The ASUS ProArt PZ14 is a lightweight, tablet-first Windows PC for photographers and visual creators who want a large, color-focused OLED screen and pen input on the move. ASUS lists an 18-core Snapdragon X2 Elite option and up to 32GB of memory, while one hands-on review found several major creative apps usable. The tradeoffs are practical: its detachable keyboard is less convincing away from a desk, demanding work can make the fans audible, and some games and benchmarks failed in one reviewer’s ARM compatibility tests.
What the ProArt PZ14 is—and who it suits
The PZ14 (model HT7407) is a Windows tablet with a detachable keyboard, touch display and stylus support. ASUS’s global specifications list an 18-core Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E88100 option, 16GB or 32GB of onboard LPDDR5X memory, and 512GB or 1TB of storage. That combination makes it worth considering if you prioritize a portable creative screen and tablet input over a laptop’s fixed hinge and keyboard.
Its strongest fit is a mobile photographer or visual creator who wants to review, select, retouch or edit work away from a full desk. It is less straightforward as a one-device replacement for someone who regularly types on their lap, depends on niche Windows software or plugins, or carries large video projects without external storage.
Is the OLED display good for creative work?
The headline display is a 14-inch, 2880×1800, 16:10 OLED touchscreen with a 144Hz refresh rate. ASUS specifies 100% DCI-P3 coverage, stylus support, Pantone validation and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000. It also lists 500 nits and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness for HDR; those manufacturer figures should not be read as a promise of 1,000 nits across the full screen in ordinary use. They are specifications, not independent measurements.

The combination of a high-resolution panel, touch and pen support is useful for inspecting images and making direct edits. ASUS lists compatibility with its Pen 3.0, but check the exact pen compatibility and whether the pen is included with the specific regional SKU before buying. The listed tablet itself weighs 0.79kg (1.74 lb) and is 0.90cm thick, making it easier to carry as a screen-first device than a conventional creator laptop.
Do creative apps work on its Snapdragon Windows platform?
In TechRadar’s July 2, 2026 review of a 32GB/1TB configuration, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve opened and ran without compatibility errors during the reviewer’s test. That is encouraging for mainstream photo and video work, but it is one review’s experience—not a guarantee for every app version, plugin, peripheral or workflow. Before relying on the PZ14 professionally, check support for the exact applications, plugins, drivers and devices you use.

The same review found compatibility problems in other software: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle did not load because of a Vulkan plugin compatibility error, Hogwarts Legacy showed graphics breakup, and PCMark 10 and Windows Experience Index did not run even with workarounds. These examples show why “Windows” alone is not enough to establish compatibility on an ARM-based machine. They do not establish that every game or benchmark will fail.

TechRadar found the detachable keyboard comfortable enough on a desk, but more difficult to use away from a stable surface because the joint flexed. For field use, the reviewer shifted to pen and touch input. That distinction matters: the keyboard can support desk-based writing and editing, but this is still a tablet rather than a conventional laptop with a rigid, permanently attached keyboard.

If you expect to do extended typing on your lap or while standing, try the keyboard arrangement in a comparable setup before treating it as a laptop substitute. If your field work is primarily image selection, annotation or direct edits, touch and a compatible pen may suit it better. Confirm whether the keyboard and pen are included in the box for your exact model and market; ASUS says charger and box contents can vary by region and model.
What performance, fan noise and battery details should you expect?
ASUS lists a 75Wh battery. Its US specification page references video-playback testing from April 2026 and web/video testing from March 2026 on a 16GB/512GB OLED configuration with specified settings, but the published information here does not establish a runtime figure. Battery life will depend on configuration, workload, settings and battery age, so there is no supported hour estimate to apply across uses.

Under editing workloads, TechRadar observed that Performance mode was available when the device was connected to mains power and that the fans became noticeably audible during rendering and timeline work. The reviewer found quieter modes more balanced for light use, and described 0dB mode as fanless in that use. Treat those as observations from one review, not a guarantee of noise levels in every workload or environment.

ASUS lists 512GB and 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 storage configurations, along with an M.2 2230 expansion slot. The memory is onboard rather than user-upgradable; ASUS’s US page explicitly says it is not user-upgradable. TechRadar found that the 1TB drive filled quickly with creative applications and project assets in its workflow, so large photo libraries or video projects may call for external storage.

The tablet has two USB4 Gen 3 Type-C ports with display and power-delivery support and data speeds up to 40Gbps, plus an SD Express 7.0 card reader. Those ports make a compatible external SSD or dock a plausible way to extend a desk or field setup. Check the dock’s display, bandwidth and power requirements against your intended use. ASUS also lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, while noting that supported versions can depend on operating-system support and drivers.
Configurations, price and what to verify before buying
ASUS lists 16GB/512GB and 32GB/1TB variants; availability and included accessories can differ by market. TechRadar reported US Best Buy availability at about $1,900 for a 16GB/512GB configuration in its July 2026 review. That is a dated retail observation, not a current quote. The reviewer could not confirm UK pricing or broad availability outside the US.
