The ASUS ExpertBook CX54 Chromebook Plus was reported at $679 in an October 2, 2025 Best Buy promotion, but that price is historical—not a confirmed current offer. The deal report described a configuration with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of storage. Check the retailer’s current listing before buying, and match the specifications to the exact model number: CX54 is a product family, not one fixed configuration.
What did the reported $679 CX54 deal include?
Tom’s Guide reported the $679 Best Buy promotion on October 2, 2025, for a CX54 with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of storage. That report establishes a past offer, not a price or stock status you can count on now. Read the October 2025 deal report.
ASUS’s US comparison page currently surfaces CX54 prices of $599.99 and $699.99, but it warns that a displayed price may not correspond to all specifications shown. Treat those figures as manufacturer-page listings, not proof of the live price for the 2025 deal configuration. Open the retailer’s product page and confirm processor, memory, storage, screen, and price together before ordering. Check ASUS’s US comparison listing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhich CX54 configuration are you buying?
ASUS lists multiple combinations in the CX54 family, so the product name alone is not enough to establish what a particular offer includes. Its comparison page surfaces Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 options, configurations with 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of memory, and prices of $599.99 and $699.99. The page does not securely pair each displayed price with every specification shown.

- Processor Manufacturer: Intel
- Processor Type: Core i3
- Processor Generation: 12th Gen
- Processor Model: i3-1215U
- Processor Core: Hexa-core (6 Core)
ASUS’s product page describes family-level maximums of an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 16GB LPDDR5x memory, and a 512GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD. Those maximums should not be applied to every CX54, especially where the comparison page lists different combinations. See ASUS’s CX54 product specifications.
- Processor: Verify whether the listing says Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7.
- Memory: Confirm the capacity on the exact SKU page; family listings show more than one option.
- Storage: Check the capacity rather than assuming the family’s stated maximum applies.
- Display: Confirm resolution and whether the specific unit has a touchscreen.
What are the CX54’s screen and portability details?
ASUS describes the CX54 as having a 14-inch, 16:10 display, with touchscreen availability depending on the configuration. Its product page identifies a WQXGA 2560 × 1600 screen option; do not assume every CX54 listing includes that resolution or touch support. The same page describes a 1.3kg all-metal chassis, a product-family detail rather than an independent portability test. ASUS lists a 65W USB-C power adapter on its comparison page.

Is ChromeOS a fit for your work?
The CX54 runs ChromeOS and is marketed as a Chromebook Plus with an ExpertBook business identity. It may suit work centered on web apps, browser-based collaboration, and services available on ChromeOS. Before replacing a Windows or macOS computer, check that your required desktop applications, specialist peripherals, offline workflow, and file-handling needs are supported. The available product information does not establish that the CX54 can replace every such workflow.
For external displays, ASUS’s December 14, 2023 launch announcement said the CX54 supports up to three 4K displays and can be offered with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade. Those are launch-era claims; confirm the ports, model, and enterprise configuration for the exact unit you are considering. Read ASUS’s CX54 launch announcement.

How to judge the deal before buying
- Find the retailer’s current listing and confirm the item is in stock at the shown price.
- Match the exact configuration: processor, memory, storage, display resolution, and touchscreen status.
- Compare that configuration—not a CX54 family maximum—with the price you will actually pay.
- Check that your essential apps, peripherals, and external-display setup work with the ChromeOS model.
- If business management matters, confirm whether the listing includes the relevant Chrome Enterprise option.
ASUS announced a one-year Google One AI Premium offer for qualifying new Chromebook Plus purchases, including the CX54, on May 28, 2024. That announcement does not establish that the offer is still active or that a current purchase qualifies. Verify current terms and eligibility before treating any subscription as part of the value.
