ASUS Japan announced the RT-BE14000 and RT-BE92U on November 29, 2024, with sales in Japan reported to begin December 6. Both are tri-band Wi-Fi 7 routers, but their advertised wireless rates and wired ports differ: the RT-BE92U has a 10GbE port and four 2.5GbE ports, while the RT-BE14000 has higher reported 6 GHz and 5 GHz maxima. The launch prices were ¥42,800 and ¥42,120, respectively; these are historical estimates, not current prices.

What is the difference between the ASUS RT-BE14000 and RT-BE92U?

The main trade-off is between the RT-BE14000’s higher reported 6 GHz and 5 GHz theoretical rates and the RT-BE92U’s more capable wired-port selection and higher reported 2.4 GHz rate. Both support Wi-Fi 7 across three bands. Neither model’s advertised maximum establishes the internet speed or coverage a particular home will receive.

Specification ASUS RT-BE92U ASUS RT-BE14000

Expected Japanese launch price, 2024 ¥42,120 ¥42,800

The figures and port descriptions above were reported by ITmedia on November 29, 2024. The wireless figures are theoretical band maxima, not measured throughput. ASUS’s comparison result also lists Wi-Fi 7 capabilities for both models, but the available information does not establish a band-by-band stream allocation for the RT-BE14000. ITmedia’s launch report and ASUS Japan’s product comparison are useful references for model-specific details.

Which router’s Wi-Fi specifications matter more?

RT-BE14000: higher reported 6 GHz and 5 GHz maxima

The RT-BE14000 has the higher reported theoretical maximum on 6 GHz (8,643 Mbps versus 5,764 Mbps) and 5 GHz (4,323 Mbps versus 2,882 Mbps). These figures describe advertised wireless link-rate maxima, not a guarantee that a client device will connect at those rates or that internet downloads will reach them. The devices, channel conditions, region, and supported channel widths all affect what a connection can use.

RT-BE92U: higher reported 2.4 GHz maximum

The RT-BE92U’s reported 2.4 GHz maximum is 1,032 Mbps, compared with 688 Mbps for the RT-BE14000. The two routers therefore do not rank the same way on every band. Choose based on the bands and client devices relevant to your setup rather than treating the model names or one headline rate as a universal speed ranking.

ASUS’s comparison result lists 20, 40, 80, 160, and 320 MHz bandwidth options. That does not mean every device or regional configuration supports every width; client capability and local rules matter.

How do their wired ports compare?

The RT-BE92U has the stronger port mix for a wired network with faster-than-gigabit equipment: it provides one 10GbE WAN/LAN port and four 2.5GbE ports, one of which can serve as WAN/LAN. The RT-BE14000 has two 2.5GbE ports—one WAN and one LAN—plus two gigabit LAN ports.

  • Consider the RT-BE92U if a 10GbE connection or several 2.5GbE wired devices are important to your network.
  • Consider the RT-BE14000 if its higher reported 6 GHz and 5 GHz wireless maxima better fit your priorities and its 2.5GbE and gigabit ports meet your wired needs.

Port speeds are capabilities, not a promise of end-to-end speed: connected equipment and the internet or local network service must also support the relevant rate.

NTT Communications lists both routers in compatibility material for its OCN Virtual Connect/IPoE context, with firmware information. This is not confirmation of compatibility with every Japanese ISP or connection type. Check your provider’s current guidance, the required connection method, and router firmware before buying or configuring either model. NTT Communications’ OCN Virtual Connect router information describes that specific context.

What is known about AiMesh and the past review promotion?

ITmedia reported AiMesh support for the RT-BE14000. That information alone does not establish whole-home coverage: results depend on the home layout, placement, interference, and the compatible nodes used. Confirm current model and firmware support for the exact mesh arrangement you plan to build.
