If your ASUS monitor shows a red cast or what looks like a dead pixel, first check the signal path and reset the monitor; then check the warranty terms for its exact model and your region. ASUS does not publish one dead-pixel threshold that applies to every 24-inch monitor, so screen size alone cannot determine whether it qualifies for service.
“Redlight” could mean a reddish image, a single red pixel, or an indicator light. ASUS troubleshooting guidance covers abnormal reddish screen color, but the available guidance does not establish what an indicator light means for an unspecified model.
First identify what looks red
Note whether the whole image has a red tint, only one dot appears red, an indicator on the monitor is lit, or the monitor is cycling through colors. Also check whether the symptom appears over the monitor’s own on-screen menu and whether it changes when you select another input or source. ASUS’s troubleshooting FAQ specifically lists abnormal reddish, greenish, or yellowish screen color, including color that is sometimes normal and sometimes reddish.
Check the signal path and reset the monitor
- Confirm the selected input. Make sure the monitor is set to the port connected to your computer or other source.
- Reseat the signal cable. Disconnect and reconnect it at both the monitor and source. Check that it is fully seated and that the connectors are not visibly damaged.
- Try another suitable cable or comparison device. If available, test with a cable compatible with both devices’ ports. You can also connect the monitor to another source, or the original source to another display. ASUS recommends checking the cable connection and trying another suitable signal cable. If the symptom follows the source or cable, investigate that path; if it persists on the monitor with other sources, contact ASUS support. These comparisons help isolate the issue but do not prove which component has failed.
- Reset the monitor through its on-screen menu. ASUS gives a System Setup > Reset route for applicable models. Menu names and controls differ, so use the instructions for your exact model.
Do not buy a replacement monitor or panel based only on a red symptom. An alternate cable is useful as a diagnostic check only when its connector and version match both devices.

Check whether a dot is bright or dark
View the suspected pixel against contrasting solid-color screens and note what it does. ASUS defines a bright dot as a sub-pixel that stays on when the screen displays black, and a dark dot as one that stays off under any pattern. Avoid pressing or rubbing the panel.
Find the dead-pixel terms for your exact monitor
ASUS directs owners to search for the monitor’s model on its official support site and look for dead-pixel information under the Warranty tab. Use the exact product and your local ASUS support site: the applicable threshold can depend on model family, bright versus dark dots, warranty period, and territory. ASUS model support pages also warn that warranty and dead-on-arrival policies may vary by territory.

There is no universal pixel-count promise for an unidentified 24-inch ASUS monitor. For example, ASUS’s US warranty information for the VA27AQ, marked updated March 2025, has model-family and period-specific terms; an APAC non-ZBD LCD warranty card published May 31, 2024, describes a different regional policy. These examples are not terms to apply to another model or country. Check the current Warranty page for your exact model and region, along with the purchase date and warranty period.
- Find the model and serial number on the monitor label, packaging, or purchase records.
- Open that model’s ASUS support page and select Warranty.
- Check the local policy, relevant bright- and dark-dot criteria, warranty period, and purchase-date requirements.
- If the terms are unclear or the symptom persists, contact ASUS support with the model, serial number, proof of purchase, and a description of the checks you performed.
ASUS’s troubleshooting FAQ was updated April 7, 2026. Warranty terms can change, so rely on the current local page rather than an example threshold from another model or territory.
