want a conventional laptop layout. ASUS says the keyboard charges while attached and lists five modes: dual-screen, laptop, sharing, book, and tent. TechRadar reports that the keyboard can also connect over Bluetooth when detached.
The second screen is the point of the design, not a bonus every buyer will automatically benefit from. During a game, it can hold chat, a guide, or monitoring tools while the main screen stays focused on play. For creative work or general multitasking, it provides another large touch display. If your usual workload fits comfortably on one screen, the extra panel adds cost and complexity without necessarily improving it.

ASUS’s US product page listed the GX651 from $4,499.99 when checked on October 7, 2026. That is a US starting list price, not a worldwide price or a promise that a particular configuration is in stock. Check the exact specification and current offer before buying: the available GPU, memory, and storage vary by configuration.

The distinction matters when reading performance coverage. TechRadar tested a unit with an Intel Core Ultra 9, RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, and 64GB of RAM. Engadget describes a US base configuration at roughly $4,500 with a Core Ultra 9 386H, RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, with an RTX 5090 available as an upgrade. Results from TechRadar’s higher-spec review unit should not be treated as guaranteed performance for every GX651.
How fast is it in games?
TechRadar’s 2026 tests show strong results, but each figure depends on the game settings and rendering options. In Cyberpunk 2077, its review unit reached 94 fps at maximum resolution with Ultra settings and DLSS Balanced. At 1600p with Ultra ray tracing and DLSS Balanced, it recorded 66 fps. With the particularly demanding Ray Tracing: Overdrive preset at 2880 × 1800 and DLSS Balanced, the review reported 30 fps; enabling Frame Generation raised that to 50–60 fps. These are different test conditions, not interchangeable estimates of one typical frame rate.

For additional context, TechRadar reported 34,724 in 3DMark Fire Strike and 17,119 in Geekbench 6.5 multicore on its review configuration. Those benchmark scores describe that tested machine and workload; they do not predict identical results from lower-tier GX651 configurations.

Displays and build
TechRadar praised the OLED screens for vivid color and sharp detail. It described the chassis as solid, though it did not feel especially premium to the reviewer given the price. ASUS lists touch support for both displays and support for stylus input; TechRadar notes that a stylus is not included.

Noise, heat, and keyboard comfort
TechRadar found that the fans could become audible even during light tasks and that heat was concentrated on the underside. It also found the gaming position cramped around the WASD keys and criticized the keyboard’s compromised layout. These are observations from one review unit, not a claim that every unit or user will experience them identically.
Ports and wireless connections
The port selection includes two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a full-size SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack, according to ASUS’s specifications. Engadget also notes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, and points out that the laptop lacks an Ethernet jack and Thunderbolt 5.

Battery life: read the test method, not just the number
Battery results vary sharply with workload. TechRadar measured 3 hours and 37 minutes in a movie-playback test with only the main display active. Engadget recorded 13 hours and 10 minutes in its PCMark 10 Modern Office test, also with one display enabled. These are results from different tests and outlets, so they are not directly comparable or a guarantee of runtime for gaming, two-screen use, or your own workload.
Who should consider buying it?
It may suit you if
- You have a recurring reason to keep a second large screen open while gaming or working.
- You want a high-performance gaming laptop and are considering a top-end configuration, with the understanding that TechRadar’s strongest cited results were from an RTX 5090 review unit.
- You value the flexible screen arrangements enough to accept a premium price and the reported noise, heat, and keyboard compromises.
Look elsewhere if
- You mainly play games on one screen and would not make regular use of the second display.
- Long unplugged sessions are a priority; the cited battery tests use different workloads, and TechRadar’s movie-playback result was short.
- You need Ethernet, Thunderbolt 5, or a spacious keyboard position for gaming.
- You are comparing headline performance figures across laptops: use matching games, resolution, graphics settings, and upscaling or frame-generation options rather than relying on a single fps number.
TechRadar names the Razer Blade 18 as an alternative, highlighting its performance, keyboard, and better battery life in its respective tests. Because the products’ reviewed tests may use different methods, treat that as a qualitative pointer rather than a direct benchmark comparison.

Verdict
The Zephyrus Duo is compelling when its second 3K OLED display solves a real workflow problem. Its gaming performance can be impressive in the tested RTX 5090 configuration, but the entry price is already high, the review configurations differ, and the reported fan noise, underside heat, keyboard limitations, and battery results deserve attention. Decide based on the exact SKU and whether you will genuinely use both screens—not on the most spectacular benchmark alone.
