Yes—the ASUS ProArt P16 H7606 is a strong choice for demanding photo-editing work, especially if you want a Windows laptop with a color-accurate OLED screen, powerful graphics and substantial memory. Its main trade-offs are a glossy display, audible fans under sustained creative workloads and a high starting price. Choose the 3K 120 Hz screen for smoother motion or the 4K 60 Hz version if you need to inspect 4K work pixel for pixel.
What is the ASUS ProArt P16?
The ASUS ProArt P16 H7606 is a 16-inch Windows laptop aimed at creative work, rather than a conventional gaming design. It combines an OLED touchscreen with creator-oriented software and controls, broad connectivity and, in the configuration reviewed by TechRadar in 2025, a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, RTX 5070 graphics with 8 GB of VRAM, 64 GB of RAM and 4 TB of SSD storage split across two drives.
ASUS announced the P16 in 2024 as an AI-focused creative laptop. Its listed NPU capability is up to 50 TOPS, and ASUS describes GPU AI performance of up to 321 TOPS. These are manufacturer-specified AI-performance figures, not measurements of Photoshop or Lightroom speed. ASUS also lists up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 4 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage; configurations can vary by region and model.

Is the ProArt P16 good for Photoshop and Lightroom?
For demanding photo workflows, the reviewed configuration has strong hardware: 64 GB of RAM provides room for large files and multitasking, while the RTX 5070 can accelerate supported creative features and workflows. TechRadar reports using Lightroom and Photoshop, alongside Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and says the laptop handled creative tasks with ease. That supports a positive assessment for real creative work, but it is not a controlled benchmark against every competing laptop.

ASUS includes ProArt Creator Hub and a customizable DialPad, which can be configured for controls in Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro. That gives the laptop a tangible workflow feature: users can map the dial to actions they use often instead of relying only on keyboard shortcuts and trackpad gestures. ASUS also lists StoryCube and MuseTree among its creator-focused software.
Is the OLED screen accurate enough for photo editing?
TechRadar lists 100% DCI-P3 coverage and Delta E below 1 for the reviewed display specification. Those figures indicate broad color coverage and low color error on that reviewed unit, making the panel a strong fit for color-conscious editing. They should not be assumed to describe every P16 configuration or guarantee that every screen remains identical over time.

The practical drawback is the glossy finish: bright surroundings can reflect in the screen and interfere with judging an image. If you edit near windows or under strong overhead lights, plan to control the lighting or use an external monitor for critical work.
Should you choose the 3K 120 Hz or 4K 60 Hz screen?
| Screen option | Best suited to | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| 3K OLED, 120 Hz; reviewed model can switch to 60 Hz | Smoother scrolling, motion and timeline work, alongside still-photo editing | It cannot show a 4K edit at native resolution |
| 4K OLED, 60 Hz | Pixel-for-pixel review of 4K images or video | It does not offer the 120 Hz refresh rate of the 3K option |
For a still photographer, the 3K panel’s refresh rate is unlikely to matter as much as the color performance and working resolution. If your work includes 4K video proofing or you want to inspect 4K material at native resolution, choose the 4K version or connect an external 4K monitor. Check the exact screen specification for the regional model you are buying.

How portable is it, and what is the battery like?
ASUS specifies a 14.9 mm-thick chassis weighing 1.85 kg, with a 90 Wh battery. That makes the P16 relatively easy to carry for a 16-inch creator laptop, though the review notes that its power brick is large. ASUS says the chassis exceeds MIL-STD 810H tests; this indicates testing against a durability standard, not that the laptop is waterproof.
Are the ports and card reader useful for photographers?
ASUS lists USB4, HDMI 2.1 and an SD Express 7.0 card reader. USB4 is useful for connecting fast external SSDs, including drives used for photo libraries or project files. The SD Express reader is convenient for compatible cards, but it may not suit every camera: TechRadar notes that many newer cameras use CFexpress, so owners of those cameras may need a separate reader.

What are the main drawbacks?
- Reflections: The glossy OLED can mirror bright surroundings.
- Fan noise: TechRadar reports audible fans during rendering and editing, so sustained creative work may be noticeable in a quiet room.
- Screen and hinge trade-offs: The reviewed 3K panel cannot display 4K edits natively, and the review notes a 130-degree hinge.
- Configuration and price: The reviewed high-spec model is expensive, and screen, memory, storage and graphics configurations can vary by market.
How does it compare with a MacBook Pro?
The available evidence supports a strong recommendation for demanding photo work, but not a definitive winner over every MacBook Pro configuration. Compare the exact machines you are considering on display resolution and gamut, measured color accuracy, GPU acceleration in your applications, RAM and SSD capacity, weight, fan noise, screen reflections, hinge movement, ports and card-reader support, and total price. Also make sure each quoted specification belongs to the exact configuration on sale in your region; the P16’s 3K and 4K panels, for example, suit different viewing needs.
How much does the ProArt P16 cost?
TechRadar listed the ProArt P16 starting at £2,799 in the UK and $2,899 in the US in its 2025 review. Those are dated starting prices, not a guarantee of current price or stock, and the reviewed configuration may cost more. Confirm the price, availability and exact screen and GPU configuration with retailers in your region before buying.
