The ASUS ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING is a 2017 factory-overclocked GTX 1080 Ti with 11GB of GDDR5X, a large 2.5-slot cooler, and two 8-pin power inputs. Its key buying constraint is physical fit: the card is 29.8cm long and 5.25cm thick. It may suit a compatible legacy build, but its specifications and historical review are not enough to establish its value or performance in current games.
What this model is
This review covers the exact ASUS model ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING, not every GTX 1080 Ti or every ROG Strix variant. ASUS announced its Japanese-market launch on March 31, 2017, with sales scheduled to begin April 1, 2017. ASUS Japan’s launch announcement and the ASUS specification sheet identify it as an 11GB OC Edition built on NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
Specifications and clock modes
The card has 3,584 CUDA cores, 11GB of GDDR5X memory, and a 352-bit memory interface. ASUS lists two clock profiles. Actual boost behavior can vary with system conditions, as ASUS cautions in its specification sheet.

ASUS says the OC profile can be enabled through bundled software. The clocks describe manufacturer-listed profiles, not a guarantee that a particular used card will sustain its rated boost frequency in every PC.

Will it fit and connect to your PC?
Check case and slot clearance
The card measures 29.8 × 13.4 × 5.25cm (11.73 × 5.28 × 2.07 inches) and occupies 2.5 slots. Measure the available length and thickness in the case, allowing for nearby components and cables; check motherboard clearance as well. ASUS explicitly advises buyers to verify chassis and motherboard dimensions in its hardware specification sheet.
Confirm the power leads
It requires two 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Make sure the power supply has both appropriate leads and adequate capacity for the whole system. The cited ASUS specification sheet lists the connectors but does not give a recommended PSU wattage for this exact model, so its connector count alone should not be treated as a wattage recommendation.
Check the outputs you need
Its outputs are two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and one dual-link DVI-D port. ASUS lists a maximum digital resolution of 7680 × 4320; that maximum is a display specification, not a promise of playable game performance at that resolution.

Cooler design and extras
ASUS describes a triple-fan Wing-Blade cooler with IP5X-certified dust-resistant fans, MaxContact technology, Aura Sync lighting, and GPU Tweak II tuning controls. FanConnect II provides headers for two system fans. These are manufacturer-listed features, not independent findings about the condition or behavior of a particular second-hand card.

ASUS materials describe fan-stop operation at low GPU temperatures, with thresholds expressed as approximately 54–55°C: the regional announcement says fans stop at or below 54°C, while the ROG article says they remain stopped until temperature exceeds 55°C. Treat these as manufacturer-described approximate thresholds rather than a guaranteed exact switch point for every card.
ASUS Japan claimed the heatsink fin area was 40% larger than that of a conventional two-slot cooler and that its fan design produced 105% higher air pressure. ASUS ROG also described a cooler area 40% greater than a usual two-slot design and a 250W GPU power envelope. These are launch-era manufacturer claims; the 250W figure is not a measured whole-system consumption result. See the regional announcement and ASUS ROG feature article.

What the historical review can—and cannot—tell you
Tom’s Hardware’s review covers this Strix card and includes a specification comparison listing a 1,569MHz base clock, 1,683MHz boost clock, 11GB of GDDR5X, and a 275W power-target entry. It also cautions that GPU Boost frequency varies with cooling, power limits, and processor quality, so a benchmark result reflects one sample and setup rather than a universal clock or outcome.
The available historical review material does not establish how this card performs in a modern game suite, what its current driver support or used-market value is, or what condition any listing card is in. Those questions require current, model-specific testing or checking the individual seller’s listing; the launch specifications and historical review cannot answer them.

Is it worth considering now?
Consider it only in relation to a specific PC and a specific used listing. The card’s age makes condition, remaining warranty, seller reliability, asking price, and performance in the games you play essential parts of the decision, but none can be inferred from the 2017 launch materials. Compare the individual card with current alternatives using its actual condition and price, as well as fit, required power leads, display connections, and credible performance evidence. Do not assume an old listing is available, fairly priced, or covered by a warranty.
